How to achieve product extensions in organic serps
-
I have noticed some interesting changes in how google are returning searches for specific branded products. In this case 'tom ford glasses' position 12 result has three product extensions (see image) This is similar to the product extensions which occasionally occur on adwords. Have you seen this happen and if so any ideas how it all works?

I don't think it's microformats.
For one of my client sites I have Schema.org implemented on Product Pages but not the Category pages.
One of the category pages ranks for a search and does show a list of products on the SERP
Another of the category pages ranks for a search and does not show a list of products in the SERP.
You can see for yourself here:
Without product list:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=espresso+cups&pws=0
(position 5, espressodeco.com)
With product list:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=espresso+cups+and+saucers&pws=0
(position 4)
It appears Google is just using a list of products from some sites on each SERP.

These are popping up all over the .AU Google domain aswell.
They appear to be pulling content from tables.
Maybe it has something to do with Microdata formatting?

Product photo links appear in search results
Since I'm new, I don't have any information. Product photo links appear in the search results. Is this a problem? because when you click on the link, it does not take you to a page, but to a blank page with only a photo. What should I do for this situation?

How can you promote a sub-domain ahead of a domain on the SERPs?
I have a new client that wants to promote their subdomain uk.imagemcs.com and have their main domain imagemcs.com fall off the SERPs. Objective? Get uk.imagemcs.com to rank first for UK 'brand' searches. Do a search for 'imagem creative services' and you should see the issue (it looks like rules have been applied to the robots.txt on the main domain to exclude any bots from crawling - but since they've been indexed previously I need to take action as it doesn't look great!). I think I can do this by applying a permanent redirect from the main domain to the subdomain at domain level and then no-indexing the site - and then resubmit the sitemap. My slight concern is that this no-indexing of the main domain may impact on the visibility of the subdomains (I'm dealing with uk.imagemcs.com, but there is us.imagemcs.com and de.imagemcs.com) and was looking for some assurance that this would not be the case. My understanding is that subdomains are completely distinct from domains and as such this action should have no impact on the subdomains. I asked the question on the Webmasters Forum but haven't really got anywhere

301 vs 500 Errors for discontinued products
I have a client that has a around 15 "products" (they are pages containing details of the products rather than e-Commerce products) that have been discontinued. The client has suggested 301s but unless the alternative products are replacement products am I correct that we should be using a 500 error?

Titles in google serps incorrect
If you do the following query in google: site:orlandovisiting.com legend sparrow You'll see in the results the title appears as: legend-captain-jack-sparrow-1149.html Where the title tag in the source is: <title>The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studiostitle> Eventually it normally rights itself, but does anyone else get this with their sites? Thanks.

Hosted in the Cloud, my URL is a .com how can I rank in UK SERPS?
Hi Mozzers, I have found an e-commerce SAS solution (USA based) that hosts its platform in the Cloud. Unfortunately my domain is a ,com but I wish to rank & sell within the UK. I realise I can select the UK parameters within GWT, but I am led to believe that this isnt hugely effective. Other than choosing another eCommerce platform, could anyone please assist me in identifying a solution? Thank you in advance.
