Will it work for me or not?

I am going to add following code to my htaccess page.
Options -Indexes
Will it work for me or not?
Yes, I have similar problem with my code structure. Yesterday, I have set Relative path for all URLs. But, I am not sure about replacing of image name in code after make change in folder.
So, I don't want to go with that manner. I also discussed with my development team and recommend to go with htaccess method.
But, give me caution to follow specific method otherwise it may create big issue for crawling or indexing. Right??
Yes, I checked article to know more about it.
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/htaccess.html
But, I am not able to find my solution. Can you suggest me specific article which suppose to help me more in same direction?
Today, I have checked indexing for my website in Google. I found very interesting result over there. You can check that result by following result of Google.
I aware about use of robots.txt file and can disallow images folder to solve this issue.
But, It may block my images to get appear in Google image search.
So, How can I fix this issue?
You are right. Because, I have solid confusion after reading article about duplication. I checked my website and found HTTPS and HTTP pages and raising questions in that direction.
So, What about canonical tag. I am too confuse with it. What is ultimate conclusion. Because, I have make it live one website after getting suggestion.
Any eCommerce experience which will help me to understand more. What is best solution in my case. My goal is remove duplication in website and improve crawling rate.
I want to add similar mind bubble in this question.
http://www.lampslightingandmore.com/
https://www.lampslightingandmore.com/
I have make canonical tag live after discussion over here. But, I have confusion regarding Relative & Absolute URLs.
I am using absolute URLs in canonical tag but, website have relative URLs.
So, Does it create any issue or stop down get benefit of canonical tag?
Yes, I don't want to crawl my HTTPS pages and don't want to create duplication by HTTPS and HTTP pages.
My question is in same manner. So, why WayFair have set canonical in website?
Right now, I am working on eCommerce website. [Lamps Lighting and More]
I can find out both URLs in website as follow.
HTTP Version:
http://www.lampslightingandmore.com/
HTTPS Version:
https://www.lampslightingandmore.com/
I have check one of my competitor who has implemented following canonical on both pages. Please, view source code for both URLs.
Then, I checked similar thing in SEOmoz website. Why should I not check in SEOmoz because, They are providing best SEO information so may be using best practice to deal with HTTPS & HTTP. LOL
I tried to load following URL so it redirect to home page.
https://www.seomoz.org is redirecting to http://www.seomoz.org
But, following URL is not redirecting any where as well as not set canonical over there.
https://www.seomoz.org/users/settings
I can find out following code on http://www.seomoz.org/robots.txt
**User-agent: ***
** Disallow: /api/user?***
So, I am quite confuse to solve issue. Which one is best 301 redirect or canonical tag? If any live example to see so that's good for me and make me more confident.
Today, I read very useful blog post on SEOmoz regarding social media search and trends for better keyword research.
I come to know about Google Ngram Viewer.
What is this? I don't get it. Can it help me in my eCommerce website marketing?
I agree with it. If you want to go with multiple XML site maps so you have to wait after submission.
I have very good experience with multiple XML site maps.
I am working on eCommerce website and submitted 24 XML site maps to Google webmaster tools.
Just look in to multiple XML site maps for Lamps Lighting and More!
You can see that Google webmaster tools shows very few index URLs.
I have similar experience for my another eCommerce website where I have submitted 7K+ URLs and 300+ indexed by Google with in 15 days.
I have developed multiple XML site maps for my eCommerce website (Lamps Lighting and More) and submitted to Google webmaster tools. You can see attached image to know more about it.
I measured that, Google is not crawling effectively after it. Please, check image and let me know regarding issue.
Hi Aaron,
I was searching for same stuff on Google. I just search for local listing websites + seomoz and land on this post.
Then, I tried another query to get it done and found such a great insightful list which may be help to you.
I hope:: It will help you.
I experienced negative impact on crawling after upload robots.txt file on HTTPS pages. You can find out both URLs as follow.
Robots.txt File for HTTP: http://www.vistastores.com/robots.txt
Robots.txt File for HTTPS: https://www.vistastores.com/robots.txt
I have disallowed all crawlers for HTTPS pages with following syntax.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Does it matter for that? If I have done any thing wrong so give me more idea to fix this issue.
I am going forward with multiple XML sitemap after long R & D.
I want to add response on my question which I found from external website after raising question over here.
