Should we add a weekly updated website blog (annotated re-postings) that mirrors our LinkedIn updates?.
-
We currently add original content to our website every couple of months in the form of long form articles we have guest authored for other reputable sites.
We also maintain a LinkedIn company site with weekly updates in the form of annotated newsworthy re-postings.
We are thinking of duplicating our LinkedIn update feed on our website as a blog in order to build more traffic and improve SEO. Hopefully the additional frequency of site updates will also help.
Again, this additional content will be largely re purposed, with the exception of our value-added annotations.
Good idea? Waste of time? Suggested tweaks?
Should we link back to the original content source, no-follow, or no link?

Hi Lysarden,
Good point. No not in my opinion. If your content is valuable to your target audience and has an additional value for them its very much OK like this. I can think of some kind of summary with curated links as being something very helpful actually.
Its a sign of quality contents that is also links to other (authoritative) sources. Some might visit these links but thats OK, thats part of the game and also what they are supposed to do actually. But they will come back and stick to your blog/content if its worth something for them.
You will pass equity juice to the sites you link to and yes you will help them rank (but they would probably would do anyway also without your link as I think of them of being authoritative sites in the given topic already), but you will also position your blog posting topic wise in the right area and again to link to (maybe not to many) good authoritative sites in the corresponding field is good practice, something you should do. If your posting is a kind of list of helpful links for this topic also many links pointing out would be OK.
Cheers,
Cesare

Thanks Cesare, makes sense. A related question:
If my website blog consists of curated links and content synopsis with my value added notations, do I run the risk of simply exporting my visitors to another site? Won't I wind up adding rank to the sites I link to at my expense?
-
Hi Lysarden,
Basically the valuable content should reside all on your website (e.g. a blog) and then you post links of your blog post on different social media channels, like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter what ever makes sense for you. Thats the way 'seeding' is done properly on Social Media. Don't add copies of entire articles (postings) on different channels just link to the original on your website.
Doing it that way you direct all people to your website, where they maybe even can like/share your article on social media again (positive signal for Google). Even if they (only) stay on your site and read the article its a positive signal for Google; i.e. enhances dwell time on your site).
This way everything goes always back to your site and this is in my opinion the best way you can get the most out your curated content.
I don't see why you need to have a feed (RSS?) on your site of the Linkedin content. I mean as a feed (done right) its not going to harm but neither going to help you. If you do it as i explained above you will be able to direct all your article readers to your website, etc.
You should never create duplicate content. Not sure if you are doing this. The solution for that is to link to the contents whenever you refer it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Cesare

Blog keywords for wordpress/duplicate keywords an issue?
Would you treat the blogs that businesses do the same as their subdomains/landing pages and putting different focus keywords in their blogs/wordpress and meta tags? So you put something different for each of the blog based on content/location/etc and nothing duplicates? Would that affect the rankings that much in regards to blog seo keyword similarities/duplicate descriptions?

Promoting several posts on FB increases the reach for all posts
My FB page has a reach for 3000-5000 views. I promoted several posts and got 40 000-60 000 views per promoted post. An interesting thing that now when I post on my FB page I got 5000-8000 reach without promoting? Have you similar experience?

Would you guest post on this website?
Hi, What do you think of this website for guest posting - www.forevergeek.com Now to me I would quite happily give up a guest post to this website, and the reason behind this would be... DA:63 PA:67 MR:5.6 MT:5.8 And lots of social sharing per post and to me this would be a perfect site to get some exposure on, looks ok as well. BUT the only thing which would put some doubt in my mind is the PR2, I would assume a site with DA:63 would have a PR4/5. What are your thoughts on this?

How does SEOMoz Code its Social Badge on Blog
On the blog section (and most other pages of the site) there is a social badge on the right hand side of the page where it shows the number of followers on Twitter, FB fans, etc. How does SEOMoz pull those numbers? It seems like its not using the normal Javascritps supplied by FB and Twitter, Feedburner. Thanks

Linkedin Company Profile
Hello mozzers, I have a question, for example if we see the seomoz company profile on linkedin, we see the number of employers, and for my company, can't see the number of employers on the public, what is reason? Maybe seomoz is using pro-membership on linkedin? or is doing the linkedin automatically for the employers who are registered with mail at domain name official of company. How to do this..? to see number of employers on public-profile, not on the right side, but on the content, at seomoz you can see the latest 5 new employers. Thanks

Working with 3rd PArty Social Media partners / paid blogs
Hi there! We are an ecommerce company based in the UK and are an online butcher. We are looking to further our contribution and authority in a social sphere, in particular develop relations with bloggers and social sites who are realised to have authority in our sphere (food / meat). At present we are active in the usual (Twitter, Facebook etc) and have over 1000 likes and followers. We also have a cool blog which can be found at <cite>www.donaldrussell.com/weblog/index.html</cite> We are looking at our content and would like to share this with other bloggers in return for backlinks and visits from these blogs, and in turn improve our pagerank and SEO ratings. I have been offered the chance to work with EBuzzing, who claim to get your content published and referred to but you have to pay these "bloggers" for the privelage. Is this a good way of furthering our social strategy in the short term, or is this the wrong way to go and do search engines devalue these links? My preference is to organically grow our presence through becoming a valuable contributor and have alsways strongly advocated this, however Ebuzzing or other simillar services sound too good to be true! Are they? Hope you can help me, and look forward to your thoughts. Many thanks Gary
