How to remove an unwanted Twitter account
-
Hello Mozers
We have just discovered a rogue social media account for our company which was set up back in 2015. It has our company name with 'ltd' tacked onto the end to make a unique handle. Unfortunately as we don't know who set it up, we don't have any of the usernames and passwords necessary to go into it to potentially remove it. Does any one have any suggestions?
Thanks
Catherine

You are welcome. I got very valuable help on this platform lately and I am going to use it even more in the future.

Hello Casare
Thank you - you have been really supportive!

Hi Catherine
I see. At my time it used to be free text...
I just checked it out. These are still messages going to the support, just with interactive questions and answers. Smart questions actually. I assume that somebody will read that question/answer thing and get back to you asap.
I would fill it out and give them a litte bit of time to get back to you. As ultima ratio you can also do what you suggested in your last message.

To clarify the third point. I did send a direct message to @TwitterSupport, which sent me into the iterative search! Should I actually Tweet my issue with the @TwitterSupport handle within the tweet?
Thanks for you help!

Thats annoying.
I would:
- send a private message to that twitter account (through twitter, actually a tweet, the owner then gets a notification)
- write a tweet and mention (@username) them in that tweet (the owner then also gets a notification)
- write a TWEET to the support: @TwitterSupport (they react very quickly to that in my experience)
-
It seems that Twitter, just like Google have a support which takes you down a search tree. Unfortunately I keep arriving at a dead end!

Hi Catherine,
IMO Twitter support might help you @ https://twitter.com/TwitterSupport?ref_src=twsrc^tfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fhelp.twitter.com%2F
Thanks

Maybe a Trademark Report: https://support.twitter.com/articles/18367. Not sure from your information if you meet the prerequisites to be successful with that.
Interesting article about possible solutions for that: http://follows.com/blog/2017/07/claim-twitter-already-taken

Do g+ Reviews From New Accounts Count?
We want to get some more reviews on g+ and we have clients who will to write them. The problem is that almost none of them have g+ accounts. While they are nice enough to create a profile, just to do a review for us, I'm wondering if that will even matter? Does anyone know how google handles reviews from scant profiles? My fear is that google will treat reviews from scant profiles like spam, even though they won't be. While I don't mind asking our clients to write us g+ reviews, I can't very well ask them to be active on g+ so google thinks they more credible. Is this fear legitimate? Does anyone know one way or the other? Thanks, Ruben

Identifying members on Twitter
We are a member based company. Membership is by business not individual. So for instance if your widget business is a member anyone with a johndoe@widget.com email address can sign up and use all our content, portals, etc. I want to take emails and figure out if they are on Twitter. I know Twitter allows you to search your contact list but this wouldn't be that. It would be a list of emails I create. Are there any tools or suggestions to do this in a efficient way besides searching each individual name on Twitter? Thanks for the help.

How do I follow more people on Twitter?
Hi my Moz friends, I like following all of you, a lot! Because I like following you all so much, but not so many of you like following ME, I have been cut off by Twitter and I'm not allowed to follow any more people until I have more people following ME. Sad Face I am sure that more than a few of you have been in this scenario. What should I do? I could dump 10-20 followers but that 's not going to be enough to pacify the Twitter Gods! Thanks guys, Dana

What if an employee leaves and removes Rel=Author verification from their Google Plus profile?
What if someone leaves your company and removes your site from their Google Plus profile (under "Contributor To"). Does that kill all the rel=author on the pages written by this former employee? (Should you use the email verification with employees to avoid this scenario? Email verification is a big hassle for us.)

Twitter Username Change / Character length
Hi Re: Changing Twitter Usernames/Character Length Issues: To improve the branding of a clients Twitter username I'm about to change clients 11 character Twitter username which currently is half brand name plus a number i.e. @halfbrand99 to a full brand name plus regional suffix i.e. @fullbrandnameuk (since brand name alone not available) totalling 16 characters. I know Twitter usernames should be as short as possible but think more important to maintain consistent brand identity across all social platforms. I have already changed the page profile name to brand name, included brand name in bio and linked to site in bio but not sure whether to change the username or not too ? Whats your opinion ? It doesnt matter, leave as is since shorter better re: character limits and rest of profile well branded OR Better to change to longer branded username for consistent brand identity ? Note: I will be setting up new profile for old username to catch and divert any peeps using old username etc Cheers Dan

Is twitter a waste of time to gain traffic
Hi i am wondering what people's thoughts are with reference to twitter. I use twitter and enjoy twitter but i have never had any traffic from twitter. I use facebook which i am not a fan of and i get a lot of traffic from it. Just wondering if there is a knack to getting traffic from twitter or are other people finding out the same as me that twitter does nothing to generate traffic or increase your profile

Benefits of getting inbound links to your Facebook account to go through your domain?
Hi, I was browsing a magazine recently and came across an advert that had a text of: domain.com.au/facebook When you visit this address you are automatically redirected to their Facebook account. It got me thinking, is there any benefit to this? It's the first time I've seen it and I presume they get links from outside sources to their FB account to go to domain.com.au/facebook rather than facebook.com/sitename Thanks
