Facebook Promotion Help

I am considering doing a iPad give away to gain more Facebook page likes. I have several questions running through my brain that I'm hopeful fellow Mozzers can help me with. I was thinking I'll give away an iPad for every 500 FB likes on our page...or $1.00 per like.
- If I get an abundance of likes will Google smile upon me?
- How do I track the entries?
- Are there any tools that can assist in getting the word out on this and or tracking it all? I'm kind of a FB newb!

Thanks for the tips! I'll check out those policies to ensure I'm within the guidelines.

Sounds good - the more 'real' interactions on your Facebook wall the more Google will like it.
Competitions on Facebook can be tricky though as you dont want to break their terms and conditions, I am not sure if you actually ask people to write something on your wall in order to enter the competition.
North Social have all the details and links to Facebook Competition policies.
Goodluck though.

Great answer! Thanks for the advice. How about this as a revised plan.
-Use North Social to give away 1 iPad/month to entreprenuers/businesses
-Advertise the promotion on my site (get 40K visits/month) and directly on Facebook.
-Make an entry requirement to post on our wall how the iPad will help them in business.
Will I get a positive look from Google with this plan or do I need to change the implementation of the last step somewhow?

Hi, We've had experience with a number of Facebook promotions.
- Quick answer is no. Fanpage likes can easily be bought/fabricated, the raw numbers dont really matter that much. But you are building a valuable community around your brand which can help drive traffic back to your site or a fan page member might 'like' or 'comment' on a post that you make on the wall. Building up your brand, gaining Facebook shares or comments will get Google to smile upon you!
- The 'sweepstakes' app of http://northsocial.com/ is exactly what you need. You have to pay a small monthly fee for the full North Social suite... but it's definitely worth it.
- The 'sweepstake' app with North Social enables users to 'like' the page before they enter - this in turn, will appear on their facebook wall and hopefully stir up some interest from their users. You can also ask users to share the promotion directly. Finally, Facebook Advertising might work well for a cool prize like an iPad.
The biggest advice is to just give it a shot!

Number of Facebook likes and shares for a webpage went significantly down.
I noticed that a bunch of "likes" and "shares" had gone down for a webpage I do marketing for, and I wanted to see if anyone had also experienced this. About two years ago, I realized that when I would send a FB message with a link to a webpage I was promoting, the number of shares and likes for the page would go up by one. So, thinking that I had stumbled onto something incredible, I proceeded to message over 500 people on facebook with a link to the webpage. Soon enough, I had increased the likes and shares displayed on the webpage to 635 (as shown in the Digg Digg plugin). Today, I went back to the same page and realized the number of shares and likes had gone down to 160. Has anyone experienced a drop in the number of shares and likes, and has anyone increased their likes and shares by sending a message with a link to a webpage being marketed? (You can test this out by messaging someone in facebook with a single link to webpage that displays the number of facebook "likes" and "shares" -Once you send the message the number should go up by one) Thanks

Facebooking and Liking - Whis is best SEO practice for Rankings
Hi everyone! , i am a rookie with SEO. I have a very specific question for which i would love to hear your opinions on this. I have a facebook fan page about my company. We try to post quality stuff in regard to the industry we are in. However, we are social people, and i have seen improvements whenever we post more "social" topics such as TGIF, Photos, DIY themes. My question is (Actually two questions) : Is there a direct correlation or metric between rankings and "likes", the size of your facebook community ? If so, which has more power or effect on rankings. Facebook Likes generated from your website , or General Likes of posts within your existing community. Hope to hear from ya! Every advice is good advice. Regards Jesus D Aceromart

Facebook interactions report on SEOMoz - help!
Our Fan Interactions report for the last 7 days is showing 10475 more interactions than the previous week. These didn't happen on our page and if we'd been tagged wouldn't it show up on our page? We had the usual number of Likes and Comments last week, nothing unusual there and 3 mentions, none of which triggered this level of activity. Can anyone shed any light? If we did get tagged, why wouldn't we know about it? Thanks Cecily

Constantly randomly rejected Facebook ads, how to solve this?
Im pulling my hairs out literally, Facebook has been constantly rejecting my ads, throwing away All the work it took the campaigns to set them up. This is getting frustrating since I allways get the same "image" reason. What bothers me is the themes are similar to previously approved ads and I for one cannot find a reason on their lists for the rejection. So I was thinking of just resending the same ads with a higher bid, to test if they approved them or not, but don't know how this will work. Is there a way to contact them to actually tell you what they think was wrong? Is there a chance to file a complaint for the rejection of the same ad with different targeting just on different dates? Im really really stressed out since ive lost 10hours of work dealing with this constant rejection nonsense.

Facebook Comments For Engines
I incorporated Facebook comments on my site and am now working on displaying it for Google to see. I did so successfully using the FB comment display php script (See: http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/490) on the page below, but it is displaying in the browser as well. What is the best preactice to hide this from the human visitors? Here is an example page of the comments and the output of the PHP script that needs to be hidden from human visitors: http://www.jwsuretybonds.com/info/videos/l1-what-are-surety-bonds.htm
