Google keyword tool [exact match]
-
Hey there,
I'm trying to work out what my next big course to run will be. I want to know if my technique is a good gauge of popularity.
I'm using Google's keyword tool specifically for New Zealand. I'm typing in a course topic e.g Photoshop Courses and looking at the exact match results to see if there might be a market for that course. Broad match seems to offer up a lot more numbers but seem a bit vague.
Am i right to think 'After Effects Training' wouldn't be a popular course as it returns a (<10) local monthly result while 'Photoshop Courses' might be ok as it has a (46)?
**I'd appreciate any insight. **

You are correct in using a more specific match type other than broad. At an exact match level, your time would be best spent on the After Effects term.
However, with something like "Photoshop Courses" i could see a lot of phrase match type of variants, like "free photoshop courses" "photoshop courses online" and a whole myraid of those type of terms that would be relevant to target for you. So maybe take it up to a phrase match level and make a decision based on that.

Does Google consider very similar keyphrases the same?
One of my top keyphrases is manchester magician and using Google Adwords Keyword Tool this produces exactly the same number of views as _magician manchester _and again the exact same for magician in manchester. So I assumed from this that Google views them the same. But looking at the SEOMoz On-Page tool, this doesn't appear to be the case as my grade is different for each keyphrase. So, I guess my question is, if this is the case and they are considered different, how would I find out which one really is the most searched for so I can optimize accordingly. Many thanks, Iain.

Keyword Analysis Tool
Can someone please enlighten me on the Keyword Analysis tool Matrix. Does Domain Linking refer to the number of links back to that domain as a whole? Also why is it that a page with a lower page ranking can be way ahead of one with a domain ranking that is way higher or vice-a -versa? What is a good number to go after? what is actually attainable? Thanks

Newbie has various questions about keywords
Hi All - Im just learning, would appreciate some clarification on how keywords work. Specifically: For a phrase keyword, does order matter? E.g. is 'Bridging loans UK' the same keyword as 'UK bridging loans'? Again in a phrase, do the keywords need to be adjacent? So if I had a an H1 tag on my page which was 'We provide Briding loans for the entire UK', would this be considered a match for the keyword phrase 'Bridging loans uk' ? As I understand it, optimising your site for a certain keyword involves 2 things at a basic level:a) Including that keyword on your site, and b) Getting relevant inbound links from other sites with that keyword as the anchor text. Is this correct? Are there other large scale factors? What is the balance between those 2 (or more) main factors? Which is most important?

Tittle + keywords = ?
Hi everyone so it's time for a refresh. I want to improve my rank for couple of terms on one page, so whats you recommend me. Currently I am thinking to go with option 1 and be as much specific to my main keyword, but at the same time I am not sure if I'll be able to link well for my 2nd keywords. Option 1 Term 1, Term 2, Term 3 - they are more or less related Tittle: Term 1 and Term 2 and Term 3 Keywords: term 1, term 2, term 3 Meta description: Term 1, la lalal mama term 2, ta da da lalaaas term 3 or Option 2 Tittle: Term 1 Keywords: term 1, term 2, term 3 Meta description: Term 1, la lalal mama term 2, ta da da lalaaas term 3

Is this keyword cannibalization?
Hi, Is using keywords in different orders considered keyword cannibalization? for example, if I my client has a catering business based in mississauga, Ontario, should I create separate 2nd tier pages on the following keywords? 1. mississauga catering 2. catering mississauga 3. catering in mississauga Is that keyword cannibalization? The reason I ask is because it's often hard to find a good # of diverse keywords for local businesses that are also used more than a few times each month in the search engines. thanks, Martin
