Fetch as Google showing Tablet View, not Desktop View
-
Hi Mozers,
Fetch as Google is showing Tablet view and not Desktop view. Does anyone know why this is? And does that mean that Googlebot is reading the Tablet version instead of the Desktop version (same HTML but different visualization)?
Thanks!!
Yael

Hi, I agree with Joseph that what you're seeing is probably due to the style breakpoints you have on that page.
**However - **while fetch and render gives us some insight into how Google might interpret a page, it is not what Google is "seeing". Google is viewing the page code and, while there is some evidence it will deprioritise content which is hidden with methods like display:none I really don't think your site will suffer because your break point is different from the one in fetch and render. Changing the break point could conceivably involve quite a lot of front end dev or working with your site templates to avoid causing issues. I understand your concern but I honestly wouldn't put this to the top of your priority list.
Hope that helps!

Try updating your resolution queries to a max height of 1080, replacing the block of height:100%. Seems like google bot is crawling your site and queries are under a desktop resolution.

Hello Yael,
That sounds like the viewport and breakpoint settings with your website, when you design a responsive website with your own screen you might want to use the chrome dev tools to check if the viewport cut off at the right size.
This guidelines from Google might help: https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/design-and-ux/responsive/
This post might give you some idea what is the best screen size to use: https://www.hobo-web.co.uk/best-screen-size/
If it wasn't above mentioned issue maybe you can share your website address so we can better tell what's happening.
Hope this helps,
Joseph Yap

Multiple Google+ Local (Google Place) under one email address
As a automotive dealership group, we have 15+ business listings set up under one Google+ local account. Google+ Local (Google Places) offers the ability to upload a data file for 10+ listings, so we've kept all listings under one login for efficiency. Is there any specific local SEO benefit or any general benefit at all to having each business listing set up under their own separate email address?

Does Google index url with hashtags?
We are setting up some Jquery tabs in a page that will produce the same url with hashtags. For example: index.php#aboutus, index.php#ourguarantee, etc. We don't want that content to be crawled as we'd like to prevent duplicate content. Does Google normally crawl such urls or does it just ignore them? Thanks in advance.

How to see which site Google views as a scraper site?
If we have content on our site that is found on another site, what is the best way to know which site Google views as the original source? If you search for a line of the content such as "xyz abc etc" and the other site shows before yours in search results, does that mean that Google views that site as the original source?

Google Places not appearing
is it possible to be sandboxed for a google places page? one of our clinics has a places page, and it was doing fine (http://www.google.com/maps/place?cid=5542269234389030356) but now whenever we set our location to trinity,fl and try to search for weight loss, weight loss trinity, etc.. it doesnt come up. it only comes up if we search medi weight loss trinity. also, when we go into our google places dashboard and try to edit the pictures, it doesnt show the same pictures on the actual locations page. for example, in our dashboard we have 5 pictures, but on the actual places page, 3 pictures are showing (none of which are in our dashboard). any ideas?
