Can overly dynamic URLs be overcome with canonical meta tags?

I tried searching for questions regarding dynamic URLs and canonical tags, but I couldn't find anything s hopefully this hasn't been covered.
There are a large number of overly dynamic URLs reported in our site crawl (>7,000). I haven't looked at each of these, but most of these either have a canonical meta tag or have are indicated as FOLLOW, NO INDEX pages. Will these be enough to overcome any negative SEO impact that may come from overly dynamic URLs?
We are down to almost 0 critical errors and this is now the biggest problem reported by the site crawl after too many on page links.

It looks like the warnings continue to show in the crawl analysis. I'll just have to filter them out after exporting the CSV file. If anyone has another solution, let me know!

Will this continue to show as a "warning" in the SEOmoz Site Crawl even if it has the NOINDEX and Canonical tags?

Can anyone give their thoughts on this? Will the FOLLOW, NOINDEX and Canonical tags be enough to overcome the negative SEO impact of having 7000 overly dynamic URLs on our site?

Thanks. I hadn't thought about using a hashtag. If the canonical tag should solve the issue anyway, I think I'll leave it as it is. It does make it a little tough to judge how many errors still remain via the site crawl though.

Hi there,
My view on canonical tags is that they were precisely created to enable webmasters to continue using parameters in URLs and still consolidate SEO authority to the right page.
I think the combination of Canonical tag + robots noindex, follow should definitely help.
We implemented this on couple of client sites and we obtained a nice lift from the linkjuiced passed on by those pages.
The best answer would be to integrate any parameters within your user session rather than add them to URL or even use a hashtag after the proper url :
http://www.example.com/nice-seo-url/#parameter=24-12-2011&userid=santa

Crawl test tool from SEOmoz - which URLs does it actually crawl?
I am using for the first time the crawl test tool from SEOmoz and I do not really understand which URLs the tool is going to crawl. First, it says "enter any subdomain" --> why can´t I do the crawl for the root domain? Second it says "we'll crawl up to 3,000 linked-to pages" --> does that mean that the tool crawls all internal links that it can find on the given domain? Thanks for your help!

How many keywords can I look at at once in keyword difficulty tool?
Can I do like 15 at once? I'm also looking at a way to export all the data from multiple keywords in one view, it seems I can only export individual keywords. Is there a better seomoz tool to accomplish this?

I just see the number of duplicates but not what the urls of the duplicates are? I don't see it in the export either, but maybe I'm missing it Cheers S

Can you release some sample documents for the budding SEO practitionar?
Hey guys, Would it be possible for you to release some sample documents, e.g. an 'initial proposal' example that can help us newbies when aiming to obtain prospective clients. I must admit I am much much more technical minded than articulate when it comes to these matters so a sample report would benefit me dearly that I could use as a starting point. My SEO services so far have been well.. totally free so far whilst I learn more about the techniques involved and determine whether it really is work I'd like to carry out in addition to my day to day development/design tasks. Now I am faced with a potential new client and after spending a fair number of hours Googling, I'm still not 100% sure how to structure the document and whether an initial audit should be carried out first to give me some statistics for the report.. Or whether the report should simply outline what I can offer. The samples I've found online, most of which are quite old, mostly tend to come from established SEO companies and have a corporate feel about them which doesn't reflect on myself as a single consultant. So if you could help out that would be fantastic and I'm sure would be a popular resource for others just starting out in the field. Thank you Dave

Why can I only add three search engines to a campaign?
I need to track global keywords rankings for a web based product. Only being able to add three search engines to a campaign is limiting. I need to track at least 5 regional versions of Google, and curently have to duplicate my campaign to do this. would prefer to keep it under one campaign.

How Do You Leverage Linkscape Data to Overcome Your Competitors?
Hi everyone...I used Q&A a long time ago when my company had a paid subsription but I haven't used it in a while, so I'm excited! And since the Q&A is apparently addressed to the Moz community, I figured I would embrace it and ask all of the Mozzers out there: How do YOU use Linkscape to reverse engineneer a competitor's website? I understand how to use Linkscape. What I'm looking for is specific filtering or "out of the box" uses of Linkscape to truly understand how a website has obtained it's ranking in the search results. In particular, I'm really curious about how everyone (including those who truly know how Linkscape works, i..e the minds behind it) make sense of the "DJ Passed" #'s or "most important links" criteria. I realize Linkscape is wonderful, but what I've found is that often times the links that "pass the most juice" or the links that are the "most important" AREN'T actually the most important links on a site. For example, I often find that the links that have the highest "DJ Passed" are directories. I could be wrong, but my guess would be that directories actually pass very little link juice. If directories gave as much link juice as the linkscape metrics indicate, then they are by far the best linking source, which I think we all know isn't the case in most instances. To be clear...My intention is not to "debunk" the value of Linkscape...On the contrary, I think it's a wonderful tool and I want to understand it's nuances so I can identify "false positives", use it to get a true picture of a website, and get any tips/tricks from those who've successuly used it to overcome there competitors.
