Fundamental things to concentrate on for Domain Authority

I'm looking for the fundamental things to concentrate on when trying to improve my Domain Authority as it is's poor for my area and I want our business to compete with other businesses in our county.
We're an automotive company www.chorleygroup.co.uk - we need to compete with other automotive companies in our areas.

Thanks for getting back to me about this, a big help.
In the past, I have tried contacting websites that have mentioned us in their articles etc... and asked for a link back to our website in which a lot have turned around and said that they don't do that anymore, linking to websites. How can I combat this?

Domain Authority is a Moz algorithm that measures both link quantity and quality. Google's metric is PageRank. Since Google doesn't show us the PageRank of our pages, metrics like DA can be used as guidelines but you need to know that it is not used by Google. (Read the third paragraph of this recent Whitboard Friday: https://moz.com/blog/seo-processes-easier-increased-pagerank-domain-authority)
But the way you improve your DA or your PageRank is by increasing both the quantity and quality of the links pointing to as many pages of your site as possible. And then you can also use internal links to pass that authority around your website.

Why has my clients domain authority dropped 4 points?
I have been noticing odd results with the domain authority stat for one of my clients' wesbites. Whilst they have considerbaly improved for keyword rankings for granite worktops bristol and granite kitchen worktops bristol, I have noticed that the domain authority of the site has recently dropped from 12-6. How defined does the anchor text need to be for a domain url?
Ok, I'm looking to clean up my domain with irrelevant Anchor text linking to specific URL's. Whether, it's my root domain or a particular product URL. I'm finding a wide variety of terms (anchor text) pointing to my homepage, category and finally my product pages. Example, the Anchor text "Paragon Print Systems" is pointing to my homepage "barcodefactory.com" does this hurt my homepage enough to either have the link/anchor text removed from linking to my homepage? thanks much!, Warren

Duplicate content on domains we own
Hello! We are new to SEO and have a problem we have caused ourselves. We own two domains GoCentrix.com (old domain) and CallRingTalk.com (new domain that we want to SEO). The content was updated on both domains at about the same time. Both are identical with a few exceptions. Now that we are getting into SEO we now understand this to be a big issue. Is this a resolvable matter? At this point what is the best approach to handle this? So far we have considered a couple of options. 1. Change the copy, but on which site? Is one flagged as the original and the other duplicate? 2. Robots.txt noindex, nofollow on the old one. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Editing Author Pages
Hi, Quick question regarding author pages. I have the blog set as me for my author page. so the url is: mysite.com/blog/author/miles/ Now, seomoz has picked up that my author page is missing meta description. But, this cannot be editied through wordpress as there is no edit option available. I may really be missing something, but where can I alter the author page, I have a feeling it might be fed from G+ but no really sure what part of G+ is used as the description. Thanks Miles

Can Page Authority of a site be higher than its Domain Authority?
I own a website called Takeyourtips.com. While doing a search no Google, I found that the page authority of the home page (31) is higher than the domain authority (23). I was wondering if it's really possible because my understanding was page authority of a page is determined by its domain authority. Therefore, it the domain authority of a website is 23, none of its page could have a higher page authority. Plus, upon consulting an SEO expert, I was told that neither Domain Authority or Page Authority of a page carries any importance as far as higher ranking of a website is concerned. Is this true? Subfolder v Root Domain for attaining ranking
Hi, We are working with a site that we can refer to as: www.clientsbrand.com.au It has a subsection of our clients services at www.clientsbrand.com.au/keyword The client has now decided that this subsection is in fact the most important thing they should be trying to rank for. A large amount of the content that is already existing under clientsbrand.com.au/topic1 /topic2 /topic3 etc would fit naturally under clientsbrand.com.au/keyword/topic1 etc The root domain is currently not ranking for the keyword they wish to target. I am planning on moving a lot of this content to the subfolder to try and boost that silo and get things going for that keyword. As long as we 301 the old URL's to their corresponding new position are there any issues any of you see with doing this? I am worried there may be some traps for young players I have not considered.
