Links and keywords

A rather simple question, If i have a paragraph and have the words cat, dog and bird would it be a good idea to have them all linking to the same url? or is better to have them all going to different urls?
-
There has been quite a bit of experimentation which indicates that the "First link counts rule" does not hold in certain situations.
This Youmoz post gives a good explanation - Exceptions to the First Link Counts Rule
Hope that helps,

Hestates "If i have a paragraph and have the words cat, dog and bird". This means it's coming from the same URL. example.com/source-page. I'm not stating Google won't follow the links, I am saying that link #2 and link #3 won't weigh b/c link #1 comes 1st in the source code. Rand wrote about this long ago, but I don't want to spend 10 minutes looking for proof.
Are you referring to using Hash Tags on Twitter? Are you referring to # as in my FAQ page when you hover over a question? If so, I never see them in SERPs.
I doubt Atul is trying to accomplish the hash tag thing.
-
do you have any evidence to that effect? I am doubting that. Google should follow all three links and should show the anchor texts on your site in GMT as well.
It is quite possible that an about us page has 5 links to the same page with different peoples names as anchor texts (using hash tag to point to the proper section in the page) why would Google not be interested in gathering that information about what exactly the page is about.

Thanks a lot.
-
In this case, example.com would get credit for "cat", but not for "dog" nor "bird".
-
Thanks for technical answer.
So, the anchor text "cat" will have value, as far as ranking for destination URL is concerned.
-
Yes, here is my technical answer:
[Dog](www.example.com>Cat</a> (1st link)</p>
<p><a href=) (2nd link) -
"Only the 1st URL will count"
Do you mean only the first link will count ?
Will Google follow other links ?
-
Only the 1st URL will count. So if you link to example.com using anchor text "cat", then dog and bird won't matter.

How can a slight brochureware website with little content or keywords be getting DA 96, PA 59 and linking domains of 50.5million?
How can a Facebook page get domain authority of 96, page authority of 59 and have 50million linking domains? I come across websites that feature crappy video clips in serp features in google searches, the website.

It's surely black hat tactics. How do they get away with this? The website has zero content beyond light brochureware.

Paid Link Backs?
I know I have read that Google doesn't give much value to paid link backs. My company has worked with a charitable organization (marine research and conservation) in the past and we were considering a corporate donation to them. My question is, would there be value in this from an SEO standpoint? There are many many other company links listed on this page. The area we would be listed would be towards the top of the page. Also, they have a really good DA, 71. I don't believe I have many if any .org / charitable organizations in my link profile. Thanks!

Wierd link
We have recently receive linek from one website. The site is quite very powerful for the word we try to rank, however the link is kind of wired. This is how it looks like: http://villasdiani.com/?db The webmaster of the site said that he ads (?db) on the end so as we would see on our analytics the traffic from his site.. Also the link is from footer...is this good or it does not have value

Back Links
Hi there, I have been guest posting on blogs trying to build some back-links into my website, which so far is going not too bad, however I was wondering when writing these guest posts should I limit my post to let's say 2 back-links per guest post? If 2 back-links are going to different pages on my website, does the first back-links in the guest post have more value than the 2nd back-link? Kind Regards,

Panda Update: Isn't a link still a link?
I was doing some link building and some SEO's said that the Panda update affected many websites. I am going to use eZineArticles.com as my example. EzineArticles was affected by the Panda update and does not show up in the SERPs as much as before. But they still have doFollow Links coming from the articles I am submitting. QUESTION: Regardless if EzineArticles was affected by the Panda Update, isn't a "Follow Link" still a "Follow Link" OR am I completely wasting my time on this devalued website? Edit: Yes I know a PR 0 page is not as valuable as a PR 9 page. I am asking from the standpoint of the affected Panda Update domains overall.
