Warnings on Pages excluded from Search Engines
-
I am new to this, so my question may seem a little rookie type...
When looking at my crawl diagnostic errors there are 1604 warnings for "302 redirects". Of those 1604 warnings 1500 of them are for the same page with different product ID's on them such as: www.soccerstop.com/EMailproduct.aspx?productid=999
www.soccerstop.com/EMailproduct.aspx?productid=998In our robots.txt file we have Disallow: /emailproduct.aspx
Wouldn't that take care of this problem? If so, why is it still giving me these warning errors? It does take into account our robots.txt file when generating this report does it not?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Nigel,
As I understand it, the warnings in the crawl report are simply intended to alert you to things that you may not otherwise be aware of on the site. Basically, it is telling you that Roger encountered a 302 (temporary) redirect when trying to access those URL's.
If your robots.txt is functioning the way you intended, then you should see this in the "blocked by robots.txt" section of the Crawl Notices. If this is not the case, then it would indicate that perhaps your robots.txt is not correctly configured.
If you want to know exactly how Rogerbot interacts with the files on your site when crawling, you could email the help team help [at] seomoz.org and ask.
There is a very good post from Lindsay on Robot access in the SEOmoz Blog which is definitely worth a read.
Hope that helps,

Try this to block pages with parameters
Disallow: /emailproduct.aspx?*
You can also add a robots nofollow, noindex on the EMailproduct.aspx page if you are trying to block it
You can do parameter handling in Google Webmaster Tools > site configutation > URL Parameters as well to tell Google how to deal with the parameters.
Also, you should always do 301 directs, not 302. Good luck.

Google Search Console Showing 404 errors for product pages not in sitemap?
We have some products with url changes over the past several months. Google is showing these as having 404 errors even though they are not in sitemap (sitemap shows the correct NEW url). Is this expected? Will these errors eventually go away/stop being monitored by Google?

Why Dropping pages from SERPS?
Our website for my olansi company in London, China has hundreds of pages dedicated to every service we provide to China local areas. The total number of pages is approximately 100. Google caters pretty well for long-tail searches when it indexes all these pages, so we usually get a fair amount of traffic when this happens. However, Google occasionally drops most of our indexed pages from search engine results for a few days or weeks at a time - for example, Google is currently indexing 60 pages while last week it was back at 100. Can you tell me why this happens? When these pages don't display, we lose a lot of organic traffic. What are we doing wrong? Site url:https://www.olanside.com

Use Internal Search pages as Landing Pages?
Hi all Just a general discussion question about Internal Search pages and using them for SEO. I've been looking to "noindexing / follow" them, but a lot of the Search pages are actually driving significant traffic & revenue. I've over 9,000 search pages indexed that I was going to remove, but after reading this article (https://www.oncrawl.com/technical-seo/seo-internal-search-results/) I was wondering if any of you guys have had success using these pages for SEO, like with using auto-generated content. Or any success stories about using the "noindexing / follow"" too. Thanks!

Should i Disavow links from Secret Search Engine Labs
Hi, I'm doing a link audit. My sites' keyword rankings and organic traffic have been sent to the Phantom Zone since the last Penguin Update. I've got 70+ and counting follow backlinks to my main domain and one of the my subdomains from http://www.secretsearchenginelabs.com/; should i disavow them? There's a load of links to many recognisable sites in there and my instinct's all out of whack with this decision. I think that these links were all manually added by a link building company on our behalf. It does look manipulated to me but i'd like a second opinion before I dump all of those links. Thanks Thanks

Translating Page Titles & Page Descriptions
I am working on a site that will be published in the original English, with localized versions in French, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. All the versions will use the English information architecture. As part of the process, we will be translating the page the titles and page descriptions. Translation quality will be outstanding. The client is a translation company. Each version will get at least four pairs of eyes including expert translators, editors, QA experts and proofreaders. My question is what special SEO instructions should be issued to translators re: the page titles and page descriptions. (We have to presume the translators know nothing about SEO.) I was thinking of: stick to the character counts for titles and descriptions make sure the title and description work together avoid over repetition of keywords page titles (over-optimization peril) think of the descriptions as marketing copy try to repeat some title phrases in the description (to get the bolding and promote click though) That's the micro stuff. The macro stuff: We haven't done extensive keyword research for the other languages. Most of the clients are in the US. The other language versions are more a demo of translation ability than looking for clients elsewhere. Are we missing something big here?

Search/Search Results Page & Duplicate Content
If you have a page whose only purpose is to allow searches and the search results can be generated by any keyword entered, should all those search result urls be no index or rel canonical? Thanks.

Should I really worry about warnings¿?
I have about 300 errors about duplication of content. But I also have like 3000 warnings for: 2500, too many links on page 2000, meta title longer than 66 characters 200, too long url. I have analyzed my competition, and 90% of them have also too many links on pages and long meta titles. Are these 2 really factors to improve my google ranking? My site is: theprinterdepo.com and my main keywords are printers, refurbished printers, laser printers
