How to get 1st page rankings in the local cleaning niche.
-
Hi guys,
I'm trying to learn how to market my carpet cleaning website in Google but without much success. I'm reading marketing forums for over 6 months still can't achieve 1st page rankings. What I'm missing? Can you please check the site and tell me what to improve to get good rankings in Google UK? There are some competitors which are doing very well, for example competitor1, competitor2 but I can't figure out what they have which I don't? I'm not very experienced in marketing but hope someone here will guide me how rank my cleaning website on 1st page.

Hi There!
Thanks for opening your site up for comments from the community. I hope you'll get many. Let me get the ball rolling:
-
You are in a highly competitive market in an extremely populous area. Yours will be an uphill battle, as opposed to what a business in a rural area would face.
-
Age is a factor in both local and local-organic rankings. You mention reading marketing materials for 6 months. If the business is also less than a year old, know that your ranking chances will increase the more your website and your Google My Business listing ages (provided you continuously adhere to to good practices), but that it can be very difficult to surpass older competitors. When a business is new, it can be tough to do a thorough audit of the type you'd do for an established company, because the age factor adds a bit of mystery as to where the business deserves to rank.
-
That being said, you or any Local SEO agency you hire should conduct as thorough of an audit as possible. Use the Local Search Ranking Factors 2017 study to see which factors you need to analyze, both for your own business and for your top competitors, in an effort to divine which areas (beyond age) your competitors are excelling at that your business isn't doing as well.
-
For every business, regardless of market, the core things you want to be getting right are:
-
Adherence to Google's Guidelines for representing your business on Google
-
Website authority and usability (creating excellent content that informs, persuades and converts)
-
A clean citation set on the major local business listings platforms
-
Earning and responding to reviews
-
Earning links
Beyond these basics, you'll want to discover which additional forms of marketing convert most customers for your particular business. These might be social marketing, video marketing, offline, etc.
- Looking briefly at your website, I"m noticing an absence of city terms in your title tags. It's important to make your city of location part of some/many of your title tags.
I hope this is a good start and that others will add to it!

Which one of these URL's will rank the best?
Hello! Curious on the community's thoughts on linking best practices for the following hypothetical scenario: I own a site called landscaping.com and want to rank for the term "landscapers houston". I have a link on the top title bar linking to landscaping.com/landscapers-near-me with an interactive map with clickable links leading to different metro areas. What should be my link from that page to the Houston page? 1. landscaping.com/landscapers-near-me/landscapers-houston 2. landscaping.com/landscapers-near-me/houston 3. landscaping.com/landscapers-houston 4. landscaping.com/houston The main question is whether to include the parent page or not. i have 2 conflicting thoughts. 1. short URL's are better so dont include it 2. include it because that is the page that links out to it and it helps Google understand the site flow. Thanks, Ryan

Are Yellow Pages links good for SEO
I have a client that has 2500 yellowpages.com links like this one http://m.yellowpages.com/hillside-nj/guardianship-services Are these SEO relevant? Can they hurt SEO efforts. Is this something should push for clients? Can Yellow pages be a good link building strategy? What say you?

Javacript & Schematic Markup for Local SEO
I am trying to apply schematic markup for a client who is using javascript for their store hours and maps. Will Google be able to comprehend the data in the Javascript file if I set up a schematic property for this? I wanted to use this specific property http://schema.org/openingHours. Our client is also importing reviews from a third party source. Would it be possible to apply schematic markup to a 3rd party source? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yext & Moz Local - Avoiding Dupliates
What happens if we are using Yext and Moz Local at the same time? I hear it can create duplicates. However if the NAP is exactly the same on both, why cant the aggregators/citation sources figure this out on their own? I need to develop a clearer understanding before i start submitting a select few of my clients through Yext. I do have the option to opt out of the Factual aggregator on Yext. Instead we would only update the sites that Yext has access to. End of day we are going to continue using Moz.com/local but yext saves us dozens of man hours while trying to clean up citations and fix duplicates (temporarily ofcourse until we contact them ourselves).

Local SEO for a company with 3 sites, for 3 different type of businesses
Hi I've been working for an employment lawyer in Sydney for 3 years now, all good, I built many citations and fixed all ones and the website/blog are ranking fine. Imagine I created the citation using e.g Anton Forester Employment lawyers, name, phone and address. Now the client just launched a website about property with the same name/brand and a different business title e.g Anton Forrester Property Lawyer and another 3rd website about conveyancing with the same name/brand and another business title e.g Anton Forrester Conveyancing law. My question is how do I build citations now that the name is different in the 3 cases, 3 websites but possibly the same phone and address? Thanks a lot Cheers Nico
