Mobile Version SEO question
-
Hi there,
Quick question on mobile SEO. Basically, I don't think I can effectively format my mobile website design unless I just build it as a collection of pictures. This way it'll be possible to format so it doesn't look a jumbled mess. My question - if my mobile version is just essentially HQ screenshots/pictures put together, how will that affect my SEO for mobile?
PS if anyone has suggestions on how I can design my mobile version without affecting desktop I'd appreciate it. I'm using shopify and across many of the themes I've tried whatever I design on desktop has to format on mobile as well. To my knowledge only wix allows you to independently edit the mobile and desktop versions.

@markellw since Google has switched to mobile-first indexing, the mobile version of your site is now more important than your desktop one.
Regarding mobile UX, you can use CSS tabs that are expanded upon click, or accordions expandable upon click. When you do this, make sure that the texts are visible by crawlers. You can either check it with JavaScript turned off, or via Google Search Console. There are multiple mentions on Google Webmaster Hours by JohnMu and others, that Google now reads texts that are hidden by CSS.If you include only images on your mobile version, this will, most likely, decrease your ranks, because the content is still a ranking factor. Google needs to understand what your page is about.

2 Domains, 1 Brand - Content Marketing Strategy Question
I have a customer that has two separate locations for the same business on two different URLs (both connected via Landing Page). I cannot change this. They are in the powersports industry (snowmobiles, ATVs, motorcycles, dirt bikes, etc). The locations are about 10 miles from one another, essentially sell the same brands & products (there are 1 or 2 exceptions), have the same target audience (local & from out-of-state), and have the same goals. They currently rank #1 and #2 for their industry in their area. They now want a content marketing strategy. I face limitations with the CMS (no blog abilities and technical issues that are out of my control), and content marketing can really only consist of custom graphics & custom page creation. Typically, custom pages are utilized by creating Brand Pages describing the major brands to built out authority in those categories, and then try to branch out from there to create individual product-category pages with more unique content to answer more of a question based on the intent. I am very concerned about creating content that will be too similar between the two locations and will thus compete with the other location, so I am thinking I should devise a completely different strategy for 1 location over the other. Is that a good idea? I think with the smaller location, I choose the typical route of creating brand pages, product pages, etc, and then with the bigger location, try to focus on unique content such as buyer's guide, local SEO ideas about the area, FAQs, testimonials, etc. Thoughts/ideas?

SEO for a Deal Blog
Hi, I have a deal blog that is several months old. My established and successful "competitors" have a high Domain Authority (43, 46, 63) but most of their blog posts are very short. Our readers want to know about the coupon, deal, discount, code etc - they don't want 250 + words for each post. However I am concerned that lots of short posts will label my blog as low quality and that Google Panda will get me. My competitors easily get on page 1 of google. Yes they also write articles but majority of their posts are short. I deindexed quite a few short blog posts but my audience googles for coupons and deals like crazy. I try to give as much info as I can without being wordy and annoying but sometimes that still gets me only 100 words. I also write a lot of articles relevant to my niche (mom/baby/maternity) that are high quality and several hundred words. Just looking for input on deal blog SEO. Thanks!

What is your opinion about: SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 (WP plugin)
The purpose of this plugin is to strengthen our On Page SEO by adding new internal linking to the blog post using the most popular keywords used by search engine visitors to find the blog post from a search engine ( incoming search terms ). We can also display the most popular & recent search terms in the sidebar to get a side wide internal linking to the corresponding blog post. New since version 1.25: Automatically convert popular search terms into Post Tags.

SEO issues around post syndication via RSS
There are a number of clients that I have that want to syndicate either posts or video content to other websites via RSS feeds. Each of these are built on a WordPress platform, fyi. Two that this applies to are: http://explosiveoptions.net and http://mrtopstep.com Many of the sites that would pick this content up would be higher Domain and Page Ranks than the original sites. Those that have video content put it up on multiple sites, including YouTube. What can I do in the configuration of the RSS feeds to ensure the credit is maintained to the original website, and are there any other considerations I should be concerned about? Perhaps things that I would ask the other site to do in their incorporation of it to their site? Thanks for your help.

What plugins & tactics are you using for Wordpress meta SEO?
Currently I use All-In-One SEO and I quite like how simple it is to setup and it's stable. Is that still one of the best ones? What are you using these days? Is it worth stripping out the superfluous meta tags that Wordpress now puts in? Is there any value to adding meta descriptions to all my Tag pages and if so, is there a good plugin that will auto magically create unique descriptions for these pages? Same goes for my paginated archives. Thanks!
