Trailing Slash and Non-Trailing Slash Inconsistency
-
Hi,
Majority of the URLs on the site I'm working on are using non-trailing slash,
https://example.com/page1
https://example.com/page2
https://example.com/page3But when it comes to the blog pages, they are using trailing slash:
https://example.com/blog/specific-blog-post1/
https://example.com/blog/specific-blog-post2/
https://example.com/blog/specific-blog-pos3t/Note that there is no duplication here since they have canonical tags.
My only concern is that:
Is it okay to have this kind of structure where the blog page have trailing slash while the rest are using non-trailing slash?Keen to hear from you guys.
Cheers!

Thank you very much, Serge!

Hi! To answer your question—that's totally fine, as long as the canonical tags are pointing to non-trailing on product URLs and trailing on blog URLs, this shouldn't be a big deal.
There are other things to consider like internal linking (and making sure that's consistent across the site) and possibly choosing one version (like trailing slash) and force redirecting the rest (to ensure things are clean when it comes to URLs).
But as far as the direct question goes, as long as your canonicals are set accurately for those sections it shouldn't be a problem.
Hope that helps!

URL structure with dash or slash
Hi, everyone Basically I am editing my website page's URL for SEO Optimisation and I am not sure which URL structure is best for SEO. The main different is the sign ( dash or slash ) before the product-code. HERE ARE TWO EXAMPLE www.example.com/long-tail-keyword-product-code www.example.com/long-tail-keyword/product-code To get more idea of my page, here is one of the product from my website : http://www.okeus.co.uk/pro_view-3.html My website is selling my own product, as a result the only keyword can be found was the name of the product and I separated different design by different code. Trailing Slashes on URLs
Hi we currently have a site on Wordpress which has two version of each URL trailing slash on URLs and one without it. Example: www.domain.com/page (preferred version - based on link data) www.domain.com/page**/** The non-slash version of the URL has most of the external links pointing to them, so we are going to pick that as the preferred version. However, currently, each version of every URL has rel canonical tag pointing to the non-preferred version. E.g. www.domain.com/page the rel canonical tag is: www.domain.com/page/ What would be the best way to clean up this setup? Cheers.

How Important is Meta Description on Non-Entry Pages?
If a page is never used as an entry page to your website -- in other words it's an obscure, relatively unimportant page that never ranks high enough in the search engines to be in the first few pages of the search results for any significant number of searches -- does editing the META Description really have any significant benefit? I guess the question could also be phrased as, does the Google Search Algo factor in the META Description tag, or is it only used for display purposes on the search results and doesn't affect ranking?

Should you automatically resolve URLs with extra trailing slashes added by accident?
Hi - I was just wondering whether a URL with extra trailing slashes should actuall redirect to the version without the extra trailing slashes... e.g. www.domainname.com/folder////// should automatically resolve to www.domainname.com/folder/ - what is your opinion on this?

Client has moved to secured https webpages but non secured http pages are still being indexed in Google. Is this an issue
We are currently working with a client that relaunched their website two months ago to have hypertext transfer protocol secure pages (https) across their entire site architecture. The problem is that their non secure (http) pages are still accessible and being indexed in Google. Here are our concerns: 1. Are co-existing non secure and secure webpages (http and https) considered duplicate content?

2. If these pages are duplicate content should we use 301 redirects or rel canonicals?
3. If we go with rel canonicals, is it okay for a non secure page to have rel canonical to the secure version? Thanks for the advice.0 -
Page title inconsistency
Hi folks, Our agency rebranded from New Brand Vision to Decibel Digital a few weeks ago. Most things seem to be fine, 301 redirected the site and our site looks much better however there is one issue. When searching for our responsive site using my Iphone5, the page title appears as "New Brand Vision", even though "New Brand Vision" isn't within the source code. Our page title is <title></span><span data-mce-mark="1">Creative Digital Agency in London | Decibel Digital </span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1"></title> which is picked up on Desktop, but not through mobile search when sourcing our responsive site. Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks!