Of course GA will not track the keywords because they are not present in the tagged url of the landing page and the CSE are not recognized as search engines to GA. You can try to modify your tracking code to list those CSEs as search engines in your GA account.
Check here:
http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/gaJS/gaJSApiSearchEngines.html#gat.GA_Tracker._addOrganic
The first parameter will be the CSE name and the second parameter will be the query parameter of the CSE when people search on them. For example when you search on google, the keyword appears in the url of the search result after "q="
So the code will be _gaq.push(['_addOrganic', 'google.com', q]);
Likewise you can do for all your CSEs. Just go to the CSEs and search to find the search query parameters.
I got it...
Again thanks to give your time with my issue.
You raised one more mind bubble with my current stuff.
The most important thing is to work on building good links from other sites.
Now, I will digging till than good performance. I have no worry because you there on SEOmoz.
I am not raising one more question for link building just share my thoughts... going to close my discussion on this topic...
How I creative about Title creation? It's my own survey!! You have to vote for it. LOL
OOPS!! My website links the most to me, I can't get it??
You again with me on my way! Thanks for your prompt reply. So, I don't need to worry about it. Right?
Today, I have checked Google webmaster tools to get answer of following question.
Who links the most to my website? I was assumed that Google webmaster tools provide me list of external website where I have created my text links.
But, I can't get it when see my own website links the most to me. (4652??)
I checked my other websites which are integrated in Google webmaster tools. They also developed on same platform as well as same internal linking structure.
But, I am not able to find out similar issue over there.
That's why I am quite confuse with Vista Store. How can I solve it? Does it really matter?
"Open Site Explorer is my favorite one and always using that to get it done. But, Google webmaster tools is also active & free so why should I not jump in to... "
I am thinking on same way. If I will create individual XML sitemap for my Table Lamps category so help me more to focus more on specific category.
If any category will not index by Google so I can focus more on quality of product pages.
What you think about it?
I have read such a great blog posts on Multiple XML Sitemaps on following websites before a week.
I have created multiple XML sitemaps for my eCommerce website with following structure and submitted to Google webmaster tools.
http://www.vistastores.com/main_sitemap.xml
http://www.vistastores.com/products_sitemap.xml
But, I am not satisfy with my second XML sitemap because it contain more than 7K+ product page URLs and looks like very slow crawling by Google!
I want to separate my XML sitemap with following structure.
With Root Level Category
http://www.vistastores.com/outdoor_sitemap.xml
http://www.vistastores.com/furniture_sitemap.xml
http://www.vistastores.com/kitchen_dining_sitemap.xml
http://www.vistastores.com/home_decor_sitemap.xml
OR::: End Level Category
http://www.vistastores.com/table_lamps_sitemap.xml
http://www.vistastores.com/floor_lamps_sitemap.xml
.
.
.
.
.
.
. etc....
So, Which is best structure for Multiple XML Sitemap?
I read some where as follow. So, which is right? I am too confuse...
a single feed can handle up to about 100,000 items of
all types and categories -- from handbags to hammers.
up to 10 feeds may be registered for up to 1,000,000 items.
multiple feeds are mainly intended to submit
more than 100,000 items -- not as a general
separation of products.
there are various issues associated with multiple feeds
that should be taken into account -- such as coordinating
unique id values across all feeds and update and upload
coordination issues; but 10 registered feeds are allowed.
I want to give more idea for other comparison shopping engine like TheFind Merchant Center.
I want to track keywords for visits of comparison shopping engines like TheFind, GoShopping and similar one. I have submitted my product feed to TheFind merchant center with following URL tag.
Google analytics track keywords as (not set) so How can I fix it?
You can see more details on attached image.
I have submitted my product feed to Google Merchant Center. There are 7K+ products in one product feed. (data_feed.txt)
I am not satisfy with my products' performance on Google shopping. Because, I am not able to maintain data quality for all products as well as not able to focus on high selling categories.
Can I submit multiple product feed with separation of categories as follow.
category001_data_feed.txt (With 200 High selling products)
category002_data_feed.txt (With 100 offers products)
I have read entire blog post which was recommend by you. Kate Morris has given us such a great post and suggest to create unique content on product pages.
But, It's quite hard for me to create unique content for Manufacture Detail tab for 7K+ products.
