SEOmoz vs Google Webmaster Tools on incoming links
-
I'm working on basic SEO for http://queueassoc.com.
Google has indexed the non-www verions of the pages and these are what the SERPS return
SEOmoz toolbar shows that all of the incoming links juice goes to the www. versions of the pages, none to the non-www version.
Yesterday I set up GWMT for the site, submitted a sitemap with the www version of the pages and set the default address to the www version.
I had to verify both versions of the site in order to do this and in looking at the non-www version I saw that Google had all the incoming links there and none in the www.version, the opposite of what SEOmoz shows.
Is this just because Google only has the non-www versions in its index? Will they show the links to the www version once they get them in the index?
I'm worried about losing Google Page Rank value or SEOmoz DA by making this switch.

Thanks for that link, I wasn't aware of it.
Yes, I'm trying to get the redirect you mention taken care of. If only the client could tell me who maintains their website!

Google PageRank isn't something I'd worry about in this context. Rand covered what PageRank should and shouldn't be used for in his latest Whiteboard Friday: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/what-is-googles-pagerank-good-for-whiteboard-friday.
I prefer a 301 redirect over GWT preferences. I'd 301 redirect the non-www version to the www version (assuming that the www version has the popularity).
Code and directions are provided on the Web Developer's Cheat Sheet: http://static.seomoz.org/user_files/SEO_Web_Developer_Cheat_Sheet.pdf

The links were set up long ago. I just started the SEO project a few weeks ago. According to SEOmoz Pro toolbar they all point to the www version.
Thanks for your reply.

Did you set up t he links pointing to the www version in the first place? Its not clear from y our question and this might be ther reason. You should ultimately redirect to one or the other and when this is done build linksot the relevant one and you needn't worry anymore then

Duplicate Site Content found in Moz; Have a URL Parameter set in Google Webmaster Tools
Hey, So on our site we have a Buyer's Guide that we made. Essentially it is a pop-up with a series of questions that then recommends a product. The parameter ?openguide=true can be used on any url on our site to pull this buyer's guide up. Somehow the Moz Site Crawl reported each one of our pages as duplicate content as it added this string (?openguide=true) to each page. We already have a URL Parameter set in Google Webmaster Tools as openguide ; however, I am now worried that google might be seeing this duplicate content as well. I have checked all of the pages with duplicate title tags in the Webmaster Tools to see if that could give me an answer as to whether it is detecting duplicate content. I did not find any duplicate title tag pages that were because of the openguide parameter. I am just wondering if anyone knows:

1. a way to check if google is seeing it as duplicate content
2. make sure that the parameter is set correctly in webmaster tools
3. or a better way to prevent the crawler from thinking this is duplicate content Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Mitchell Chapman

Is SeoMOZ Crawl Diagnostics wrong here?
We've been getting a ton of critical errors (about 80,000) in SeoMoz' Crawl Diagnostics saying we have duplicate content in our client's E-commerce site. Some of the errors are correct, but a lot of the pages are variations like: www.example.com/productlist?page=1 www.example.com/productlist?page=2 However, in our source code we have used rel="prev" and rel="next" so in my opinion we should be alright. Would love to hear from you if we have made a mistake or if it is an error in SeoMoz. Here's a full paste of the script:

Tried to find correlation between SEOMOZ statistic and google ranking.
I've made Google US search and than tried to compare SEOMOZ data for first few result. I've used Open Site Explorer and On-Page Report Card. On attached picture you can find this statistic. Pages are sorted in order as they appear in Google search. For me is big question why position 2 and 4 is so hight and 6 is only 6. And what position 6 should do to go up. Thank you. 2s9zlu8.jpg

Competitive Link Finder
Hi, just wondering if I am the only one who is not having much luck lately using the Competitive Link Finder . In the past it has worked pretty well. But as of the past week or so, it has only returned on link. I know there are many of them which should be found. Anyway, just curious if I am solo with this issue.

Keyword Difficulty Tool Problems?
I was just using the keyword difficulty tool and for some reason, some of the keywords show "not enough data"...I'm not sure why this is the case because a few days ago, there was data... Anyway, is this because it take time for the tool to gather data each month, or is it because there's an issue with the GoogleAPI? Thanks a lot for your help!

Links from External Sites not Showing on OpenSite or Google Webmaster Tools
Hi, I asked this in another post, but didn't get a solid answer. For several websites I manage, I have access to their Google Webmaster Tools. When I put the site through there, or the link:// or SEOMoz's OpenSite link reporter, I get not even a fraction of the links that I know are pointing to the websites in question. Some of these links are from home pages or side columns, and some are from articles keep within a website, like at Inc.com. I wondered if the links in question were not themselves being indexed, but if I do a very specific search, I can pull them up in the search results. Is it just common knowledge that these link tools are not accurate? And to assume that somehow, search engines really do see all of the inbound links, even if our reporting tools don't. Thanks in advance!

Site is penalized yet Google WTC and SEOMOZ says it's ok!
My first question on this community.. A high traffic site of mine has been severely hit for over two months. I took a look at GWTC and noticed a lot of suggestions on the HTML suggestions tab, where I believed that one or a combination of these errors/notices might been causing the penalty. At the moment of typing GWTC shows no HTML suggestions and minor meaningless crawl errors. Checking on SEOMOZ reported issues, I see zero errors except for a high number of duplicate page titles resulting from tag pages being accessible in the same tag title in paginations (tag.html?page=x) which can be fixed easily by using rel=canonical but I just know it can't cause such penalty. For reported warnings, site has a decent amount of title element being too long and missing meta tag description tags. I have been very active in the past with 301 inner pages of the site to make pages URLs as unique as possible and results were great, but that was long time ago before taking the hit. The penalty the site suffers from is zero rankings for newly added contents and old contents as well. It has also lost all rankings for its money terms. Site is not banned and still ranking top for its name which is a good thing. I am not sure where else I should be looking and will appreciate any good advices. Thanks!
