Too many links on page has a state directory how do i lessen this?
-
I dont mean how do i take away links on the page but i know right off i am going to have at least 50 right off the bat and with my footer and menu bar and such im up over the limit of 100.
My seo guy took care of it on my one site and dont know how
Site with issue is www.Preexistingconditioninsuranceplan.com/pcip-states
one that was fixed that doesnt appear to be too many on seomoz was http://criticalillnesspolicies.com/insurance-coverage/united-states/
if anyone can inform or decypher the code please let me know
-
Thanks much. Im not certain why but will have to delve a little deeper since the dmoz tool states 140 something links on page.
It used to say that with my other site but my seo guy at that time said he fixed that and seemed true enough.
Thanks for response

Hi Lance.
I am unclear as to exactly what you are asking, so I will share some link-related information.
First, the 100 links per page is a general guide, not a hard rule. You will find some very successful sites are able to support hundreds of links, such as the new york times site, nyt.com. With that understood, it would be best to keep your links down to a minimal number, and for your site I would adhere to the 100 link guideline.
I looked at: www.Preexistingconditioninsuranceplan.com/pcip-states. The first suggestion I would make is to remove the footer links. They mostly duplicate the links in your navigation, and footer links are rarely used by your site visitors. Instead try replacing the links with a simple "Top of Page" type of link.
The main visible links on your home page are broken down as follows:
50 state links (you may wish to include Washington DC, Puerto Rico and similar US areas)
9 links on main navigation bar
5 links on secondary navigation bar
3 links in Quick Link sidebar
1 logo link
8 social icon links
1 footer link to web developer
Total of 77 visible links. Even if you include the 14 extra footer links that brings your total to 91. I would normally confirm the number using the MOZbar, but it isn't working at the moment for some reason.

How many keywords should I optimize a page for?
Hi, There is a lot of debate going on on whether to use a single keyword per page or multiple keywords per page. What I know for sure is that it is not advisable to repeat the same exact keyword in different pages. I need to optimize product pages, categories and pages for an online store and still do not know if it is better to: 1-work with one main keyword per page plus latent semantic keywords, 2-to optimize a page for multiple different keywords (2 to 4 keywords) which are strongly related to the main topic or to the product sold in a particular product page 3- use single keyword for each page (and no more than one keyword per page). Some seo gurus argue this is the best way to get higher ranking for that particular page in the serps. My personal opinion would be 1 or 2, but I would like to hear what you suggest and think about it. Any suggestion or opinion is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance

Not sure if I need to be concerned with duplicate content plus too many links
Someone else supports this site in terms of making changes so I want to make sure that I know what I am talking about before I speak to them about changes. We seem to have a lot of duplicate content and duplicate titles. This is an example http://www.commonwealthcontractors.com/tag/big-data-scientists/ of a duplicate. Do I need to get things changed? The other problem that crops up on reports is too many on page links. I am going to get shot of the block of tags but need to keep the news. Is there much else I can do? Many thanks.

Why do I suddenly have so many more page errors?
I've been working diligently to remove page errors that appear after each scan of my website. I was down to 3 or 4 errors after the last crawl, now this week I'm getting 80 plus. I haven't changed anything since last week (page titles, etc.) so what's up?

Internal Linking
Okay, if I write 10 different articles on my site that are related to one of my products. Can I safely have a link in every article to my product?

Tag clouds: good for internal linking and increase of keyword relevant pages?
As Matt Cutts explained, tag clouds are OK if you're not engaged in keyword stuffing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYPX_ZmhLqg) - i.e. if you're not putting in 500 tags. I'm currently creating tags for an online-bookseller; just like Amazon this e-commerce-site has potentially a couple of million books. Tag clouds will be added to each book detail page in order to enrich each of these pages with relevant keywords both for search engines and users (get a quick overview over the main topics of the book; navigate the site and find other books associated with each tag). Each of these book-specific tag clouds will hold up to 50 tags max, typically rather in the range of up to 10-20. From an SEO perspective, my question is twofold: 1. Does the site benefit from these tag clouds by improving the internal linking structure? 2. Does the site benefit from creating lots of additional tag-specific-pages (up to 200k different tags) or can these pages become a problem, as they don't contain a lot of rich content as such but rather lists of books associated with each tag? Thanks in advance!

Where does link juice flow on a cloaked link?
Hello, I use a wordpress plug in that allows me to display tot he user any link I want from my domain, so it might be like: www.domain.com/gift-card, but the actual link is www.someaffiliatelink/w09fjai;owfoienw <--- and then a bunch of crap after the domain for the affiliate link. It uses the common technique of an iframe to hide the actual url from the user and show the one that I want them to see. What I am wondering is, does link juice in this case flow to my site, or to their site? And also, do you have any comments regarding this type of link cloaking? Thanks. Thanks
