Frustration With Google Places

I have been trying to solve this problem with Google Places for quite some time now and just can't figure out where to go from here. I've tried several sent messages explaining the problem and even received several phone calls from Google Places trying to correct the issue with no luck. I have even tried totally deleting the listing and started over from scratch and re-verified the address with a mailed postcard.

For some reason when you do a Google search for one of my keywords

On the listings normally under the letter "E" on the Map another website has a placemark at my location

I see it is using my images, videos, placemark on map but NOT the address, phone number, or reviews.
Any help on this issue would greatly be appreciated

Thanks Robert. Very helpful. I actually started doing that just before I read this so I hope that means I'm thinking in the right direction. I just decided to go ahead and delete my listings for the time being ... I didn't have any reviews that will be really lost so I'll just start from scratch once I see his listing disappear.

Hope this helps. We occasionally run into an issue where someone who is unscrupulous creates a business listing in Places around a client business name. What we do is have several people put in a permanently closed notice with Google (since we have a couple of locations that are 500 miles apart it helps I think). Click on edit this place and mark Miami Fishing Charters as permanently closed. On comments put "this business has no physical location here any longer if it ever did" or words to that effect.
Utilizing this methodology we have had them removed. It does take a while at times though. I do think someone marked them closed, etc. in the last few minutes......

I would try what Kieran Daily suggest below... call them. It looks like they somehow list your address as their own. Maybe as an alt address. I think the other company is trying to claim your address. I put in a complaint email on the other page to tell Google the info is wrong... however you know how responsive they can be.
Do you do any paid advertising with Google? If so... ask your account rep to look into it.

Yes I have contacted this site admin. In reality it's not even a real business and doesn't have a physical location. The telephone number is just a "Google Voice" number with no answer. When I contacted the site email he did get back to me and stated he himself didn't know what was going on with the confusion

Have you rung this business? Ask them where they are located. In theory there is nothing stopping someone from using your information for a location and they may have verified using and SMS and not the postcard.
Try the old fashioned way first.

Yea tell me about it. I've been going nuts over this for too long. Not to mention when I received these phone calls from Google it's always the same "Overseas person" that barely speaks English reading off of a sheet... and when I try to explain the problem they have no clue what is going on.

I think I got it now... again sorry for my first response... clearly I was confused.
Something is strange... I am seeing the information between the 2 sites getting messed up.
I have never seen that before. This is probably beyond my skill level but I will see what I can find out about it.

25150 SW 147 AVE not the one they have listed for the other business 2550 South Bayshore Drive
They have the placemark pinned at my address along with my website listed below along with the other stuff I mentioned.
After doing a bit of research on Site Explorer the confused website "fishing-charters-miami.com" is such poor quality compared to my domain I can't understand why it would even get this spot

That is weird. I do see the address and phone number... but your map marker is clearly not at the right address. It looks like there are a lot of businesses at 2550 South Bayshore Drive, Miami. When I do a map search for this address it says "multiple businesses" at this address but yours it not listed.
The only idea I have is to add a suite number if you have one. I noticed some of the businesses at the address say "2550 South Bayshore Drive #301, Miami". It is a shot in the dark but is currently the only idea I have.

Google not using meta desription
I have seen several posts as to why google may not be using the meta description. The most common reason is that they found other text on the page that is more relevant. While I have seen this to be the case on some, most of the time it is not. Is there any way to alert the google bot that it is taking wrong info that would not be good to the user?

Recovering from a Google penalty
Hi there, So about 3.5 weeks ago I noticed my website (www.authenticstyle.co.uk) had gone from ranking in second place for our main key phrase "web design dorset" to totally dropping off the SERP's for that particular search phrase - it's literally no where to be seen. It seems that other pages of my website still rank, but the homepage. I then noticed that I had an unread alert in my Google Search Console account to say that a staging site we were hosting on a subdomain (the subdomain was domvs.authenticstyle.co.uk) had hacked content - it was a couple of PDF files with weird file names. The strange thing is we'd taken this staging site down a few weeks earlier, BUT one of my staff had left an A record set up in our Cloudflare account pointing to that staging server - they'd forgotten to remove it when removing the staging site. I then removed the A record, myself and submitted a reconsideration request on Google Search Console (which I still haven't received confirmation of) in the hope of everything sorting itself out. Since then I've also grabbed a Moz Pro account to try and dig a little deeper, but without any success. We have a few warnings for old 404's, some missing meta descs on some pages, and some backlinks that have accumulated over time that have hghish spam rating, but nothing major - nothing that would warrant a penalty as far as I can tell. From what I can make out, we've been issued a penalty on our homepage only, but I don't understand why we would get penalised for hacked content if that site domvs.authenticstyle.co.uk no longer existed (would it just be due to that erroneous A record we forgot to remove?). I contacted a few freelance SEO experts and one came back to me saying I'd done everything correctly and that I should see our site appearing again in a few days after submitting the reconsideration request. Its been 3 weeks and nothing. I'm at a huge loss as to how my site can recover from this. What would you recommend? I even tried getting our homepage to rank for a variation of "web design dorset", but it seems our homepage has been penalised for anything with "dorset" in the keyphrase. Google Does not find Internal links
Hi guys I involved in difficult situation. in google webmaster tools -> internal links some important pages doesn't have any links from all pages. for example home page just have 9000 internal inks but there are 29000 indexed pages by google and some not important pages have 27000 internal links.(more than home page) Site made by angular v1 Is there anyone can help me why google could not find all internal links?

Why is Google not indexing my site?
I'm a bit confused as to why my site just isn't indexing on Google. Even if I type in my brand name, my social channels rank and there's no evidence of my website. I've followed all of the advice I've read and gone into webmaster tools and got the Wordpress yoast plug-in but nothing seems to be making a difference!One thing I've noticed, in Google Webmaster Tools it says "Couldn’t communicate with the DNS server." in site errors. I've called GoDaddy and they said that everything is fine. A bit frustrating. Trying to work out what my next steps should be but feeling a bit lost to be honest! Any help GREATLY appreciated!

No google traffic for this site? Help?
Hi We have not done this web site http://climateacs.co.uk but have now picked it up and its getting no traffic what so ever from google do you think its been blacklisted? I have added it to my webmaster tools and there are no manual actions on it and most of the backlinks on google webmaster tools are from yell.com. However when I run it on opensiteexplorer I am seeing some chinese type links?? It is not really showing many search queries at all when you view them in webmaster tools under United Kingdom. I was going to start citation building for the address to help support the google places entry but just wanted to see what other peoples opinion was really on this site? Thanks Tracy

Google Links
I am assuming that the list presented by Google Webmaster tools (TRAFFIC | Links To Your Site) is the one that will actually be used by Google for indexing ? There seem to be quite a few links that there that should not be there. ie Assumed NOFOLLOW links. Am I working under an incorrect assumption that all links in webmaster tools are actually followed ?