Can I go forward with Ajax or Java Query to make it hidden. So, crawler will not able to crawl that content. What you think about it?
No, That content is displaying in all product pages. I am able to find out that content in source code.
I am surviving with Google's crawling issue. Google had not index my product pages yet. I have Google a lot and read too many articles to get it done. But, I did not get satisfy answer with it.
I just checked my product pages and found that: There is one tab with Manufacturers Details containing one paragraph.
This content is available on too many product pages with same manufacturer. You can know more by visiting following URL.
http://www.vistastores.com/indoorlighting-elklighting-d1472.html
So, Does it matter to stop my crawling? If yes so How can I fix it?
Yes, I want to track keywords which was searched on Google shopping for my products and land on my product page.
I want to track comparison shopping engine traffic with keywords in Google Analytics. So, How can I get it done?
I am using Google Analytics URL Builder to track traffic which are associated to comparison shopping engine.
My product page URL load with following format when some one click on comparison shopping engine.
Please, see format of product page URL
Now, I have problem with tracking as follow. Please, see this Google Analytics traffic sources screen shot to know more.
Comparison shopping engine traffic is going to track with other section and not indicate keyword.
I want to track keyword which help me to understand more about my product feed performance. It will help me for better understanding regarding keywords which was searched by my customers to land on my website.
I have issue regarding duplicate pages on website as follow.
http://www.vistastores.com/review.html?pr_page_id=90344
http://www.vistastores.com/review.html?pr_page_id=90345
I checked my Google webmaster tools and found that Google have already set Parameter with pr_page_id. So, what is this? Will Google index all that pages? Can I use following Meta tag to block indexing? Which one is best?
Great. Thanks for your prompt reply and I suppose to integrate with my problems.
Ryan,
I 100% agree with it and felt similar situation. But, we have to drill down issues and get final solution which suppose to help us in retaining of business. What you think about it?
I am here to find out final solution and I think you have gave me such a great suggestion. But, I can't do that or remove first 2 domains' content.
So, What's other alternatives for me that's more important. I can do any thing [Exclude removing of 2 domains ] to sustain my organic ranking as well as do 100% white hat SEO for my website.
Ryan wants to say in following manner. If I suppose to search black outdoor floor lamps keyword to Google and assume that I got top 3 ranking with my 3 products.
Now, what will happen in users' mind? Users will click on all top 3 result and will find same products.
So, users of Google will irritate and think that, Google is providing me dump result. Google is going to loose own value due to our dump SEO stuff.
Ryan... You are trying to tell in that direction. Right??
Yes, I can understand it. But, I am doing marketing of my website for US. I know that, there are huge competition in US so I want to take all steps which prevents me in all factors.
I can't follow option 1. That's for sure. I am going to follow option 2.
You have given me such a nice information and suggestion. But, I want to give one input in your answer.
I don't want to work on First and Second domain. I want to leave it on current situation and focus 100% on Third domain. (http://www.vistastores.com)
I worried about internal competition which was created by me.
Patio Umbrellas - See VistaPatioUmbrellas.com
I have similar category with similar product with similar keyword.
http://www.vistastores.com/69_21/outdoor/patio-umbrellas.html ( I want to get rank for this URL during Patio Umbrellas keyword)
I want to give same example for other keyword.
Outdoor Table Lamps - See LampsLightingAndMore.com and similar page as follow.
http://www.vistastores.com/6_73_74/home-decor/indoor-lighting/table-lamps.html
This is big question for me. How How How can I compete my already ranked pages with same products?
Today, I have watched such a great video on YouTube from Google Webmaster Help with following subject.
Does selling the same product on three different domains look spammy?
Now, I have same issue with my three websites. You can find out details as follow.
Traditional Table Lamp in Brushed Steel Finsih with Green Glass
http://www.vistastores.com/indoorlighting-roycelighting-rtl50091-12b.html
7.5' Patio Umbrella Push Tilt - Olefinhttp://www.vistapatioumbrellas.com/marketumbrellas-californiaumbrella-slpt758-f13-red.htmlhttp://www.vistastores.com/marketumbrellas-californiaumbrella-slpt758-f13-red.htmlThere are three different website with 4000+ same products, same Title tag, same Meta description, same price, same details, same SKU number, same images and same details. There are very few pages indexed by Google for VistaStores.com. [I have submitted series of question on SEOmoz Q & A forum to resolve my website's crawling issue.]I assume that, this is one of biggest reason to stop my crawling. So, How can I fix it?
