GA Tracking Code for Ecommerce cross-domain tracking
-
I need help.
Scenario:
-
Microsite: www.example.com
-
Prospect clickc "buy" button and is taken to 3rd party ecommerce cart (e.g. shop.domain.com)
Questions:
- Will the Google Analytics Code sample below allow us to track what we need? We need to exact syntax code for the micro site.
- What is the specific code that needs to be added on the 3rd party shopping cart pages.
-
-
That looks similar to a setup we implemented recently and it worked fine (eventually).
We did have an issue in the beginning though because the original GA module the site had installed was not using the asynchronous GA code, so it wasn't passing it correctly. The older GA script uses different code to track across domains so check that if you run into problems.
We found the older version tracked conversions/goals fine but not the ecommerce stats. As Erica said, you might want to check the cart help forums - they usually have very clear troubleshooting instructions because this is an issue that comes up often.

What shopping cart are you using? I know that pinnaclecart ( my favorite eCommerce platform ) has a out of box solution. Maybe I can perform a search for you?
-
Thanks Erica,
I wish it was this easy. It's not an off-the-shelf cart. Unfortunately, NDA's prevent from providing additional details but we are working with a Google Certified Analytic consultant - and we're making a little progress.
Thank you

Adding the tracking code should track whatever you need to be tracked.
Most 3rd party shopping carts provide information on how to implement the tracking code, and since GA is one of the most popular, they may even have any easier solution (like "copy & paste your unique GA id here" solution) than you needing to copy & paste the code in.

Tracking a Redirect
Recently a client of mine had a new site developed and had changed their domain, so the old URL is now redirecting to the new URL. They want to be able to track referral traffic in the analytics so we can decipher how much direct traffic is coming in from people typing in the old URL. Is this possible and if so, can I have a guide in doing so? Thanks!

URL String Tracking Question--Need help!
I am doing some research for a freelance project and found a URL receiving a decent amount of traffic from search with this url string after the normal page url (xxx.com/credit-card-counseling.aspx?match=e&query=debthelper.com&id=22097628847&id=1810807655) Is this some sort of GA tracking code? Why would it be used on that page to track organic search hits if that happens automatically? Would love some help figuring this out! Thanks,

Reported data in Multi-channel funnels in GA wrong?
I'd love to start using the Multi-channel funnels feature in Google Analytics but I have zero confidence in the reported data as it seems to bear no relationship to the standard ecomm reports. To be specific, in August 2013, MCF is reporting the following for email campaigns: Assisted conversions = 20
Reporting & Analytics | | Bluesnapper
Assisted conversion value = £1,405.91
Last Click or Direct Conversions = 14
Last Click or Direct Conversion Value = £369.57 Now switching to the traffic sources report, GA reports for the email campaigns revenue was £1,226,41 over the same period across 21 transactions. My interpretation of this is that the email campaigns were the "last-click" and delivered £1,226,41 and 21 "conversions" (as I have no goals configured in this GA view, conversions = transactions I believe) That leaves the MCF last-click report short by £856.84 (£1,226,41 - £369.57) I can see no reason why this should be so unless I'm not interpreting the data correctly! Anybody have any suggestions/ideas as to what's going on? Any help appreciated.0 -
Multiple-Domain tracking for sister sites- NO retail checkout- Please help
Hello, I have about 5 sites I want to set up multiple-domain tracking in google analytics. All posts I read seem to be focused on cross-domain tracking for the purpose of tracking a visitor from one domain across another domain for shopping cart check outs. I don't need that. I have about 3 sister sites (mastersite.com, sistersite1.com, sistersite2.com, sistersite3.com) related to my primary site. I want 1 Master Analytics Profile to track traffic for all of these sites combined. My visitors will not jump from mastersite.com over to sistersite1.com. There will be no cross-domain visits. How can I set up 1 master google analytics profile that will aggregate traffic data from all sites and present the data to me in one analytics profile. Please help

How do you track badges?
I have had some success these days with a couple of badges I have created. It wasn't too difficult for the efforts to result in a bunch of links as they where on topics people are very passionate about. My question is how do people usually keep track of what websites their badges end up on besides watching for analytics visits? There has to be an easier way to know who has used your badge on their website?
