Greek SEO Menu Catecory Keywords with Lowercase or Hypercase? With tones or not?
-
Hello to all,
Αs you know the Greek language is very special, wonderful but so difficult at the same time...!
The same difficulty i face when im trying to use the adwords keyword planner tool, to choose the wright words for a new menu category when i built new SEO for a new site.
I encounter a major problem with keywords who have the same meaning and some people use the right spelling and others use wrong spelling! I give you an example with word "κάρτα μνήμης" who means in english "sd card".
In Greek language we have tones and we can wrote the word "κάρτα μνήμης" without a tones -> "καρτα μνημης" and without wright spelling and without tones at the same time -> "καρτα μνημησ".
Keyword planner give me another results for each word whatever it has the same meaning! ex. (καρτα μνημης = 0 clicks, κάρτα μνήμησ = 210 clicks and καρτα μνημησ = 2400 clicks!!!)
If i put the menu keywords with Hypercase you think that i am ok?
I wonder if i use the wright spelling and orthography and i put them with Lowercase if I have a problem and didn't take the full of clicks of all keywords with the same meaning!
I prefer for better design Lowercase's but if i have a problem with Seo i will change it!
Thanks,

Mario, hello from Athens
The keyword planner tool has some peculiar functionality when it comes to Greek as you describe. Do not get fooled though - even though the tool has some issues, the google search engine itself has no problem knowing that toned and non toned greek characters are the same that that an σ and an ς are the same character (used in different cases).
So to answer your question - go with properly spelled and toned words and if you prefer lowercase then that is fine, you will not be losing out on potential traffic because of which 's' is used on the end of the words, but in the kw planner tool you will want to try all potential combinations of tones and sigmas to make sure you have the best idea of traffic patterns.
Hope it helps!

How to rank for a keyword
Hi guys, I'm looking to rank a new blog for a search term which we currently already rank #1 for. I want to create a blog which provides a better solution to a searchers query and knock our current #1 page for this new one. Is there a way to do this simply without losing the real-estate the currently ranked #1 page has already accumulated? Or is just a matter of working on this new blog to find it's own way to the top? Thanks in advance, James

Does using a hash menu system drive SEO power to my sub-pages?
My website (a large professional one) uses a interesting menu system. When a user hovers over text (which is not clickable), then a larger sub-menu appears on the screen, when they hover over something else, then this sub-menu changes or disappears. This menu is driven by a hash(#), which makes me wonder. I this giving my sub-pages an SEO kick? Or... is there another way that we should be doing this in order to get that SEO kick?

Changing business name from keyword to brand name, what are the effects on SEO?
I think it's best to give you an example to illustrate what I'm asking here. Current Brand Name: Keyword Driven Brand Name (keyworddrivenbrandname.com) New brand Name: KDBN (kdbn.com) What will the effects of this change be. I'm slightly worried that we have lots of links with the anchor text "Keyword Driven Brand Name" and we rank very well for terms like "Keyword Driven" and "Brand Name". I guess what I'm asking is, do we need to go and change all those anchors to KDBN and will this upset our search rankings. Or do we leave the existing anchors? But will Google see this as over-optimised anchor text and penalise our website? Decisions decisions! Also, should we leave the old brand name in our title tags, at least for the transitional period, i.e. KDBN | Targeted Keyword | Keyword Driven Brand Name Any help with this would be really appreciated, Many thanks

Does having a ? on the end of your URL affect your SEO?
I have some redirects that were done with at "?" at the end of the URL to include google coding (i.e. you click on an adwords link and the google coding follows the redirected link). When there is not coding to follow the link just appears as "filename.html?". Will that affect us negatively SEO-wise? Thank you.

# element above Menu - Is there any SEO Value to it
Is there any Value to having the H1 element above the MENU in a Typical Application ? My intention is to tell the "Bot" that the H1 element is more important than the Menu Items . Are there any examples of such sites . The closest that I have seen is (NOT MY SITES) http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/ and http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/cheap-flights/from-dallas-texas/1531/?airport_code=dfw&depsub=1&c2calert=0&deal_alert=0&from_hp=true Here they (second link) they have H1 above the Bread Crumb ( they dont have any menu though).
