Does Google consider breadcrumbs to be duplicate titles?
-
Moz has been flagging a lot of our articles for duplicate titles. I noticed that the website was automatically generating the same words that were used for the titles above the articles and main images. But those are bread crumbs. Does anyone know if Google also considers those duplicate titles?
I'm not sure if the screenshot I'm uploading will appear, but this is one of the blog posts the extra wording was showing up on: https://hometowneautorepairandtireofwoodbridge.com/blog/when-why-replace-spark-plugs/

No, Google does not consider breadcrumbs to be duplicate titles. Breadcrumbs are typically used in website navigation to show the hierarchical structure of a website and help users understand their current location within the site. They are usually displayed near the top of a webpage and provide a clear path back to previous pages or categories.
Duplicate titles, on the other hand, refer to instances where multiple pages on a website have the same or very similar title tags. Duplicate titles can confuse search engines and make it challenging to determine the relevance and uniqueness of each page.
Google encourages webmasters to create unique and descriptive title tags for each page to improve the overall user experience and SEO performance. Breadcrumbs and title tags serve different purposes, and there is no inherent conflict between them in terms of SEO. It's important to use both effectively to enhance the usability and search engine optimization of your website.

Implementing breadcrumbs is a pretty straight forward way to improve a site's SEO and provide better UX. However, there are some times when implementing breadcrumbs could cause more harm than good. Here are a few breadcrumb mistakes you'll want to avoid

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Google generally does not consider breadcrumbs to be duplicate titles. Breadcrumbs are a navigational aid on websites that show users their path from the homepage to the current page. They are typically displayed as a series of clickable links separated by arrows. Breadcrumb links are meant to provide a clear and hierarchical structure of the website's content, helping users navigate easily.

Google's algorithms aim to understand the content and structure of web pages. While it's essential to have unique and descriptive titles for each page to improve SEO and user experience, breadcrumbs are typically not considered part of the main content or title tag. However, it's crucial to ensure that your website's breadcrumb implementation is done correctly and does not generate duplicate content issues. To avoid any potential problems, you should:
Use proper HTML markup for breadcrumbs.
Ensure that breadcrumb links accurately represent the hierarchical structure of your website.
Avoid using the same anchor text in breadcrumbs and page titles if it doesn't make sense in the context.
Keep in mind that Google's algorithms and guidelines may evolve over time, so it's a good practice to stay updated with the latest SEO best practices and guidelines provided by Google or other search engines. -

Page titles are meant to provide a concise and descriptive title for a specific webpage, while breadcrumbs are designed to show the user's path through the website's structure. Google's search algorithms understand the distinction between these elements and do not treat breadcrumbs as duplicate titles.
However, it's important to ensure that both your page titles and breadcrumbs accurately represent the content and hierarchy of your website. Clear and descriptive titles and breadcrumbs can improve user experience and help search engines understand the context of your pages, potentially benefiting your website's search visibility. In my experience, Google generally does not consider breadcrumbs to be duplicate titles. In fact, breadcrumbs can enhance user experience by providing clear pathways to different sections of your site. They offer context and help users easily navigate to their desired destination within the site's hierarchy.
However, it's essential to ensure that the titles used in your breadcrumbs are descriptive, unique, and relevant to the content they represent. This practice not only avoids confusion for users but also aligns with SEO best practices. I did for my subpages because there are not linked with the main product page.

Breadcrumbs are helpful for users to understand their current location within the site's hierarchy and easily navigate back to previous pages. They are also useful for search engines to understand the structure of your website and improve its overall crawl ability and indexability.

Does google penalize you if you post content in french and english on a website
I'm trying to encourage content editors to only post content in either English or French. For example we have a French press release but the team are wanting it on our site in French and English. I thought this would fall under duplicate content rules. Does google penalize you if you post content in French and English on a website?

I am in process of trying to help a client (who I also am an associate for) and they have over 600 pages (which are images) that have the same info in their tag, missing description, and you are talking 1500-2k pixels in their title. I called the host and the owner of the host said "If you were a real seo you would know that the title length doesn't matter." .... help me out here.

Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
