MOZ rankings HUGE drop to 1
-
Hello,
My website's MOZ rankings dropped dramatically to DA 1 PA 1 MOZ rank 0 Backlinks 0. A problem seems that my backlinks are no longer recognised, as there are of course many backlinks active and not the 0 mentioned. Also, I recently experienced a big drop in Google SERP, only for my homepage (main keyword), not for subpages (longtail).
I don't know what might be the cause for the SERP and MOZ drop. The only thing I can think of is that the past months I first changed from http://www.mydomain to http://my domain and later to https://mydomain However this was done properly and added in Google search console. Also Google SC does recognise my backlinks still (eventhough most are to the old redirected http://www.mydomain version). Can this be the cause, or do you have any suggestions what might be the cause, or what I can do to find out? Obviously I am interested in finding out the reason for the big SERP drop as this might have to do with the same cause for the big MOZ drop. Thanks!

Hello Nicholas,
Thanks for your input. I think the rel canonical is set right as wel as 301s for the https migration.
However, this does point me to something maybe related: A while ago a tool suggested 'harmful dynamic content' was present, i.e. myhomepage/?p='largenumber' and this 14 times. On all these 14 url versions my homepage dispayed. After consulting my website system's helpdesk I added 301s for these URLs to blogs, as it should have been caused by draft blogs.
However, I think this was totally wrong as I later found out adding /?p=anynumber is possible within the URL. So, basically I added 301s from home to subpages (i.e. blogs) and the problem I now have is poor SERP results for homepage (not subpages and not the blogs) and a huge drop in MOZ scores for this homepage. So, I disabled these 301s a month or so ago. What do you think?
Thanks!!

Hard to answer as there could be multiple issues with your domain changes.
I would definitely make sure everything is 301ing properly to your current website version. Also, maybe throw a "rel canonical" tag on the homepage so Google knows it is the "Master Version", although this may only matter if you copy and pasted from one domain that was already indexed to a new one.
Lastly, it sounds like the Moz OSE tool may have just had a glitch or is maybe not recognizing the 301 redirect to your new domain. I would check try the Moz OSE tool again, and also check out https://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection.

Time For New Website To Rank?
We've been working on a site for the past couple months and going to be launching in a couple weeks. How long does it take for Google to establish a "stabilized" ranking for the site and various pages? Â The main homepage will have its targeted keywords and each product page will have its own targeted keywords. Â We have about 100 total pages for the site. I know rankings may fluctuate initially but trying to get an idea of when the rankings are stabilized before we start working on the ongoing SEO like earning backlinks, changing on-page optimization, etc to be able to track changes in rankings over time.

Curious, anyone ever had over half of their indexed links drop on an e-commerce site?
In a year went from around 300k indexed pages to around >100k according to GWT. Â Could this be duplicate content issue, lost links, spam, aged links or all of the above? either way an audit is in order. Thanks! Chris

An overnight substantial drop in visit duration while amount of sessions grew.
Hi, My Ave. session duration has dropped from 2:10 to 0:14 overnight. At the same time, amount of sessions from all channels grew on average of 56%. This increased (and I guess low quality) traffic is coming in from multiple regions, languages, devices and channels. I was not able to pin point it to 1 source, location, landing page etc. See enclosed screen shot. I would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on what's wrong and if there are any SEO implications. Thanks. pxWQX2E.png

Can 500 errors hurt rankings for an entire site or just the pages with the errors?
I'm working with a site that had over 700 500 errors after a redesign in april. Most of them were fixed in June, but there are still about 200. Can 500 errors affect rankings sitewide, or just the pages with the errors? Thanks for reading!

Local site rankings have dropped off first page but Universal went up.
My site was performing first page locally on 6 of 20 keywords, and universally on 3 of 20  keywords.  We started a link building campaign and optimization about 3 weeks ago.  When I looked at the rankings today I was happy to see that 16 of 20 keywords were in the top 20 rankings universally, but not happy to see that only 1 of the 25 words were ranking locally now.   I lost my local ranking on 5 very important keywords.  I realize that you can not rank first page for both local and organic but its as if I traded my first page local ranking for a universal ranking that appears lower on the page.  Maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

Drop in google referral traffic
Hi guys, As we know, GA shows google as traffic source in two ways: google / organic for organic searches and google.TLD / referral for everything else: google groups, base.google.com, static pages, google reader, google image search, google search appliance/mini. What we noticed is that around Oct 20th there's a huge drop of google.TLD / referral traffic to our site. Do you experience something similar? I couldn't find anything Google-related that happened around this specific date. We use GSA for our site search and I'm wondering if this could be the reason - maybe someone from our development team made changes to GSA settings that affected this traffic source. Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks.
