I'm looking for some direction to find better keywords for my sites. Any tips would be appreciated? This question could potentially be too broad.

I'm surprised to see that SEOmoz doesn't have a keyword research tool like Trellian software or wordtracker! I would definitely recommend Trellian's "Keyword Discovery" tool - and I actually canceled my subscription with them when I started with SEOmoz, thinking that there would be a keyword research tool that digs into historical and global data for keywords and gives all related keywords that you can then export into a CSV file.
I'm impressed with SEOmoz for sure and just surprised there isn't a keyword tool like this...unless I just haven't found it yet!

If you are a pro Moz member, you can utilize tools like the keyword difficulty tool to see where certain terms rank, etc. There is also SpyFu to do comparisons with similar sites, etc. (though I personally am less enamored of this than others).
But, if you are trying to save a few dimes and your competitors are not savvy you can use your SEOmoz toolbar to great benefit. Go to a competitive site and then click on the toolbar to display the page analysis. Then look at page elements (shows first). See what they have put in as keywords and pick and choose. (On your site, make sure your keywords are not showing when you do this). See if there are terms they are using you did not think of, etc.Take what you gather and go to Google's keyword tool, put them in, and see what is going on with each in order to refine your choices. Hope this helps.

Hello,
You could try using the Google keyword suggestion tool (https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer)
That would provide suggestions of keywords by;
- Analyzing a list of keywords, then suggesting relevant alternatives
- Scanning a website (yours or a competitors) and parsing relevant keywords

How is it possible to rank first for a keyword, when the keyword isn't written on the page?
I noticed that one of our competitors is ranking in first position for a keyword but when looking on the page grader. The exact keyword is not used on the page at all (or in title, URL etc.). How is this possible, when other sites have content with those exact words?

Two major pages ranking for the same keyword phrase
Hola all, So I'm having an issue where I have two important pages (homepage and page that lists products) that seemingly take turns ranking for an important keyword phrase. One day the homepage is in the top 20, one day the other, one day neither. And it's gone on like this for a couple of months. Both are optimized for keyword phrases that contain a shorter keyword phrase. So for example, let's say the homepage is optimized for: "Get paid to take polls" and the other page is optimized for "Earn cash for paid polls and more." Both contain: "paid polls." Is there cannibalization happening here? Should I completely remove "paid polls" from one keyword phrase? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Roman

Different or Same Keywords for Second Site
Hello, We're flushing out a second site for a client that's a second site in the same niche. How do I know when to use the same keywords for both sites and when to use entirely different keywords. One site is fairly strong, and the other will be less strong, though we're going to strengthen it quickly.

For seo purposes Looking to register a new double (keyword based) domain were popular domains are not available. Keyword difficulty rated for exact keyword is 49% For example, www.(name1)(name2).com (is not available) www.(name1)-(name2).com (is not available) (single space between keywords) What is the next best alternative? www.(name1)--(name2).com (Double space between keywords) www.(name2)(name1).com (reverse keywords with no spaces) www.(name1)s(name2)s.com (adding the letter s to the end of both keywords) or is there a better alternative)
