Blog migration
-
Hi
We have 4 websites - 1 for company and 3 for each products. Currently all our blog posts are located on the company website company.com/blog.
We will be separating out the blog so that product blogs will be in each product website.
i.e. from company.com/blog to:
This is with the aim of helping SEO for each of the product websites; and improving user experience so users can easily navigate around the product pages if they are reading a blog post on the product.
So now we have to consider migration.
We will migrate/copy over all blog posts to each of the relevant product websites, but should we:
A. keep the old blog posts on company.com/blog and do a rel=canonical
B. only show blog preview on company.com/blog which will link to the new product.com/blog (and using 301 redirect)
C. 301 redirect all blog posts from company.com/blog altogether
Any suggestions on which of the above options to take would be greatly appreciated in terms of SEO and other considerations
-
My preference would be for B. This is because the company blog is well established and so will have a lot more traffic to it so your blogs there are going to get seen and read. By showing an excerpt you are avoiding duplication but still driving traffic to the new website blog. Showing an excerpt on the company blog will entice people who are interested enough to click through to the new blog who may not otherwise have seen the article.
Option A is least favourable for me because the search engines will still have to crawl the blog article on the old website so is wasting crawl budget on that site. Also, the move you are making is permanent and that is what a 301 tells the search engines. Th canonical tag is letting the search engines know which is the preferred URL to index. You really want to move the blog articles and then build new fresh links and traffic to them on the new website.

Updating a Business Blog Article - Old or New Published Date
There are a few business blogs that I'm currently updating - include more details, information, case studies, statistics etc. The blog was originally published in September of 2016. Once I make the changes, do I keep the same original date or do I change the date to the day that i've uploaded the new information? Example:

Updated Blog: June 2017. What date should the blog display? Thank you.0 -
Simple Blog Content Question
Which is better? To write my own blog post or, (with permission) use other high DA content on my blog. I'll probably do both, but I'm very curious as to what the search engines prefer or which is better for seo. Thanks in advance!

Blog Content if Google has stated it doesn't like your blog?
Hi guys, In the new 'mobile usability' tab in Webmaster Tools, Google has stated that our blog isn't offering a good experience for users. Something we already knew and I want to change, but I can't get the budget approved to complete the work. I was just wondering if you think Google isn't going to hold my content very high as a result. I want to produce more content on our blog around our valuable keywords in hope to improve our rankings, but if Google isn't holding our site in high regard I'm thinking there may not be much point in it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Brian

Is having two blogs bad?
I'm under the impression we should only have one blog, but the company I work for wants to have our original blogger site AND link it to a blog on our website. We're basically just duplicating content, which I know to be bad. Is there any benefit to using both? If not, (which I'm guessing there isn't) which one should we keep? Does google prefer we use blogger, instead of putting it on our company site? Do the links we get from blogger help for SEO more than just putting it on our site? Any advice would be appreciated. P.S. The Blogger account has been around longer, but it doesn't have substantial traffic. It gets about 200 pages vies a month, right now. However, the one on the website gets far less than that.

Can you use creative commons non-commercial images on a company blog?
Does anyone know if it is okay to use creative commons images on your company blog if they are under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic license. Technically you are using it on a commercial site, but you are not directly making money from the image or selling it.
