Will link juice still be passed if you have the same links in multiple, outreach articles?
-
We are developing high quality, unique content and sending them out to bloggers to for guest posts. In these articles we have links to 2 to 3 sites. While the links are completely relevant, each article points to the same 2 to 3 sites. The link text varies slightly from article to article, but the linked-to site/URLs remain the same.
We have read that it is best to have 2 to 3 external links, not all pointing to the same site. We have followed this rule, but the 2 to 3 external sites are the same sites on the other articles. I'm having a hard time explaining this, so I hope this makes sense.
My concern is, will Google see this as a pattern and link juice won't be passed to the linked-to URLs, or worst penalize all/some of the sites being linked to or linked from?
Someone I spoke to had suggest that my "link scheme" describes a "link wheel" and the site(s) will be penalized by Penguin. Is there any truth to this statement?
-
ok, you said link scheme and that text viries slightly, im sorry if I missunderstood your question.
Does the pages linked in B or C have a link to A? If that´s the case, then you are in trouble.
There is no way to assure that will be no harm, because google keeps the whole history of every site, so they can link internally from that history and somehow punish sites. From my point of view it can be a little suspicious to Google.
I´d separate a few weeks from publishing each blog post so it looks less unnatural. And also, remember not using exact match anchor text in every text and/or using the same anchor text.Hope it helps.

Link "scheme" sounds so nefarious. I'd rather think of my idea as a link strategy. To be clear, all of the content is unique and differs greatly. Only the links are the same.
For example:
Blog Post 1: "Social Media and Kids"
Link A: Link to Parent Control Software
Link B: Link to Social Media Tutor Company
Link Link to IT Services Company (if you need help installing software)Blog Post 2: "Should children be on Facebook?"
Link A: Link to Parent Control Software
Link B: Link to Social Media Tutor CompanyBlog Post 3: "How to block kids from accessing social media, and not have them hate you."
Link A: Link to Parent Control Software
Link B: Link to IT Services Company (if you need help installing software)Link A is the primary site. Assume that Link A is my site, and sites B and C belong to friends of mine, for whom I like giving link love to.
Is this going to cause a problem with Google?

Hi Cutopia,
The rule of thumb should always be: if you do recognize that is a link scheme, google will too.
If I were you, I'd make every piece of content sent to publishers really unique, not with slightly different text. If you do not want to be penalize, put real effort in it.
Yeap, its really possible that google dismiss some or all of those links, not because are the same links, but because it is a clear link scheme. Its perfectly normal to have the same url in many articles/referred pages. The penguin algorithm is really powerfull and ahs became smarter every year.Hope my advise helps.
Best luck.
GR.Ps: if you still implement it, would love to hear back the results. It could prove im wrong!

Link Spring Clean
Hey, Based on the most up to date thinking - what's the best way to approach a link spring clean? We've got a site with a large amount of links (a few of which look a bit spammy - SEO directories etc) Also, the brand changed it's name and URL a while back so there are directory/web citations using the old URL and sometimes the old name. The old URL is 301'd but I'm thinking (especially in terms of local SEO) these citations with differnt business names/numbers/web addresses could be particularly harmful? Cheers!

OSE link report showing links to 404 pages on my site
I did a link analysis on this site mormonwiki.com. And many of the pages shown to be linked to were pages like these http://www.mormonwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Planning_a_trip_to_Rome_By_using_Movie_theatre_-_Your_five_Fun_Shows2052752 There happens to be thousands of them and these pages actually no longer exist but the links to them obviously still do. I am planning to proceed by disavowing these links to the pages that don't exist. Does anyone see any reason to not do this, or that doing this would be unnecessary? Another issue is that Google is not really crawling this site, in WMT they are reporting to have not crawled a single URL on the site. Does anyone think the above issue would have something to do with this? And/or would you have any insight on how to remedy it?

First Link on Page Still Only Link on Page?
Bruce Clay and others did some research and found that the first link on the page is the most important and what is accredited as the link. Any other links on the page mean nothing. Is this still true? And in that case, on an ecommerce site with category links in the top navigation (which is high on the code), is it not useful to link to categories in the content of the page? Because the category is already linked to on that page. Thank you, Tyler

Can I consolidate tasty link juice from several categories to one?
I have two categories currently "Men's Christian Jewellery" and "Women's Christian Jewellery" but neither pick up search engine traffic as well as just "Christian Jewellery" as a unisex category. My question is this; if I create a new category "Christian Jewellery" but then remove the two others and create 301 redirects from them to this new category, will this transfer all of the juice from the other pages to this new one? Thanks in advance for any replies! 🙂

Article Marketing For Link Building
Just wanted to get a discussion going about the effectiveness of article marketing for building links. All of my content will be decent and unique. I will submit to the following 10 directories: Ezine Buzzle Goarticles Article Dashboard Sooperarticles Helium Articlebase Articlealley Isnare Article City Of course, varied anchor text and relevant content to my various niches. I just want to know if this is still an effective link building strategy. Please don't recommend i "try" something else because i am doing everything else as well. Thanks guys

Where does link authority get passed to a stand alone landing page
Hi All, We are currently building a landing page that contains a bunch of funny top 10's, some that aren’t suitable for all customers, it can only be accessed from a PR source or recipient of one of our emails. The question I have is; where will the authority gained from people linking to this page go? Would it be passed to the home page, if there’s a link to it? Or would you recommend a way to control it? Any insight welcome. Cheers Neal