Oh great. That's fine. Now, I got idea... What's wrong with my site. If I suppose to find that duplicate page in Admin so I may not able to find that pages. Right?? So, I just need to set 301 (Permanent Redirection) with help of htaccess. Now, It's clear. Thanks a lot for your prompt reply and quick discussion on my issue.
Are you talking about HTML sitemap or XML sitemap?
If HTML sitemap so you are right and I suppose to make it live very soon with proper structure.
If you are talking about XML sitemap so I have created it with two partition.
http://www.vistastores.com/main_sitemap.xml
http://www.vistastores.com/products_sitemap.xml
So, What you think about it?
301 redirection is final. Right?? After removal of duplicate pages.
In addition you may want to remove "zero products" pages from index and not link to them as they are not good for users or search engines.
Yes, you are right. I want to remove zero product pages as well as all pages which were created due to human error.
As I mentioned above: Following page is not available on website for buyers. Buyers will not able to see this page any more because, not a single page available on website which is available with hyperlink to that page.
http://www.vistastores.com/126/cookwares.html
But, SEOmoz crawler detect it and when I see in excel so I quite confuse. Because, that page is working and visible with all products which are available to original page.
Users are not able to go that duplicate page but Google crawler can go there and able to detect as duplication.
I have bit knowledge about duplication and assume that Google will detect both page as duplicate. That's it. And, I want to resolve it.
I think, This issue is not regarding URL rewriting. I can say very sure for it. As I said, duplicate page content URLs are not available on website. If any visitors will visit website and go to each page so that visitor will not able to find duplicate page.
URL rewriting will fix issue regarding URL structure but, what about duplication which is available in my own website to compete both pages with same keyword?
I am quite confuse with 301 redirect. There are too many duplicate pages which were generated due to wrong categorization or create new same category rather edit old category.
I want to remove all duplicate pages from my website and want to set 301 redirect.
I want to give one example for it.
Original Page:
http://www.vistastores.com/125_126/kitchen-and-dining/cookwares.html
Duplicate Page:
http://www.vistastores.com/126/cookwares.html
Duplicate pages were created due to Admin issue or by human error. No one will find our land on duplicate page during website surfing.
Now, I want to detect and remove all pages which are available with duplicate content.
So, Does it matter to delete that pages from website and set 301 to associated page or home page?
I have created one campaign over SEOmoz tools for my website. I have found 89 duplicate content issue from report.
Please, look in to Duplicate Page Content Issue.
I am quite confuse to resolve this issue. Can any one suggest me best solution to resolve it?
I am still waiting for additional answers in same direction. Can any one help me? I need answer on urgent basis.
Oh great. BTW: Automatic Meta info creation will not mesh up my organic ranking. Right??
I want to define best structure of Title Tag and Meta Description for my eCommerce website. There are too many categories over there and many be increase in near future.
There are 7K+ products live on website so, it's quite hard to develop Title Tag and Meta Description for all product pages. That's why I have set automatic Title Tag and Meta Description creation with help of developers.
I want to do similar stuff for my category pages. Can anyone suggest me structure of Title Tag and Meta Description which suppose to help me in well over Google's organic result.
I have define structure as follow.
Title Tag:
Category Name: FREE Shipping & Discount Category Name | Vista Stores
Meta Description:
Category Name with FREE shipping, 100% price guarantee, Buy and save 20% to 40% on attractive, modern and discount Category Name.
Meta Keywords:
Category Name
I also want to give real time example with specific URL. (http://www.vistastores.com/69_21/outdoor/patio-umbrellas.html)
Category Name = Patio Umbrellas so with help of above structure Title Tag and Meta Description will be as follow.
Title Tag:
Patio Umbrellas: FREE Shipping & Discount Patio Umbrellas | Vista Stores
Meta Description:
Patio Umbrellas with FREE shipping, 100% price guarantee, Buy and save 20% to 40% on attractive, modern and discount Patio Umbrellas.
Meta Keywords:
Patio Umbrellas
So, Does it matter for good performance? If any inputs in same direction so I am eager to read it.
That's good. I am going to fix Red first than focus more on other section.
