As an agency, what is the best way to handle being the webmaster and hosting provider for several sites (some of which are in the same industry and have natural links to each other)?

We are an agency that builds and hosts websites for several companies (some of which happen to be in the same industry - and therefore naturally link to each other - we do not dictate). In regards to handling their domain registrations, webmaster tools account, google analytics account, and servers, what is the best practice to avoid Google thinking that these companies are affilliated? Even though they aren't affiliated, we are afraid that us being the "webmaster" of these sites and having shared servers for them that we may be affecting them.

I think there may actually be two issues here: One with regard to the sites all linking and one with regard to GA accounts. After Keri's answer (thanks Keri), I did a little research regarding what is the best practice. (Somewhere, sometime, I learned you set all up in a master and then move forward....). Appears I was wrong.....
Almost anyone within SEO, SEM, etc. I could find with a blog or other venue stated that the best practice was to set each client up with their own analytics account since it allows portability. With regard to Adwords accounts, that should be set up in advance in a contract: Marketing Co or Customer will possess AdWords account on termination of services. For us, if client is to retain, I require a cc on file that is used to pay all invoices as they occur.

There are sites out there that will show you which sites share the same Google Analytics code, http://spyonweb.com/ is one. Google knows, trust me, as I've had them shut off adwords for multiple clients when one client refused about $36 in charges (five years ago, no MMC, but all in same GWT account).
I don't have an educated opinion on the impact of ranking that this may or may not cause, and will defer to others about that.
I personally create separate Google Analytics Accounts for each client, with only their profiles in that same account. It's less about Google knowing all and more about being able to hand off the GA account to another business and give them admin access without handing over the rest of my clients.

We are an SEO, SEM, WebDev, etc. firm. We handle several verticals with clients who do not directly compete. Frankly, we don't like having those who do (unless in a different region or highly niched). With the web dev we are webmaster, host, and etc. Typically, we won't take on a client unless we are the ones handling the hosting as we have had too many times when we were blocked or stalled by Danny the Developer and it is not worth the pain. (That is why we got into dev).
Most of our clients have multiple sites and we do cross link carefully where it is logical. By virtue of this, we actually have sites that are hosted on various site hosts nationwide (GoDaddy, BlueHost, Network Solutions, etc. etc. etc.). We develop a matrix around the sites and groups that will link and then insure we are not pulling the IP or C blocks in a way that shows all sites on same. Furthermore, we utilize the matrix in a way that If there are say 4 groups with 10 sites each, Group A can only link to Group B or C and Group B only to C or D. D can link to A, etc. - I am not endeavoring to fill in the entire picture, but believe you can figure it out.
Early on, we were link monkeys going everywhere, connecting everything. Could not figure out what the issue(s) were. When we learned from some mozzers about the IP and C block issues, it changed our clients outcomes. I suggest that anyone that is "cross pollinating" multiple sources set up your sites in a fashion that keeps the IP and C blocks from showing up as all from the same.

I have a lot of sites on only a few ip numbers, i have them all on the same Bing and
Google accounts as i host and build websites. I also have a lot of linking
between them. I have recently had a site drop in ranking, but i doubt it is
because of this, as others that have not dropped have more same ip links.
DiscountASP one of the biggest hosters has almost all sites on one IP number. I
think the concern is overblown.I would just make sure that same ip links do not make up the majority of your links.
Bing or Google understand that people are in my and your position, where you are a
webmaster for many sites and host them on a few ip numbers, it is natural.what is not natural is to a link farm

I'm curious to see what answers you get as I'm somewhat in the same boat. I do have multiple clients hosted with the same hosts, but there's not much cross over in industries. I do, however always set up completely individual GWT, analytics etc just because of a hunch that Google may consider two sides sharing an account somewhat connected. Whether anyone has any proof is another thing..

