How to leverage keyword research on-page.
-
I'm a newbie and I'm a little embarrassed to ask this question, but here it is. Let's say I've done my keyword research and have 200 keywords. How do I use that for on-page/site optimization? Or do I not use it for on-page/site optimization? I guess I'm unclear about the relationship of keyword research and on-page/site optimization. Thanks.

Thanks Blue Corona and Patrick for your responses. There's so much to learn and there's a torrent, maybe a tsunami, of resources.

Hey there,
I agree with Patrick and definitely recommend that you check out the resources he provided.
You can optimize and create your landing page content however you see fit. If you want to optimize the content for more than one keyword, go ahead! The most important thing to remember is not to overstuff your content with keywords—but utilizing multiple keywords can definitely help this.
Before focusing on very specific keywords that you think are the most important for the industry, make sure that these are the keywords that people are actually searching. You should be writing content that attracts and helps users. You need to write for what they want to hear, not necessarily what you want to share.
Long tail keywords are becoming increasingly important because the way people perform searches is changing—especially with the undeniable increase of people performing searches on their mobile devices. People come to search engines for a number of reasons, and one of those reasons is to get answers. So unsurprisingly, search queries often take the form of a question. So don't forget about long tail keywords when creating content!

Hi there
That's awesome! Congrats doing the heavy legwork of getting your KW research done. I would refer you to the following resources:
- On-Page Optimization for Keywords
- Information Architecture for SEO
- A Visual Guide to Keyword Targeting and On-Page SEO
These resources will help you prioritize your keywords, structure your website in an organized fashion based on categories, and also help you construct optimized pages using your keywords, ensuring you're following SEO best practices. I highly recommended reviewing the top and also the SEO learning center. Most of the information someone would post here you can easily digest in these resources and you'll be learning on your own!
Hope this helps! Good luck!
Patrick

Keyword Research - Min "Volume" recommendations
Hi, I've began doing some keyword research, the terms I am after are yielding "11-50" Volume in Keyword Explorer. Should I bother optimizing for such a low volume? Looking for existing member / community feedback. Thank you.

Keywords moving up, except...
The keywords on my page are moving up, except for one. I have routinely ranked between 13-15 for one particular keyword. I am aware that it is a broad term, however, at one point, I showed up on page one at #6, and then dropped right back down to where I was. The website it "sexaddict.com" and, don't worry, it's for addicts so you won't find anything but help and resources there. The keyword is "sex addiction." Thanks, Ryan

How many keywords should I target per page / per site?
Hi, I am doing some keywords research and I just wanted to check my understanding of keyword theory. Is it best to select 1-2 keywords per page of the site? Or should you target the whole site towards a few keywords? Thanks, Barney.

Google Keyword tool data + No. 1 Serp rank =/= to taffic on landing page
So a keyword we are targeting "painted bedroom furniture" google keyword tool says gets 480 exact local searches (and 880 broad), and in the same local google we have ranked 1st for months (and currently we are 2nd and 3rd too), but looking at the google analytics that landing page has only gotten 78 unique page views from searches and only 21 from "painted bedroom furniture" . (the 2nd link gets 12 page views and the 3rd gets none, from that keyword) Now for me that does not make sense! For other keyword which we rank No.1 the keyword data and analytics generally match/make sense. Is there something I'm missing?

Should I be optimizing for Keywords that we already rank for?
When selecting which Keywords to optimize for, should I choose all words that I want us to move up for? Like that my company appears ranked for 5, 10, 42, 44, etc.? Or should I select a mix of some that rank well (top 1-2 pgs in Google) /rank near pg 5/ and some that aren't showing up in the top 50 yet? I don't want to waste my time optimizing for words I don't need to. Thanks!
