New URL, new physical address, New Name. 30 point drop in Domain Authority. Yikes.
-
I have a client who is asking for SEO help after renaming their business, getting a new URL, and somehow having an address change (without moving to a new location...weird...I know). This has set them back big time in terms of their domain authority (they went from a 46 to a 15 in DA). The web developers they work with put a 302 redirect in place from their old URL (home page), which had 10,477 links from 52 root domains, to their new URL's home page. Open site explorer shows that they now have 5 links!
We can improve some of the local search set backs from the name and address change with a citation audit and clean up, but the domain name change is a killer. So here's my question or questions, really: Do we need to manually rebuild links with partner websites? I know there is debate around the actual link juice passed along from a 302 vs a 301 redirect (despite what has been publicly stated by Google). Or is this just a waiting game while old links get recrawled?

We actually did this earlier in 2017 with a brand name change (going from Marketingxchange to Lure Creative) and url change (going to http://lurecreative.com/). We saw quite a drop in rankings and DA, but had all of our old website pages 301ed to the most relevant pages on the new website.
This was quite a project and now about 3 months later we are finally seeing an increase in traffic, we have gone through and updated a lot of our old brand name links and also sought new links with our new brand name as well, which is what I would recommend doing.
Our goal was to try and swing most of our external links anchor texts to be our new brand name (which we used Yext, and alot of time manually link building to do this). It still took multiple months, so it was a pain either way, but we are trending up again.

Following moz guideliness complety, will it certainly improve keyword rankings, domain authority
Hi! G’day to you. I am Naresh from Dotline Infotech. I’d like to take up couple of concerns to be clarified for my better understanding on Moz tool. Indeed, Moz is a nice SEO tool that helps in improving Search engine optimization comprehensive process. We are moz pro member since a year. Moz has equally bifurcated every SEO activity and rate it according to its own benchmark. I intend to ask a series of concerns; Q1. Moz has page grading system A to F. According to Moz guidelines, if the keywords on the page gets repeated minimum 4 times, Moz consider it as ‘A’ grading (one of Moz metric to evaluating the page). Whereas, Google indicates repetition of same keywords time and again is treated as keyword stuffing. According to me, if keywords are already within the content one or two time and furnishing relevant information, why keywords re-occurrence to be 4 time. Does the repetition of same keywords 4 times will lead to give more valuable information? Just a request to let me share why we should unnecessarily repeat keywords? Q2. As per Google guidelines, only 3 keywords can be placed in title tag and also advisable to use only one h1 tag instead of multiple. Among 3 keywords in title tag, only one main keyword can be used in H1 tag. Moz gives much weight age to that particular keyword placed in H1 tag but rest two keywords does not get any importance. I just like to know if we use three H1 tags within page, will it increase the page grading or not. Q3. Does Moz tool have its own index data or refer to Google’s ones? Q4. Following the Moz guidelines completely, will it be 100% sure all our keyword rankings, page authority, domain authority certainly be improved. Looking forward to hear you soon. Thanks

How is domain authority related to country top level domains?
I've noticed that for some country top level domains (tld) the domain authority returned by open site explorer is based on the domain that has been registered within the tld. For example, domainname.co.uk provides a domain authority specific to the domain. However, for some other country top level domains, this does not appear to be the case. Examples I have found include: domainname.co.nr domainname.co.pt domainname.co.ee For these top level domains the domain authority seems to be the same for every domainname, seemingly implying the domain authority is for the top level domain itself rather than for the domain. Is this a common situation for many country top level domains, so that what I see going in here is the tip of a large iceberg, or does this situation just apply to a very isolated set of country top level domains?
