Local SEO Help!

At the minute 12 out of my 16 clients are Local SEO clients. I'm new to SEO Moz and still only at the low level subscription which gives me 5 campaigns. It seems to me (and I may be wrong) that SEO Moz is more suited for my clients that want to rank nationally. SEO Moz seems like it might be a little overkill for using up a campaign for local seo. I'm going to stay with SEO Moz as it is great for the few clients I have that want to rank nationally. So my question is does anyone know of a similar company to SEO Moz that focuses soley on local seo?
Does anyone have experience with Bright Local? How about shedding some light on what reporting software is good for LOCAL SEO?

Hi Gary
I'm in Perth Western Australia, I think our local is a bit different, i am sure we cover a much wider area.

Gary, create a Craigslist account and grab the local market. I have a mobile car mechanic who gets more phone calls from Craigslist than from Google. Create 2 ads and keeps them on rotation. Each ad expires in 48 hours. Think I'm joking? TRY IT!

Thanks Alan. To me the problem with local search is it only covers a 20 mile radius at best with Google Places. I have one client who does kitchen remodeling. I can get him to show up in the #1 position in his own town and a few surrounding towns but outside of that I have to move to PPC. An example would be: if someone searches on the keyword "Kitchen Remodeling" 10 miles away his company does not show up. The only to fix is PPC.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Gary ,
At Pin Agency we do a good amount of local for Los Angeles. I can not vouch for Brightlocal as we have not used them . I can tell you though that getlisted.org is a really awesome launch pad and it is free ! Getlisted.org is maintained by some of the best local gurus . You can not go wrong with getlisted.org. I have also been testing out a pure local platform getmelisted.net since it was launched privately in Beta and I can say I was impressed and me and my team use this platform now. Those 2 assets should point you in the right direction when handling multiple local clients. The guy who developed getrmelisted.net is a friend and is very helpful in training people on his new platform. Let me know if you want an introduction .
Hope this helps.

Unless you are international, i dont see much difference in the SEO. Obviously you want to include some local keywords, list yourself in loacl directories, but apart from that i think the approch is much the same.
When a local searcher in dallas texas searches for "accountant" seacrch engines know what city he is in, and will show maps a give local sites an advanatge. If the same searcher enters accountent new york, it will sjow maps for New York and give new york sites and advanatge in results.
By promoting your site, you are promoting it localy by default.

This is a feature that I have wanted with one of my clients who is a car mechanic. I am more interested in Google Places, but at the same time I don't mind coming out in the regular SERPS. I have never heard of Bright Local. If I were in your shoes, I would use SEOMoz for site crawl diagnostics and competitive analysis. By competitive analysis I mean to see where your competitors are and why they are ranking.
It would be great if SEOmoz could give us local rankings too, but they would have to put a server in every city in the United States to give you an accurate ranking report.

Partner outranking main site in local
I've been working on local for a client, and it looks like the partner's name and one review is outranking the firm name and it's 20 reviews. The firm's GMB profile is better, but they're still buried. Any advice?

What's better for SEO an Optimized Image URL vs Optimized Image File Name?
I would like to know what is best practice for optimizing images for our website. Is it better to give an Image an optimized filename Or an optimized URL for SEO? Or is it better to do both? Would there be any harm in doing both if they are identical in their format? Any help would be greatly appreciated. With thanks, Kate

Looking to hire an SEO for a Technical Review of my site
Hi I am new to SEO. I am the photographer and blogger behind the photography blog ShootTokyo. I am looking to make sure my site is optimized the best it can be for SEO. My site is a hobby for me but has really grown. I am looking make sure I have best practices implemented. I am not looking for quick fixes or try to cheat the system but to make sure I have a good solid foundation in place for SEO. I don't have a lot of experience nor a lot of free time so I want to make sure whatever free time I spend on this is really productive. I am looking to initially hire someone to do a technical assessment of my site and identify any fundamental issues I should address first. Once I have the assessment I am looking for advice on putting together a work plan on what I need to do and the best way to approach it. How can I best use the tools Moz is offering me? Which things are higher value that I should work on first, specific to my site? For more technical things I might hire this person to implement them or teach me how to implement them. If this is your business can you please let me know what your qualifications, experience, a link to your site and give me a range of what you might charge for something like this (you can email me details if you don't want to post here). If this isn't your business but have a recommendation I would love one. I am Tokyo based so ideally someone either in Asia, Europe or West Coast of US as it makes it easier to connect live if needed. Thanks Dave

Once you start fixing Local citations with correct NAP, is it normal for your rankings to plunge at first?
I strongly believe that I have received the most solid Local advice I could from these forums and have started (in just a few days) to make the needed corrections. At the same time I'm somewhat excited and optimistic that it will be a long journey but that it's a learning process. About 5 days ago, I set my website up with "City landing pages" and I started plundering through google, fixing and claiming and correcting as many citations as I could with correct NAP. The journey still continues today as I just got my Bing Local card in the mail and verified. I went to check my rankings on Google Maps, just to see if anything had changed and sure enough it had. My listing had been holding strong at page 10 (which drives me nuts) and now after 5 days of solid work its on page 18. I have to assume that because I'm stirring the dust perhaps Google is confused and maybe in a month or so things might start moving the other way? Thoughts?

Image SEO in 2013
3.26.13 Everything I can find on image SEO is relatively dated and some that I do don't explain exactly what should be done. 1. When designing a site it is easier to simply integrate best practices from the get go. So what are the best practices? Alt tags - these are to explain the photo for handicapped individuals but you can naturally weave in a good keyword. Image titles - do these matter? URL of the jpg - should we put in a good keyword here? What about schema? What about Meta tags for the page the pic loads on? What about pinning to Pinterest and what is properly pulled over? What about other social channels and sharing? What am I missing? Who out there has the ultimate guide for optimizing images in 2013? Thank you!

Confused about Google+ Local vs Google Places
If you're doing SEO for a new local business that currently does not have a Google Places listing (or a Google+ Local page), do you have to set up both for them? Or do you simply create the Google Places listing and wait for Google to merge it to a Google+ Local page? I am so confused!
