I have a really good article, now what?
-
Hi guys,
New guy to SEO and new site, need some help.
I've got a really good article (Deal Guide: How to Pay $50/mo (or nothing) for Unlimited Everything on AT&T), a few days old and it's already going viral on StumbleUpon and is getting shared on Facebook and Tweeted. My question is, now what?
What can I do to boost it's value? I feel like I should be doing something to further push my article and build recognition for my new website.
Should I run a Facebook sponsored story and further increase "likes" and shares?
Blog/Forum commenting? I've done a little bit of this but there's so many iPhone 4s articles out there, that I don't know where to start. Should I be hitting the high PR pages? How can I find out if comments are follow/no-follow?
Any other ideas?

You definitely need to be getting links from other quality domains to the article. Go find tech and budgeting sites and let them know about the article. If it really is a good article you will probably have some of them mention it.
Google says they use social signals and I think Bing has said the same thing but I haven't seen anything that quantifies the value of likes yet.

Better to place linked-back article or post article and seek multiple links?
Which option is better for SEO purposes: 1. Author article for trade journal in return for link back to my home page. 2. Post article on my site and solicit links from multiple sites. Assume links all have moderate authority.

Are charity/sponsorship links good, bad or just useless?
Some facts: We will probably only doe this 2-3 times a year (we have hundreds of links coming in each year from organic sources). This is for a really prestigious charity website with very nice link profile from other non-profits, news organizations, and even government websites. We will get a logo on their sponsorship page, with a link back to our site. Some articles say Google considers this "buying a link" and will therefore penalize you. Or at best, this will have no effect. And here's a Search Engine Land article saying the exact opposite. $1,500 is a lot of money. So I just want to make sure I'm not wasting it -- or worse -- getting penalized.

Article submission web-sites and SEO
Does article submission web-sites have any impact to SEO in these days? There are a lot of good/not so good article submission databases, but does it really matter if you spend a time to write unique articles for them? I mean, is it a good way for link-building, or should I spend more time for other parts of SEO? There are also a special websites (for example SubmitYourArticle) which automate this process, does it make sense to use this services? Alternates? Lots of questions… Update Sorry, I found some good answers only after that I posted this question.

Is guest posting still a good idea?
Lately the changes in Google all revolve around reducing the power of "self made links". We've seen blog networks devalued and low quality directories devalued. We've also seen people penalized for unnatural patterns of anchor text. With all of this in mind, I'm wondering how much time I should be putting in to guest posting. It seems to me like the safest focus should be on creating great content and then promoting that content. But it's so much easier to spend a few minutes writing an article for someone else and getting an anchor texted link back to mine. To most, guest posting is still considered white hat. But really, when you look at it, you are providing a webmaster content in return for a link back to your site. But it is definitely not a natural vote for your website. It is really just a self made link. If I were Google, I think it would be quite easy to find ways to determine what is a guest post that was created simply to get a link back to a site. And then I would devalue the links from those posts. What do you think? Do you still do much guest posting?

BMR Shutting Down. Now What?
Looks like opportunities are quickly being drying up and sites are shutting down. BMR just announced they are closing. What opportunities are others looking at now?

Data for Articles and Infographics
I have several ideas for articles and infographics, but I am having a hard time finding reliable statistics to include. What resources do you use for this? Do you have a company you recommend for hiring to help develop this data? I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Article Links
I write and publish artcles. Typically I publish them on a few top article sites like EZineArticles. The articles then get picked up by other sites, often numbering in the hundreds. All of the articles are published with a link back to our website using a keyword. Are there any SEO risks in this type of link proliferation?
