RE: How can I reduce my high bounce rate?
I've made some recent changes to adwords. Periodically google calls me up to review my adwords. Ultimately it is my responsibility but somewhere along the way the recommended spending more on display and some of the categories weren't the best choice. I think I've been creating my own spam traffic somewhat. Someone reviewed my site and recommended I institute remarketing on search, reallocation of the budget to favor search, and to pause some text display ads that were driving low quality traffic. I hope it helps

RE: Why are these sites outranking me?
Thanks Chris. I did report the bounce rate question and someone else indicated the spammy links. I will start there. I think it might be related to my javascript not working right which gives a poor customer experience? After thinking about it, i did use the meta descriptions extensively throughout the site. I have about 125 product pages and 14 product category pages which i spent a lot of time doing the seo on. for instance, if a customer searches for graphene-nanoplatelets my landing page is https://www.cheaptubes.com/product-category/graphene-nanoplatelets/ which I think is highly optimized and not too spammy and we are the 4th organic result. I have neglected some of the non product oriented pages and shouldn't have. I definitely will revisit SEO but right now code issues and spammy links are my #1 suspects. I finally fixed a lot of the script issues but now the site takes 4 seconds to load which is a deal breaker for mobile and that is 30% of my traffic. I'm trying to find someone I can hire to fix it but last time i did that it led to this situation.

RE: How can I reduce my high bounce rate?
Hi Matt - I guess its both. I mainly look at my yoast analytic but google analytic says I have a70% bounce rate. I did recover my search engine rankings, for instance for graphene nanoplatelets I am # 4 in organic search. Most of my keywords I am on the 1st page of organic results for

How can I reduce my high bounce rate?
I've recently upgraded to a WP site but i have a very high bounce rate. It is typically 75-80% and recently I saw a 95% bounce rate. I found part of the issue was I neglected to change the urls for my adwords acct but I did that weeks ago and its still very high. Last week, for 1 day only i had 18% but it shot back up when I made some code changes that didn't pan out as expected. The site is an online store and is www.cheaptubes.com
I really need to fix it. my business is severely hurting. Any and all ideas are appreciated.

RE: Why are these sites outranking me?
Thanks Chris - You've given me something to follow up on. I do rank well for many keywords, like graphene nanoplatelets, i am the 3rd organic hit and am on the 1st page of google for the keywords I'm trying to rank for which makes me reticent to reduce any overused keywords. I added a WYSIWYG editor to the woocommerce product category pages so they will be the ranking pages. Rankings is the whole reason I spent thousands of $ paying someone to redo my site, but they messed it up so much that I had to spend hundred hours fixing it. I had to take it over to recoup my rankings after the algo updates. If my rankings are good now it seems like it might not be an SEO issue but why the high bounce rate? In January I had 95% bounce rate one day, almost 100% of my visitors bounced? Since then I've been aggressively trying to fix it.
I think the work I've been doing has helped. Last week my bounce rate fell to 18% for 1 day with 700 people per day visiting the site but now its back up to 80% and down to 225 visitors but the site had issues all weekend which i think i've mostly resolved. I've spent the last 4 days trying to fix the theme, it seems to have issues. I might have to retheme it but thought it was better working with a known theme trying to fix it rather than trying to retheme over the weekend. I didn't bother with meta descriptions because the search engines don't check them. us-nano has keywords stuffed their metas, i would think they would be penalized for that. I think you are right about alexa. if you know of any good code validators please let me know. I've been using W3C but the code they provide from html tidy mostly worked but caused other errors.
if you have any other suggestions please let me know. i might be missing something? how do i reduce bounce rate?

