Internation SEO question

I have a domain in the UK with ccTLD ending in ac.uk our website is www,metfilmschool.ac.uk and it ranks really well in the UK, we also own metfilmschools.com and we want to improve our SEO in the USA?
Should I use the ccTDL domain and create a subdomain or should I use the .com domain?
Also. because both sites are in English what are the best practices not to duplicate content and avoid being penalized by Google?
Thanks
Cassio

Hi Cassio
I would use the .com for the US but you must remember to add an hreflang tag to both sites pointing to each other. This avoids Google thinking that they present duplicate content.
Language-Location
Read all about it here:
https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag and
here: [https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en)
Done correctly you won't have any problems.
If you then went to other countries you could use subdirectories of the .com so say example.com/es for Spain.
I hope that helps

Ya, like Pau said that country code is going to ding you. Supposedly there is a benefit to using country code suffix addresses, but personally I think .com is always the way to go.

Hi Cassio
In my opinion you should use the .com domain because the other domain is for a specific country like UK. In my experience specific domains of a country don’t work very good in other countries. For global SEO better global domains like .com, and for United States a .us or .com domain are good options.
About the content, try to talk sometimes about different things of the same topic and other times the same things but with other point of view. It could be specially interesting if you talk about local things of US or UK on each of them, like news, towns, famous people or events about the topic in the country. This will give you more original content on each of them.
Hope that helps...
Have a good weekend!

Hi fellow Moz users! I am managing SEO at our company. Perhaps some of you out there also have the problem of wanting to make SEO changes on your website but lack the developer resources to make significant changes? What are some of the things I can do in my power (can't do any backend work) to make SEO better? Currently, I have: Social media (including Moz local tips of business listings) Blog site Refining pictures Google analytics to see where we can improve Internal and external links Please feel free to expand on the above but ideally it will be new things that I could get on with! Many thanks,

Local SEO Mastermind Group?
Howdy Folks - I run a small (but growing!) SEO agency in Tennessee. I serve, primarily, local service businesses with Organic SEO and website development. I'm a completely self taught SEO and had an average client rank last year of just over position 2. I have long been dedicated to running my own SEO experiments to try to stay on top of what is working. With the constant changes to SEO, and the growing agency, I find I don't have the time to run all of the SEO experiments that I'd like to ensure that our packages are still giving the best value to our clients. I'm looking to see if 1 - 4 individuals, also running local SEO agencies, would like to form a sort of "mastermind group". Share ideas, successes and failures on a level that wouldn't be practical in a forum setting. I'm happy to share what has been working for my clients and would welcome a fresh set of eyes to see what we're missing. **Discussions like: ** Link Acquisition Scaling Staff, Content Creation and Systems Scaling Social Media Outreach Local Outreach Successes - Email Templates White/Black Hat SEO Techniques If you think it would be a good fit. Best approach for international multi country SEO
Hi all We're working with a client that is in the travel industry and they already have a relatively new site (setup in September 2014) which is on a .com domain We've completed a digital strategy for them and have identified 12 key markets within Europe, North America, South America and the Asia Pacific region. We have suggested an approach of setting up individual local websites for these countries and for countries in the same region sharing a common language (like USA & Canada) we're thinking to use a subdomain on the existing .com (eg. amaricas.clientdomain.com) Does this sound like a solid approach? thanks

How to promote a local SEO/Web design company via a blog (mainly blogging) and social media?
Hello, What is possible as far as promoting a local SEO and Web Design Company with a blog? I'm offering simple web design, both informational and product based, as well as SEO for existing informational and product-based companies here in Boise, Idaho. At first it won't be face to face so there's no local SEO. I honestly don't like to sell. I've done it for years and I'd like to spend my time blogging (mainly blogging), doing social media, and volunteering. How can I use this approach to get a beginning agency off the ground? Please don't tell me to go push my services. I'd like to get my company off the ground through avenues that have integrity to me. How do I do this? Feel free to include articles and videos in your response if appropriate. Thank you.

Amount of Internal Links?
Does anyone know how much internal linking is helpful in ranking? And, what is the recommended amount of internal links in a page of the website? I have seen some websites adding so much internal links ranking good but not sure about the recommended amount.

Local SEO for B&B - Attracting International Customer
Hi Guys, Hope the MOZ expert community will be able to help me 🙂 What would be the best way to manage the SEO for a Bed and Breakfast ? As the B&B is in a touristic place in France attracting lots of German, American and British tourists, the website will be in French, translated in English and German. It will be set up under a .fr extension and using wordpress multisite for each languages, so it will look like this: French: www.mydomain.fr English: en.mydomain.fr German: de.mydomain.fr They'll roughly have the same content for the business part, but they'll have different articles on their respective blogs. Now my questions are: If I sign up to Google my business (http://www.google.com/business/) Would I be able to translate all my business descriptions, separate the reviews per language, use google+ for different language? If not, then should I sign up for the French version of "google my business" and then open 2 separate G+ pages for the English and German version ? Can I open 3 different "google my business" account for each language but with the same google account, same telephone number and same business address ? Should I actually "translate" my business name and create 3 separate website so I can open a "Google my business" for each, but then they'll still have the same address and phone number ? Basically, I want to find the best solution for people around the world to see the content in their own language (reviews, blog post...) and also show up on map listings for google.com /.co.uk / .fr / .de etc... Other social media: Facebook: should I have one page and target the English language for each post in English, etc... Or should I have 3 facebook page in each language ? Should I have 3 pinterest accounts, or should I create 3 boards for each language so I can describe each pictures in proper language Miscellaneous Don't hesitate to give me any other important tips that I should think about before launching ! After being an employee for many years, I want to rock my own business 🙂 Cheers

How can you perform productive local SEO when the company is moving?
I'm working with a brick and mortar store that is planning to move to a new location in a few months. All the citation information is going to have to be updated. Is there anything productive you can do in the interim to help their rankings when you know you'll be facing an update of all their citations?

Content Across International Websites
I am wondering if anyone could clear up some questions I have regarding international SEO and how to treat the content placed on there. I have recently launched several websites for a product internationally, each with the correct country domain name etc and I have also followed the guidelines provided by webmaster tools on internationalisation. All the websites are targeted towards English speaking countries and I have rewritten most of the of the content on there to suite the English style of the targeted country. This is being said however I am finding mixed bags of information on what to do in treating large chunks of potential duplicate content. For example my main .com website which has been running several years (and is targeted to the UK) has a lot of well written articles on there which are popular with the visitors. I am needing to find out if duplicating these articles onto the international versions of the websites, without rewriting them, would have a detrimental effect on SEO between all the sites. I have done a site search for each domain name to see if they are cropping up in other local Google versions (e.g .ca site in Google.com.au etc) and they are not. Does this mean Google is localised to its results regarding duplicate content or is it treated at the root level? Any information to point me in the right direction would be a big help.
