Which Is More Important? Building a web page for customer reviews or a careers page?
-
Hello,
I am wondering which would be more important to have on a website a customer review page or a careers page?
And as far an SEO advantage which is more important and why?
-
Yes have both. You need to have a page for EVERYTHING you do if you are a services business like a plumbers. I want to see all your employees smiling and looking like they aren't going to rip me off, I want their qualifications and how you are a great plumber and have been in business many years and I'd like to see every type of project that you do or a portfolio so I can see if you're the sort of plumber with one little van who comes and unblocks my drain or whether you can plumb in my £20,000 under-floor heating system.
I also need prices for everything and how you charge for things. Not just a 'oh we'll see when we get there' I want itemised and listed prices for jobs and then price tags on your portfolio jobs so I can compare them to mine.
I am actually looking for a plumber at the moment and their websites are dreadful. No qualifications, no experience, no pictures of the team, no idea how big or how long the business has been operating and no trust factors.
The social proof (reviews) shouldn't necessarily be confined to one page. Spread them out throughout your other content. Where you make a claim (we have the cheapest boiler systems) have a review where a customer has said, "and they're great value too" so I trust you're not just making it up.
Because people don't trust tradesmen - thee are huge trust issues - because in the past (and still now to an extent) plumbers will try to charge what they think you can afford or add charges on for remeasures and extra things 'we've found in the system'. You need to say that you can assess a system and thet sometimes the price will be more if there are unforeseen things. But come on let's fact it how many unforeseen things can there be. I give prices for everything and I'm a dentist - the human body is more unpredictable than a heating system. So you need to bust this myth wide open with open and honest prices. Don't just say 'we're open and honest' prove it with reviews that say these things about you. And with prices attached to your jobs that you've done or broad, ballpark prices on your website for the type of work that you do.
Team and recruitment pages are also trust factors because they show that you are a growing business. So have each team member and maybe a review where they've been mentioned by name as being especially friendly or efficient.
Then you'll be ahead of 99% of the other plumbers on the planet. Just like i'm ahead of 99% of the other dentists by using the same strategy of openness in a field where people are expecting pain and a big bill at the end of it. Just like you.

Thank you, Steve.

If both are important to you, than have both. The intent on those two things are different and will be looked at as such for search.
Using the proper structured data as Roman mentioned for both types of content will help search learn about your content faster and provide opportunities for rich results in your market.

Hello Roman,
The objective is to optimize both of course. I was just having a discussion with my SEO analyst and we were trying to figure out if we cant have both pages which one would be more important to have out of the two.
We have a plumbing company which we are always in need of techs, but we also want new customers to see our reviews.
Does that make sense?

I am wondering which would be more important to have on a website a customer review page or a careers page?
And as far an SEO advantage which is more important and why?Ok, let me understand your question because it's very ambiguous question.
Both pages have benefits, both of them, reviews and job board are supported by GoogleReview
https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/reviewJob Posting
https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/job-postingSo both can give you visibility but the main question here
what is your main goal?

Why is my contact us page ranking higher than my home page?
Hello, It doesn't matter what keyword I put into Google (when I'm not signed in and have cleaned down my browsing history) the contact us page ranks higher than the home page. I'm not sure why this is, the home page has a higher page authority, more links and more social media shares, the website is an established one. When I have checked Google Analytics my home page gets more people landing on it than the contact us page. It looks like people are ignoring the contact us page and scrolling down until they find the home page. I'd appreciate any help or advice you might have. Thank you.

Wrong Page is Ranking
My client is an Ecommerce reseller of a few major scooter brands. We currently rank fifth for a particular brand name but our main brand page isn't the one that ranks. Instead, it's a product page. The main brand page has an A rating from Moz for the desired keyword phrases. Neither page has any backlinks. Any ideas on why our main brand page would be outranked by a product page? What could we do to change this?

Home page keyword effecting internal page ranking
Hello, My client has a second keyword for the home page that is competitive. The home page is not being ranked for this keyword. Instead, an internal category page is ranking. This internal category page is more relevant than the home page - it shows the categories for the actual products that this term refers to. But everyone around us in Google's page results has far more backlinks than the internal page, and we're all heavily optimized for this term. My question is, is it safe to pull the second term off of the home page or is this internal page strong because it is somehow being strengthened by the home page optimization?

Page Title
Hi All, I am wondering if you could help me please. I am getting the following result after I run my On-Page Analysis Avoid Multiple Page Title Elements _Easy fix _ <dl style="font-style: normal;"> <dt>Page titles</dt> <dd>"Aquashowers-Shower Repairs Dublin -" and "Aquashowers - Shower Repairs Dublin"</dd> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>Web pages are meant to have a single title, and for both accessibility and search engine optimization reasons, we strongly recommend following this practice.</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>Remove all but a single page title element.</dd> </dl> Does this mean that i have 2 pages that are nearly identical or i should only name a page with one word? The reason i ask is because i have 1 page called "Aquashowers-Shower Repairs Dublin" and another called "Aquashowers-Dublin Shower Repair" I don't have a page called "Aquashowers - Shower Repairs Dublin" (with the space inbetween the words and the hyphen) Any help would be great. Thanks again Aidan

Optimization of home page
Hi there I have an issue which, despite searching hard, I simply cannot find the right solution for. We have an index page that used to rank pretty well for a main industry keyword. However following a revamp of the site last year the kw slipped and no longer brings in decent traffic levels. The problem seems to be that the old static site had a sprinkling of variable anchor text links that brought value to the home page. Instead of the main anchor being "home" we would revert to "main keyword" and variations across the site sometimes in t he content but mainly on the nav bars. However the new CMS design structure restricts us considerably with anchor distribution and so instead we opted for the site logo on the masthead to have an ALT tag for "main keyword" but so as not to game google too much we added .."home" to the tag. Probably pointless but we figured it could do no harm. This ALT text is site wide Problem now is that we have lost the spread of internal nav bar anchors and variety etc. We have slipped in the serps for "main keyword" and I cant help thinking we are not maximising the anchors as we should. So what Im coming to is this.... How can we tell if Google is picking up the ALT tage anchor as the main anchor to rank the site at the expense of all internal text anchors. Despite retaining lots of embedded anchors - according to the Moz metrics these are not being picked up because OSE suggests the ALT tag anchor is taking precedence. The serps probably support this view as well. Should we: a) Vary the masthead ALT if there is no way of avoiding this being the most important link / anchor on the page b) Remove the ALT anchor and instead opt for content links high on the page (we do have nav bar links saying "Home" site wide as well which may overrid the embedded links?) c) Leave the ALT alone and still push for content anchors as described in b) What is the best way to handle this..? Best wishes and thanks Morch
