Wordpress Tags error in MOZ
-
Hi,
We are getting an enormous amount of missing meta description only on our tag archives. When we post we fill in a description and are using the Yoast plugin ( getting green lights). Now we are finding that we're missing descriptions in tags archives. What is the best thing to do? We're finding that the tags are creating a separate url for each tag that has missing description even though the post has a full description.
1. To block spiders from crawling tags?
2. To stop using tags?
3. What do you suggest?
Thank you

Hi Masonman,
I generally "noindex" tags in Yoast and for really big sites I will also block them in robots.txt (after I know they have been removed from index) - but it depends how you are using them on your site.
Before you "noindex", check GA to make sure your tags pages aren't getting any organic traffic. If they aren't, I would go ahead and set them to "noindex".
If you want to then block them from being crawled, you must wait until the pages have been removed from index. Otherwise, they will remain indexed because the pages can't be crawled and the "noindex" tags won't be seen.
Tags only exist to help users find similar content. You could check GA pageviews for your tag pages to see if people are actually using them - if they aren't, you might decide to stop using them.
You have a few options here...I could give more specific advice on what I would do if I knew more about your site, but I hope this helps!
Cheers,
David

Robots.txt blocked internal resources Wordpress
Hi all, We've recently migrated a Wordpress website from staging to live, but the robots.txt was deleted. I've created the following new one: User-agent: *

Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php However, in the site audit on SemRush, I now get the mention that a lot of pages have issues with blocked internal resources in robots.txt file. These blocked internal resources are all cached and minified css elements: links, images and scripts. Does this mean that Google won't crawl some parts of these pages with blocked resources correctly and thus won't be able to follow these links and index the images? In other words, is this any cause for concern regarding SEO? Of course I can change the robots.txt again, but will urls like https://example.com/wp-content/cache/minify/df983.js end up in the index? Thanks for your thoughts!2 -
If I use links intag instead of "ahref" tag can Google read links inside div tag?
Hi All, Need a suggestion on it. For buttons, I am using links in tag instead of "ahref". Do you know that can Google read links inside "div" tag? Does it pass rank juice? It will be great if you can provide any reference if possible.

Hreflag Tags - English language & multiple regions
My client is concerned about duplicate content on their site which has versions of the same page in multiple regions. All pages are english language and the regions are; Asia, North America, Australia, Europe, UK and Rest of the World. The url just changes the location to a folder e.g. .com/australia My question is does anyone have any recommendations on how to handle this for Europe, Asia and Rest of the World? Any thoughts would be appreciated

Title Tags & Keyword Order
Hi I've read various articles on this - some saying it's still important to have the keyword at the beginning of the title and some saying it's not a big factor anymore? Does anyone have an opinion on this?

On Page Content. has a H2 Tag but should I also use H3 tags for the sub headings within this body of content
Hi Mozzers, My on page content comes under my H2 tag. I have a few subheadings within my content to help break it up etc and currently this is just underlined (not bold or anything) and I am wondering from an SEO perspective, should I be making these sub headings H3 tags. Otherwise , I just have 500-750 words of content under an H2 tag which is what I am currently doing on my landing pages. thanks pete

H1 Page Title Tag Placement
I'm a little confused over the correct area to place a H1 title Tag. When I look at Wordpress templates and published Wordpress sites, it suggests placing the H1 tag within the header area. However, SEO companies and other well postioned sites place the H1 title tag at the start of the main content area. What is the correct and/or best practice for placing H1 page title tags? Thanks Mark

Meta tags - are they case sensitive?
I just ran the wordtracker tool and noticed something interesting. The tool didn't pick up our meta description. It's strange as our meta descriptions appear in organic search results and Moz never reported missing meta descriptions. After reviewing other pages, I noticed our meta description tag is written as the following: name="Description" content=" I never thought about this, but are meta tags case sensitive? Should it be written as: name="description" content=" Thoughts?
