Ahrefs Much Higher Than Competitors But Competitors Doing Significantly More Traffic?
-
Hey guys,
I'm baffled by checking my Ahrefs ratings lately. It looks like our rating just went up considerably... from over 1 million to now around 500k. One of my main competitors, however, has a much lower Ahrefs rank (over 3 million) but he does a considerable more amount of traffic than we do... how is this? My domain rating is higher than his by a lot. Very curious how this works.

Your Rank talks about the overall performance of your site but not about of optimization for a specific keyword. For example, you have a website of Health-Care your PA of 40 and you publish an article related to weight loss. So if this article is not optimized for that keyword or even worts if the crawler marks your page as a submitted but no index (check the On-Page Grader Tool here at Moz, also check your Search Console Account) then my friend your PA, in that case, is useless.
Another example, I saw it a lot of local business owners complained to me that Google is not ranking their sites, needing help and asking me why? and how to fix it? and then when I checked notice that there no local business schemas, they have no local citation, and their NAP and local packs simply do not exist. So what happens in that case? its simple, they do not rank.
So keeping in mind that I do not have any information these are the task that I can suggest.
Check your Search Console Account > Search Analytics and take your time to evaluate every aspect of the reports ( which keywords are you ranked for? , Wich pages? How many Impressions and what about the CTR. Example if you are in position 9 for a specific keyword with 500 Impressions and a CRT of 20% well there you have an opportunity

Lol probably shouldn't advertise that on this forum as I'm sure some of them are probably on it as well. Just looking at it, I'm at 500k for my Ahrefs rank and they are at 3 million but they get like 10 times more organic traffic than we do... And my alexa ranking is even higher (lower) than theirs... this confuses me. How can they be getting so much more traffic than us but our rankings are supposedly way higher. Additionally, our Ahrefs DR rating is 53 to their 37... does this make sense to you?

So you need to keep in mind that Ahref, Moz, and Semrush use their own algorithm to predict the Search Result on Google, but they are not Google, so all of them are a reference useful but always a reference.
Can you share some of your competitors maybe I can find something that you are missing.

Competitor using our product descriptions
Hi, We have a competitor (with a higher DA) using some content from our product pages word for word on a few of their product pages. It's only a couple paragraphs per product page (including the main product description), not the entirety of the content on the page. It also appears they have scraped some content from another authoritative competitor (and even left their brand name mentioned on it!) I've read mixed thoughts on whether plagiarized content will harm the original site, but am concerned since it is an authoritative site. Should I be concerned since it's only parts of our product page? Thank you all!

My competitor's sneaky link building technique
Hi, I can't figure out how my competitor seems to fit four invisible nav menus into her home page. If you view her page source and type "/about" for example, it shows five examples of the text linking to her "about" page. But four of them can't be located on the web page (they are hidden). How does she do this? She basically has four duplicate links that are counted for SEO but can't be seen on the webpage. address: http:// camilla peffer.com. au/ Any ideas?

How much should I analyze my competitors?
Hi, Recently I've started a competitor research (aka competitive analysis). A few hours after I began, I've started to feel that maybe I'm doing too much unnecessary work. What I've been doing so far is analyzing the competitor's links (using the Dr Pete's Link Profiling excel and some other things), and their site optimization. The on-site optimization analysis has been very light, just to see if the competitors are doing something really well, or not. But still, I think that maybe I'm doing too much work. So, I'd like to see your thoughs: How much work is necessary when doing competitor analysis? What things do you analyse? And how much do you report to the clients? Thank you all in advance! Ivan

Screaming Frog for competitor research
Hi guys, Does somebody experienced an issue with Screaming Frog spider while trying to crawl a website? It's weird since no error message appears and at the same time the crawler cannot crawl anything. There is no restriction in the robots.txt. Has someone encountered such an issue? Thank you. Cheers

Can anyone suggest a AHREF's alternative?
Hello Everyone,
Competitive Research | | Juratovic
Now that AHref's has killed their keyword analysis I am on the search for a substitute.I just can't see paying $80 per month for their link analysis only even-though I do find their link index to be much much much more updated then any other company even SeoMoz (sorry Rand and company). Does anyone have any suggestions? SemRush is the only one I have seen to come close. Thank you! Pete0 -
Would sharing the same IP address with competitors in the same market hurt SEO?
I work for the Chevy dealership in New York who is trying to rank against other Chevy dealerships in the same area. All the dealerships, including my client, are using the same Chevy endorsed CMS (Cobalt). I just noticed that all of these competitors, including my client, are using the SAME IP address. Would it be beneficial to SEO if we were to ditch the Cobalt platform and choose another one that gave us a unique IP address? Have any of you run into this before? Any help would be appreciated.