Main Site and eCommerce Site URLs for SEO
My client currently has a main website on a url and an eCommerce site on a subdomain. The eCommerce site is currently not mobile friendly, has images that are too small and are problematic - and I believe it negates some of the SEO work we do for them. I had to turn off Google Shopping ads because the quality score was so low. That being said, they are rebuilding a shopping cart on a new platform that will be mobile friendly BUT the images are going to be tiny until they slowly replace images over several months. Would you keep the shopping cart on a subdomain, or make it part of the main website URL? Can it negatively impact the progress we have made on the main site SEO.

Links in Webmaster Tools that aren't really linking to us
I've noticed that there is a domain in WMT that Google says is linking to our domain from 173 different pages, but it actually isn't linking to us at all on ANY of those pages. The site is a business directory that seems to be automatically scraping business listings and adding them to hundreds of different categories. Low quality crap that I've disavowed just in case. I have hand checked a bunch of the pages that WMT is reporting with links to us by viewing source, but there's no links to us. I've also used crawlers to check for links, but they turn up nothing. The pages do, however, mention our brand name. I find this very odd that Google would report links to our site when there isn't actually links to our site. Has anyone else ever noticed something like this?

Walking into a site I didn't build, easy way to fix this # indexing problem?
I recently joined a team with a site without a) Great content b) Not much of any search traffic I looked and all their url's are built in this way: Normal looking link -> not actually a new page but # like: /#content-title And it has no h1 tag. Page doesn't refresh. My initial thought is to gut the site and build it in wordpress, but first have to ask, is there a way to make a site with /#/ content loading friendly to search engines?

Best way to handle with a Multiple Langue Issue
Howdy everyone! I am having trouble with deciding on how to solve a Multiple Language Issue. I went to several consultants here in Mexico, but i am not totally convinced on their solution. So i am hoping to hear excellent advice (as always) here on the SEOMOZ Forum. I have a website, (www.aceromart.com) an ecommerce site in which to sell materials for the construction industry. My main market is in Mexico, therefore the website is in Spanish. However, the export sales are increasing and some of the suppliers are from USA. I need to include the English version on my website, however i dont know how to do this. The option that they propose is to create an entirely different website with another domain. Entirely in English that links to my existing website. I did not like this at all. Mainly because i would not like to change the brand name or anything. I would like to include the English version within my website. Is it okay, if treat it as a folder withing my website. I.E www.aceromart.com/english/content? What is the best way to do this according to your experience. Best Regards, thanks for your help.

What is the most effective way to migrate an ecommerce site?
I am about migrate a 1500 product ecommerce site from Netsuite to Volusion. The url structure is not going to be the same so I need to know the most effective way of redirecting the old urls to the new site. Is there an easier method than collecting the most popular pages and creating a 301 xml page and upload it once the site goes live?

Adding no follow links on my site
I am getting a warning about having too many links on my page www.accessoriesonline.co.uk (152) but I don't want to remove any links from the site. Its an ecommerce site with categories across the top, featured products and then a further category navigation in the footer. Would it be beneficial if I added a rel="nofollow" to the links in the footer as these are duplicates of the one's in the header or would this harm the links in the header and the destination URL's which I definitely want to be crawled? Also, does anyone know if SEOMOZ considers links with a rel=nofollow as an actually link when they calculate their overview? Thanks in advance

Do DoubleClick DART Tags degrade link juice to your site?
My site has a content distribution agreement with Yahoo Finance for the daily articles we publish. It's delivered to them via XML, and while we don't have in-line links within the article, we do have 1. Clickable Logo image 2. Standard language at the end of the article with a link back to our registration page We use DART clicktags (http://ad.....) that redirects to our homepage combined with ?src=YahooFinance&affiliateId=77 query strings that are generated by these clicks to measure registration and sources My question is twofold. 1. Are the doublclick clicktags hurting the valuable linkbacks from Yahoo Finance for picking up our content 2. What should be done with the query string extentions once people land. We still want to see that data in our Google Analytics, so is a rel=canonical the appropriate solution?
