12-pack Now a 6-pack?
-
Google just announced the new 12-pack site-links 2 weeks ago, and now it looks like they're testing some changes that restrict it to a 6-pack. Are others seeing this? Has anyone seen an official report (Google blogs or major search site)? Is this an homage to beer or abs?
-
I know, it seemed odd to me that after they had been up for a few weeks (and apparently for everyone, not just certain people's serp's) that he would say it was "still a test". He himself even said he thought Google was overdoing it a bit because of how much space it took up.
-
It's interesting, because they made such a big announcement about it, and it had been in testing prior to that. I think they may have had more backlash than expected - on many screens, the #1 spot was taking up most of the real estate.

Hey Pete
I'm seeing 6-pack also.
At the SEMNE (searche engine marketing new england) event the other night, Jordan Rost from Google did the presentation, and he said that as far as he knew the 12 pack has always just been a test, and he wouldn't be surprised if it went away or changed somehow.

Hi Peter,
right now I see only Six Pack both (see image for example) in google.com/.it/.es
But I swear I saw also a classic 1 sitelink yesterday, even though with the six pack format (no image, sorry)
-
I've got a six pack in real life.
Shame it's 2 litre (70oz) bottles. Fat fat.
Anyway, yeah, I only see 6 packs now too. Sites that had 12, 10 and 8 are all reduced to 6 when I search.
Fairly happy with that to be honest and it was too much real estate.
UK for reference.

Hi, I'm from South Africa, and we are seeing the 6 pack result on all branded search too.
-
I looked at the examples used in their blog post about the 12-pack sitelinks, and those examples are now only showing six results. With half a dozen queries on brand names, I couldn't find a single instance of a 12-pack result.

The "Fetch As Google" limit has been decreased - what now?
Since Google decreased the "Fetch As Google" limit to ten pages per day, we've been a bit stuck. We're publishing 20-30 content pages per day, targeting a huge range of search queries. Circa 40% of our traffic comes to us through these pages. Since we're now heavily restricted on submitting these to Google, who's got other ideas to get the pages picked up quickly? I'm slightly concerned because although the pages link outwards to other areas of the website, no other areas of the site link to these pages. They're purely top-of-the-funnel. We can't be the only people with this concern. How would you address it?

Grabbed up some branded domains now what
With the recent release of gtlds I was waiting to pick up a .clothing for a client. For some strange reason something came over me and I ended up buying 10 domains of brandname.clothing domains of well know brands. I'm no cybersquatter but just an aspiring SEO and sell these brand's clothing products online. As I learn more about the legal issues I'm wondering what to do .Do I cancel domains with godaddy? Will I be refunded? Do I contact rightful owner and offer them the domain at cost? Can I create a fan site of the products and sell advertising as I seen on many occasions? So confused what to do?

Now that Google is no longer publicly displaying Page Rank updates, how will this effect Moz's ability to calculate DA and PA?
Hi, How much more important do you guys think that Moz's Page Authority and Domain Authority metrics are going to become now that Google has stopped giving people public access to a site or pages Page Rank? And how accurate is PA and DA as a measurement in comparison to Page Rank..so for example if I was seeking a guestposting opportunity and saw a site as having a PR of 4....if I now looked to Moz's Page and Domain Authority metrics instead...would that still give me equivalent information on the strength of that domain and thus make a judgement on whether it will be a worthy site for a guestpost.. I guess what I am asking is, how close is now looking at Moz's metrics (ie. a third party company) to the info on PageRank that was being updated by Google themselves? Also will the lack of updated public PR info from Google effect the ability for Moz to calculate PA and DA?? Look forward to your replies on this,

What now?
Hi all What now for optimization projects. this is what I gathered so far with all the changes in the SEO world. No Stop guest blogging activity! no need to stress about directory submission. Yes - create great internal content that engage clients. this jmy problem. Great content OK and what can I do with it to get people engaged. Slogans are not action items. What engagement are beneficial to sites? like and +1 from within the site? sponsors posts on FB and how do they help website? We as agencies and consultant need action items and measurable activities. I like the changes however so far I do not know why or what? Many more Questions for later. Guy

My site was hit by the Penguin Update, Now What?
My site is very young, having only been up for about a month and a half. Despite being nascent we were seeing a ton of organic traffic. Enter Google Penguin update.... Traffic is down 40% or so over the past week. So, assuming the damage has been done, the question is, what do we do next to start moving back towards where we were? If we're doing everything everything right do we just chalk it up to the fact that our site is very new and stay the course on original content and link building? I know you can submit your site for reconsideration which is something that we are going to do this week, but I wonder what else we can do to start edging back to where we were pre-penguin update. Maybe this would be a good Whiteboard Friday topic.

Is Bing actually using Yahoo's search engine now?
All my Bing rankings are now the same as Yahoo's ranking were, but I expected the opposite. Meanwhile, my Yahoo rankings are exactly the same as they were last week.
