.ac.uk question!
-
Hi guys,
Recently won a follow link from a .ac.uk university website. Unfortunately, this isn't showing in Link Explorer. We won this link a few weeks ago now. I'm wondering why it hasn't shown up as of yet?
Best,
Ross

There's nothing technically wrong with the link / page:
- It has a self referencing canonical which doesn't point elsewhere
- The link does not utilise a no-follow tag
- The page is not blocked from indexation via Meta no-index or robots.txt
- The domain and sub-domain level metrics for this site are strong in Majestic, Moz and Ahrefs!
The Moz link explorer will only handle domains, sub-domains or exact URLs. On Ahrefs and Majestic I also have the option to check SEO authority by 'path', which means the cumulative SEO authority and inbound metrics for all pages contained within the "/employabilitypoints/" folder
Although the sub-domain has nearly 100,000 backlinks connecting with it, I can only find evidence of 7 backlinks to this specific section of the site (and not all of those are still live)
It might be possible that although the site is pretty good, the area of the site where you gained the link isn't worth that much. As such, all crawlers (including Moz, Googlebot, Ahrefs etc) are unlikely to prioritise updating their databases re: this specific area of the web
Although all crawlers work differently and have different paths they follow in terms of indexing web-content, most of them will prioritise 'more important' pages (or site sections) for updates. Different crawl bots determine what they feel is important, in different ways
Although neither Moz nor Ahrefs seem to have picked up on the link, Majestic SEO has and using ctrl+F you can find it recorded here:

If you share the linking site I could probably try and figure it out!

Basic SEO question
Hi! One of my clients, a Chiropractic clinic, has a lot of unique content in norwegian. Problem is; we still have problems building backlinks here in norway. Is one possibility to translate this content to another language and try to get backlinks this way? Would a backlink from another country have the same value as a "local" one? If translating the content is an option how would I go about spreading this content? Is outsourcing an option? Cheers!

Question concerning a freelance article link
Hey fellow Mozzers,
Link Building | | MountainMedia
I was performing a link audit for a client and came across a link linking to a deep page for our client with the link being anchored to a targeted keyword. It's a freelance article that is well written and deals with our client's industry but indirectly. The page has no PR but decent PA and DA. My question is, is there the possibility that Penguin would consider it spammy? The link is located in the author tagline at the bottom of the article. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!0 -
Link Building Question
Hi Community, I am currently doing some link building for a client. I have created a case study in the form of an article based around the client on our own website & linked to one of their service subpages so a user can see what kind of work they do. I am also currently trying to rank the exact same service sub page for 'KEYWORD A'. I have used 'KEYWORD A' in the title of the article (/KEYWORD-A-TEXT-TEXT) and built a link (not exact match anchor text but contains 'KEYWORD A') within the article pointing to the service subpage. Our blog post now out-ranks the service subpage by around 5 pages, my question is: 1. How long does Google take to acknowledge that the client's service subpage is more resourceful for KEYWORD A? Any other hints / tips / advice is appreciated! Thank you

Quick Question About Exact Matched Keyword Domain
if you have lets say tools.examplexxxx.com in which "tools" + "example" makes a good keyword together i.e [example tools] (a good key word). Is it wise to put 300 quality backlinks with exact matched anchor text containing keyword**[example tools]** from niche related domains and not worrying getting hit by penguin.

Some questions about guest posting
After reading this on the SEOMoz blog, I've decided to try some guest posting to gain some backlinks for our real estate site. I have a few questions for those of you who do this regularly: 1. If the site you are posting on allows up to 3 links in the signature box, do you generally use them all? My gut instinct is that one anchor texted link would give me the most bang for my buck. 3. How much attention do you pay to PR or DA? If a site is PR1 but relevant to your niche would you spend the time to write the article? 4. What negatives have you found when writing guest posts? Thanks!