RE: Why are these sites outranking me?
Thanks Chris - i've been in WP hell since posting that. I fixed an error but crashed part of the site, no mobil nav and other theme issues. I've been working all weekend trying to get back to where i was thursday. the folks who made my theme weren't on their game i guess. They resent me an updated version of my theme but when i try to validate it at W3C it validates at 2%. The theme as I've edited validates 10-11% so it didn't make sense for me to go backwards and lose several months SEO work and validate worse when I'm trying to clear the errors. I've been validating code and uploading it, checking the site, then the next. I broke the site several times but have it back. I will check the plugin. Right now I'm trying to figure out why I have 151 404 errors according to screaming frog, they look like this. https://www.cheaptubes.com/
I'm also trying to figure out how to fix the theme files i couldn't get to validate or the ones that did validate and still crashed my site....ugh

How do I stop someone from hijacking my site?
I had lost a lot of search engine rankings & it almost put me out of business. I worked a lot on the site in April and in May my sales rebounded 37%+ almost back to where they typically are. I have blamed Panda and saw another Panda update in May and my traffic is declining again. Today I happened to decide to check what pages were being indexed and I also noticed that when I published an update this morning it said the page "<cite class="_Zd">www.cheaptubes.com/index2.asp</cite>" exists on the destination server but not in current site and it asked if I wanted to delete it. I said no at the time but am going to delete it right after this question. I went to google & put "site:cheaptubes.com" into the search. My website has about 50 pages but google has "About 2,160 results" @ 10X per page. The first four pages are mostly my pages but I noticed even on the first page, 3rd result was for Nike shoes and it isn't my site. Someone has hacked my site and put up over 21,000 pages! That must be the real reason behind my website problems, right? How do I stop this from happening again? Is this having the negative effect that I fear it is?

RE: Duplicate content penalty
Thanks Everyone. I got the old url cheaptubesinc.com 301'd to cheaptubes.com this week. Of course network solutions left off the / after .com and before the page name so that only the home page would 301 and they could try to sell me more 301s, it cost $60 for 1 and I have 48 pages on my site. I called and emailed them all week and they kept saying they had done it right and and they couldn't force google to change the links. I then realized if I typed www.cheaptubesinc/graphene.htm that it didn't work because it 301'd to www.cheaptubes.comgraphene.htm. They were argumentative with me even though I was polite with them even though I didn't want to be. I finally got a tech on the phone who said he would add the slash and ask his boss for forgiveness. However given the history of having the domain parked and pointed before and that not working over time & now this, I think my best bet is to transfer my domains to someone else. I heard bluehost is good. My concern is if they were that unethical in our dealings and the boss was argumentative in emails than they could go in an remove the slash at any time.
I also found a ton of code errors right at the top of my pages. I now know it was from putting up temporary messages but not checking to make sure the code was clean. The woman I bought my them from (6.5 years ago I paid her $60 and she still helps me for free, what difference between her & NS) notice open H1's & P elements at the top of the pages. I was still ranking well for acronyms but missing out on the long keywords since last july which caused my sales to drop off. I figure I lost at least 150K in sales because I neglected my website and didn't clean up the code on my pages a painful lesson I won't soon forget. On tuesday, when I searched single walled carbon nanotubes I had to go 8 pages back in google to find my page. By week's end I was #8 on page 1 and ahead of sigma aldrich a major materials supplier.
Thank you so much for your help everyone, it is sincerely appreciated

RE: New website server code errors
Thank you Dirk. That must be what moz sees too. I'm new to WP & worked with a developer early on who turned out to be just kinda coasting thru easy 3-5 page sites but not very good with ecommerce sites like mine. I've spent months finishing and fixing it. if you want a laugh, my old site until 3 weeks ago was still in frontpage and that's why (along with outdated SEO methods) i got hit hard by algorithm updates. This site was built on another server and moved. I've still been fixing outdated links to the dev server where i find them. I will try your suggestion today

RE: Website server errors
Thank you so much Trenton. I will review the articles when I have a minute. I did try stackoverflow but my question didn't get any response. Thanks for the links, very helpful. I have done all the redirects thru Yoast SEO Premium. I talked with them yesterday and they said I have to do the redirects from the old website. I will try your suggestions

Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
