How to Optimize With Wordpress SEO Plugin YOAST?
-
Hi Everyone,
I am currently using Moz's page optimization format to improve our website's SEO. https://mathandmovement.com/
This is the format, these are all of the areas that we need to improve for each of our website's pages, according to Moz.
include 3 keywords max:
<url>www.mysite.com/my-keyword-phrase</url>
<page title="">2 keywords max <title>Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword - Brand</title></page>
2 keywords max:
keywords in my headers
2 keywords max:
keywords in my headers
![keyword](image file)
<focus keyword="">1 with YOAST</focus>
We are currently using the free version of YOAST for our SEO. My question to you is this, will our pages still have good SEO if we use appropriate keywords (high monthly volume, below 40 difficulty ranking, High Organic CTR,) and put them in the format above? Or since the free version of YOAST only let's us optimize 1 keyword, will we still rank for the other two/three that we put in our meta and page titles/h1s, h2s, urls, and overall paragraph text?
Please also let us know what we can do to improve our SEO!
Thanks so much,
Emma

Hi Emnma,
Yoast does not do seo for you. It gives guidelines to follow. When you insert a keyword in the keyword slot, the software only matches the seo suggestions based on the keyword. If you want to check 3 keywords. Change the keyword you put in the keyword box.
Those keywords are not added to meta data or anything like that. The upgrade of the plugin gives you a couple extra perks, but all the main stuff is available for free! Being able to add 5 keywords to optimize for allows you to see how your content matches up. You will have multiple keywords that do not get a green light and they shouldn't
The other advice big advice i can give you is do not optimize your content for green lights. If you are trying to optimize for green lights much of your content will not be organic. It will be produced to meet the minimum requirements to get the green lights. Here is an interesting article by yoast on it https://yoast.com/want-green-bullet-wp-seo/
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Emma,
I'd highly recommend you do the new free SEO course that the team at Yoast has just released: https://yoast.com/academy/course/free-seo-course-seo-for-beginners/
It'll help you understand both SEO and the plugin a lot better.
In my opinion, the premium plugin is worth getting. Yoast typically has a number of sales on it throughout the year, so you can pick it up a bit cheaper.
Good luck!

WordPress Themes and SEO
I am helping out a client with updating their website.

The theme they currently have hasn't been updated in ages (I am going to guess years). Would there be a difference in updating to the most recent version of their theme and changing them to a completely different theme? Or because they update in the current theme is so large anyway, it won't make a difference in terms of SEO. The reason I ask is that they don't know their Themeforest details to log in and download the most recent version of the theme, so they would have to re-purchase it, and with the hosting, they have access to a range of themes includes in their package. Is a Wordpress AMP plugin sufficient, or should we upgrade our WP theme to an AMP theme?
Hello there, our site is on a Flatsome Wordpress theme (which is responsive and does not support AMP), and we are currently using the AMP for Wordpress plugin on our blog and other content rich pages. My question is - is a plugin sufficient to make our pages AMP friendly? Or should we consider switching to a theme that is AMP enabled already? Thanks!

SEO suggestions for a directory
Hi all, I am new to SEO. I work for a ratings and review website, like TripAdvisor and LinkedIn. How would one go about setting up SEO strategy for national directories that have local suggested pages? What can be a good practice. For example, Tripadvisor has many different restaurants across the UK. What would they do to improve their SEO? How do they target correct links? How do they go about building their Moz Score? Would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!

Menu Structure & SEO
Hi I have been trying to decide whether we need to change our menu structure http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/ We have a lot of subcategories which are not in the menu structure and for SEO I wonder whether its best to have menu drop downs, so if a customer hovers over one category, it will display all the subcategories within this. I am concerned that sub categories we are trying to rank are many levels away from the homepage e.g If you want to find leather office chairs from the homepage, you have to go to the 'More categories' link, then choose seating > office seating > leather office seating. Users need to do a lot of navigating before seeing what we offer. I would prefer if a user could see these options in the menu when they hover over it. Does anyone think this would help SEO or just customer journey? Thank you

Using WP All Import csv import plugin for wordpress to daily update products on large ecommerce site. Category naming and other issues.
We have just got an automated solution working to upload about 4000 products daily to our site. We get a CSV file from the wholesalers server each day and the way they have named products and categories is not ideal. Although most of the products remain the same (don't need to be over written) Some will go out of stock or prices may change etc. Problem is we have no control over the csv file so we need to keep the catagories they have given us. Might be able to create new catgories and have products listed under multiple categories? If anyone has used wp all import or has knoledge in this area please let me know. I have plenty more questions but this should start the ball rolling! Thanks in advance mozzers

SEO issues with Magento
Hi Everyone, We use Magento CMS for our site and we are having a frustrating time resolving our SEO issues. The site was very poorly managed in years past and in the past year I have redesigned and cleaned up many things. However we are recently having trouble with indexing and keyword ranking. Issue #1: Our main keyword ranking has dropped quite a bit while our other less important keywords have steadily risen. I suspect a very strict robots.txt implemented back in early January may have been the culprit. We have since been modifying it with out much luck. Many of our pages are still blocked. 12/05/12 : ranked 12th 1/09/13: ranked 19th 1/16/13: ranked 35th Now: out of top 50 (52nd) Issue #2: Not a single image is being indexed. We are 0 for 582 according to Webmaster tools. Not sure why... Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated as I have great determination and interest in learning the correct way to fix/do this. Wordpress blog integration with full website effect on SEO
I have searched and searched for the answer to this question and can't find it. We are going to be launching a Wordpress blog on our domain shortly, however we have a much larger site that is mixed with static and dynamic pages full of custom programming tied to databases, etc. that we are running around the blog and can't integrate that into Wordpress due to its complexity. What this means is we have to install Wordpress on our servers somehow separate from the pages of our website. What I am wondering is if we run Wordpress in the /blog directory of our site as a separate installation if it will inherit the domain authority of our domain (currently around 60) or if it will be viewed as a separate site and get no ranking. Also, will our main site inherit the additional link juice from the inbound links that we get from the blog with it being separate from the main site? How does this need to be setup on our webservers to ensure the blog gets authority of the domain, and the blog contributes maximum SEO value to the domain? Any help would be appreciated.
