Value of Links? What is each link worth?
-
Morning Everyone,
I just had this thought and wondered what everyone's opinions were in terms of link value in monetary terms. We'll assume for the purposes of this that the links come from contextually relevant sites and that the sites in question have got the Moz DA from being high quality and have a good quality incoming link profile. Its a bit of a theoretical question, but i guess imagine if the only way you could get links was to pay for them, what would they be worth to you. This is link value for SEO purposes, they will have in addition value from traffic from good sites, that no doubt varies wildly depending on topic.
I assume everyone also agrees on:
-
The first link from a domain is the most valuable
-
High DA sites are worth more than low ones.
So could anyone who has an opinion on the link value suggest a monetary value for links. Its really just using a monetary amount to see how best to target my time. Here is my example of what might be expected, but I am hoping people with more knowledge will perhaps correct it.
DA Rating First Link 2nd-5th Link 5th-10th Link 10Plus Links
5 $5 $2 $1 $0
15 $7 $3 $2 $1
25 $25 $10 $5 $2
35 $45 $20 $7 $3
45 $65 $30 $11 $4
55 $95 $45 $19 $5
65 $200 $100 $45 $6
75 $350 $120 $65 $9
85 $700 $240 $95 $15
95 $1100 $450 $200 $30

Every link is different, in terms of it can either improve or damage your businesses seo. Some links can massively improve your seo, some can actually damage because they might be deemed as spam links, so you might get a penalty. your business only wants quality links.

We run "in house" websites. That gives us knowledge of many other businesses in the industry. For businesses that we don't know, we can easily check professional credentials of individuals and companies.
Google is able to check professional credentials of individuals that include: government issued licenses, professional registrations and memberships, college degrees, wikipedia articles, awarded patents, registered copyright. and publication history in professional journals and on industry websites.
For companies, Google can aggregate the professional credentials of its staff, company certifications such is ISO (and similar), stock exchange listings, wikipedia articles, awarded patents, registered copyright.
DA is a very primitive tool in comparison.
-
I appreciate your answer, but how will you measure respect and relevance? I guess in many ways that is what I was asking but using the DA score as the respect, based on my assumptions that the page in question was reputable and the page is relevant to the topic concerned.
I appreciate that DA is abused, especially at the lower end (maybe at the upper end in some cases as well?!).
-
I my opinion, DA earns zero and position on the page earns zero.
The respect of the organization represented by the website and the relevance of the linking page to the target page are more important.

Is link sharing still worth it?
Hi guys,
Link Building | | ikwilzitzakken.nl
As far as I can see a lot of people still are sharing links from A <-> B, my question is: is it better not to use this? Can it possibly cause a penalty? My compeditors are using it and are ranking better.0 -
Domain Authority and Page authority for external links. What's the difference in value?
Hi Guys. I understand the difference between page authority and domain authority in terms of how likely that page is to rank. But what about a links from a high DA site, but from a low PA page? We’ve identified a client with extremely high DA (73/100), but their blog page has a PA of 1/100. Would a link from this page be pretty much valueless due to the low PA? Or would it still be quite strong as the DA is so high? Perhaps you could point me to some good reading or Moz post on this topic? Thanks guys. Isaac.

I have well over 110 identical backlinks of widely varying quality - is it worth taking the page they're linking to down?
The site on which I'm working has been experiencing a month-to-month decline since the Panda and Penguin updates - I didn't get an unnatural links notification, but have clearly fallen off the face of Google with many of the more important rankings. After running a scan on my backlinks, I found over 110 identical backlinks (it looks like the same medical definition and my website is listed in the endnotes as a source - just the URL, not anchor text), some from reputable websites with high pageranks and others that look very 'spammy.' We've redesigned the architecture of the site, so the actual link itself has a 301 redirect on it, but I'm just wondering exactly how much of a liability is it to have these links out there? I'm guessing it's an all or nothing kind of thing given the identical content on each page - on one hand, I'm pretty frantic to get to the root of the Google penalties and get back in their good graces. On the other hand, I don't want to kill the site completely by going after a set of valuable links. Has anyone dealt with this before?

What are inbound links worth after Panda and Penguin, since a site ranks for the NATIONAL keyword "outdoor furniture" with ONLY 7 INBOUND LINKS!?!?
ARE INBOUND LINKS TODAY ALMOST WORTHLESS??!!? After having been the KING of SEO, down to the toilet? Today I got a great sample from a fellow SEO professional showing a site, rockymountainfurniture.com rank for "outdoor furniture" with ONLY 7 INBOUND LINKS FROM 3 DOMAINS and a domain trust of 14!!!! ON A NATIONAL, VALUABLE, HIGH QUERY VOLUME KEYWORD!! I was stunned, but is this the "NEW SEO WORLD" we live in, so we should skip spending hundreds of hours on link building? There are over 32 different types of inbound links but this is much MORE than a radical change, this is turning SEO as it was up-side-down. Any input, thoughts, ideas?

When removing links should I be worried about bad links from websites that have already been deindexd from Google or should I think that since it is not in these index any more it cant do harm?

So I ran into a site that was not ranking 4 days ago and has over 2 million links to it on some keywords. My guess is this is a link bomb, but the issue is this is pushing one of my sites down. Does anyone know a good way to over come a bomb like this?
So I ran http://www.riogrande.com/ into this site not that long ago and wanted to see if any other SEO's have an opinion on it. I've seen a Google bomb before, but the amount of links going into this URL is insane. The thing is how does one over come a Google Bomb? Do you just wait to see what Google does or do you just hope to rank under that URL? I should also note that it appears that all the keywords to it are relevant to the sites content. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

If I write a PR release on a site such as PRweb with anchor-text links that is picked up and published by other news sites, do the engines consider this duplicate content or additional, beneficial links?
I recently wrote a news release on PRweb that was picked up identically by 8 other news websites, with the same anchor-text links as the original. Is the reproduction of duplicate content and links across different websites like this to the benefit or detriment of SEO and ranking power? Some of the links are: http://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/view/pressrelease/eventa-new-eventa-christmas-parties-website-is-launched-648923?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=Alert&utm_content=pressrelease http://www.prweb.com/releases/christmasparties/neweventasite/prweb8562064.htm Many thanks!!

Followed Links from random forums, is it worth?
I have a competitor that apeears first place in Google with a certain keyword, i explore their site, and they have a lots of forums poiting to their page. What they do is, just go to a random forum, comment some threat and they put the anchor in sig, with that keyword, linking to their page. Well, from what i read in SEOmoz articles, Google its no supose to penalyze this pages? Because thoose are pages (forums) that dont have nothing to do -subject- with the page that apears in first place? Its a good practise? Should i do the same (x2) to get the first place in google? (Sorry for my English) Thank you.
