Bad ranking and drops on main keyword
-
Hi Guy's,
I have a question about a website that ranks between SERP 10 - 20 and often drops out of the search results. Looking at authority it should score in atleast in top 10.
Netherlands + Belgium - Dutch language
https://www.vaneyckshutters.com
Keyword: Shutters (in all languages)Netherlands: SERP 10 - 20 and drops
Belgium Dutch language: Top 3 position
Belgium French language: Top 3 positionHistory:
In the past, the website was live on domain extensions:- .nl (Dutch)
- .be (Belgium)
Later they switched to
- .com/nl/ (Netherlands + Belgium - Dutch language)
- .com/fr/ (Belgium - French language)
And finally they swtiched to
- .com (Netherlands + Belgium - Dutch language)
- .com/fr/ (Belgium - French language)
*All switched where provided with redirects
In 2016 Q3 a new website was launched provided with https://, there where some issues with redirects but that's mainly fixed now. After launching the new website the positions where terrible. The website didn't score on the keyword: Shutters, and some times not even on there own brandname. After a while it stabilised but still sometimes the website dropped out of the search results. A few weeks ago we made some technical changes and now we see drops again.
Strange things Still we see strange things happening. Mainly the fact that Belgium NL and FR score good, but that could also be because of lower competition. What about the search result:
- site:vaneyckshutters.nl (indexed)
- site:vaneyckshutters.be (indexed)
i came across this article, and looked at:
- vaneyckshutters.nl/robots.txt (present)
- vaneyckshutters.nl/robots.txt (present)
Strange that the meta titel is ignored bij Google:
".com" meta title is the same as the indexed ".nl" and ".be"At some point a saw a redirect from the old website to the new:
302 permanent redirect (made me think there was some tweaking going on)I asked a friend if he could provide some SEO advise and gave suggestions: - In the robots.txt is see "disallow:[empy]", is that smart?
- Canonical on home is set to: "/" but redirect without "/"
- x-default in alternate is missing
Advise Does anyone see the issue or has an advise for us? Maybe we are missing the clues and is something going wrong on:
- Server/domain level (redirects)
- Authority level (still some 404's)
- Technical issues (hreflang)
- etc. etc.
Hope someone can help us out!
Thanks a million!

Comprehensive KW Ranking Database for Canada - better than SEMRush?
Is anyone familiar with other tools like SEMRush for competitor research in Canada to see what sites are currently ranking for? I'm not sure that SEMRush has the most comprehensive database for Canada and I'm looking for THE tool in Canada. Thanks!

Lost local organic rankings and international issues
Hi Everyone, Hoping we can get some help from our fellow Mozzers (Mozee's? Mozites?) We have 3 TLD's .com.au .co.uk & .com We noticed an issue a couple of weeks ago where we suddenly lost a lot of our search rankings for keywords on the .com.au site that we'd been top with for a long time. A lot of our Australian visitors were coming through our US site. US & UK sites got increased ranking results. We fixed up what we thought were the issues (Potentially HREF Lang issues and old sitemap issues). Google Search Console is still telling us we have some HREF Lang Errors, (but this could be waiting an updated crawl as the number is decreasing) Our main domain example.com is now showing up as first result in google.com.au search and the example.com.au doesn't show up until page 4 (prior to 2 weeks ago it was number 1) Any input would be appreciated...

Which will rank higher: Non-mobile friendly site in native language vs. mobile friendly global site in English?
Hi, we are currently implementing a mobile site, e.g. m.company.com. The global mobile site will only be available in English. We have local subsites of the desktop site, e.g. company.com/fr. The local subsites are not mobile friendly. If a user does a search for a brand term in France, **which site will rank higher in SERPs? **If it will be the global site, is there anything we can do (other than making them mobile friendly) to make the local sites rank higher? Would it be the mobile-friendly site, even though it is only in English, because the local site would be penalized for not being mobile friendly? Or would it be the local site, because Google will give priority to the fact that it's in French, which matches the language of the person searching?

Suggestion for Baidu Keyword Rank Tracking Software?
Does anyone have a suggestion for the best keyword rank tracking software in Baidu? The keywords would be in Chinese. We currently already have keyword rank tracking software for Google/Bing/Yahoo so we just need to expand to Baidu. I am looking forward to comparing my research with what the Moz community has to say! Thanks!

Weird Geo Rankings - Help Please!
So I've got a site - a .com, hosted in the USA with no geo target set in webmaster tools. I'm from the UK where the site ranks no 6 for its main keyword but in the USA it's ranking no 38. That's pretty much it! I can't get my head around why this would be - the US market is the main market for the product/service so I am thinking maybe it's just more competitive but surely many of the sites ranking in the States would be in the UK too. .... it's such a difference in rank! PS, the site was no 14 in google.com until penguin 2.0 but dropped although its .co.uk ranking has remained - another thing that has left me dumb founded! The website is www.options-trading.com and the keyword is "options trading". Any ideas?!

Is there an issue using within the URL for a page words with accents or graves, for example including "Estándares"? Thanks Stuart

Very fluctuating rankings
For a couple of years we're doing internet marketing for a local car rental company in Holland that operates at Amsterdam Airport and competes with players like Herz, Europcar, Avis, ... We started with SEO, SEA & Remarketing. With an overall conversion rate of 13% the results are pretty good, and our client is happy 🙂 Whieee End 2011 we started with an evaluation of the efforts we did last year(s) and to come to new insights to work on in 2012. The SEA & remarketing campaings have a (very) possitive ROI, and they give us lots of insights where we should focus on doing SEO. We identified longtail keywords with a high search volume but when monitoring these keywords in SEOmoz we see they are fluctuating. Some keywords gain ranking positions in google.nl but lose positions in google.com and vica versa. That's pretty frustrating, because we want to rank good in both 🙂 I was wondering what's the best practice for these longtails... Do we make specific landingspages that focus on these longtails, or do we focus on linkbuilding getting links with longtail anchor texts to the homepage of the website? An example: last week we rose 14 positions for a keyword in google.nl but for the same keyword we dropped 4 places in google.com (while .com is much more interesting for our client) Any suggestions are welcome!!
