Hey there
At this time there isn't a way to pull the search visibility metric via an API or some type of automated fashion. Our Search Visibility score represents your overall ranking performance for your tracked keywords. It’s calculated by:
Taking all of your keywords and the associated URL’s position and applying a CTR (click-through rate) for each position.
The CTRs are then summed
This number is then divided by the total number of keywords.
If you'd like to read more about how Search Visibility works, check out our Help Hub.
Any time you initiate a crawl, it counts against your limits, even if something on the site is blocking us from crawling it. I would suggest that write into help@moz.com so we can help you diagnose what is blocking us from crawling your site.
Hey, thanks for reaching out.
All links that are pointed to your site are weighted in your Domain Authority score, this includes follow and nofollow links.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions.
Hey!
The tool currently only calculates search volume on a National level, just for clarification. You may want to to try the above comment, to see if that works for your SEO efforts.
thanks
Hey Kirk! We built our crawler to obey robots.txt crawl-delay directives. In the future, if this is ever an issue, you can use the crawl delay to slow Rogerbot down to a more reasonable speed. However, we don't recommend adding a crawl delay larger than 10 or Rogerbot might not be able to finish the crawl of your site.
Just add a crawl delay directive to your robots.txt file like this:
User-agent: rogerbot
Crawl-delay: 10
Here's a good article that explains more about this technique: https://moz.com/learn/seo/robotstxt. I hope this helps, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!
Hey!
DA scores are specific to the root domain, we are not taking into account a subdomain. So even if you search a subdomain that doesn't exist (ffff.blog.ir), DA score is still only relevant to the root domain (blog.ir) which does exist.
Page Authority on the other hand is specific to the exact page you are searching, so it makes sense that mihanblog.com and hfilm.mihanblog.com would have different page authority scores are they are separate pages.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions.
Hey, thanks for reaching out!
Moz can provide analytics around your link building efforts, but we do not implement and SEO work on your behalf.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions.
Hey Steve!
Those are older deprecated responses, they will return a value of '0'. We left them available for calling so they don't break anyones existing script but they are not valid metrics. You can see the full list of supported URL metrics here:
https://moz.com/help/links-api/making-calls/url-metrics
Hope that helps, let us know if you have further questions.
Hey! Dave here from the Help Team
Can you write into us at help@moz.com with the site that is having crawl issues? We can take a look and help you out.
thanks!
In the main rankings section of your Campaign, the related URL is automatically populated with the highest ranking URL for that particular keyword- this URL can't be updated as it is pulled directly from the SERP at the time of the data collection.
That being said, if you'd like to see how a particular page is ranking for that keyword, there are a few ways you can see that info. The first would be in the Analyze a Keyword section. Here you can select "keyword performance" from the drop down to see the top 5 ranking URLs for that keyword on your site.
The next would be in Page Optimization. Here you can create a pairing of a keyword and URL from your tracked site and we will show you how well optimized that page is for that keyword along with the rank. The rank will then update weekly and will be able to be seen in your Page Optimization's "track and monitor" tab.
I've got a few guides to help get you started with these tools:
https://moz.com/help/moz-pro/page-optimization/overview
https://moz.com/help/moz-pro/rankings/analyze-keywords
Yes, this is correct. Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions.
Hey there - thanks for reaching out to us.
The new model gives search marketers the ability to more accurately judge the value of a site and their work.
The new Domain Authority score offers a more accurate representation of a site’s ranking ability through a machine-learned model that is set to keep pace with Google’s algorithm updates. The model includes proprietary metrics link Spam score and link quality patterns.
The inclusion of Spam Score and link quality pattern identification mean that links from valuable sources will be given more weight in the calculation of DA than links from spammy sources. With spam score, we are measuring the spam score of sites that are linking to you, your own sites spam score does not impact DA.
We’ll continue to improve our Domain Authority and Page Authority algorithms and strengthen our link index as the search landscape changes. In terms of future updates, we anticipate this new DA model being quite stable over time. We will keep track of possible changes that we might need to make and we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
I hope this helps but please let us know if there's more we can help to clarify!
hey, thanks for reaching out!
Top Pages in Link Explorer only calculates up to 500 pages, so that CSV is returning all the results we have in Top Pages. Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions.
Hey, thanks for reaching out!
Yes Moz will always start at the HTTP level, however that doesn't stop us from crawling HTTPS, if you have proper redirection in place. Unfortunately there isn't a way to "force" the crawler, we will crawl the entire domain (or scope that is designated).
Let us know if you have further questions!
Hey Maureen, thanks for reaching out!
So I tried to curl your new domain (http://ryemeadgroup.co.uk) against our link index user-agent and it appears we are blocked from that site. I get a 403 forbidden when trying to access it so we would not be able to index it without being unblocked. Typically this is resolved by your hosting admin, they should be able to whitelist our user-agent "dotbot". I hope that helps to point you in the right direction, if you need further technical assistance, please reach out to help@moz.com!
Hey Roman!
We have seen instances where capitalization of keywords can return different serp results, so we do collect rankings based off if a keyword is capitalized or not. Hope that helps to clarify, let me know if you need anything else.
Hey, thanks for reaching out!
So it's entirely possible for our user-agent to get a response that doesn't reflect the same when you view it in a browser. Have you checked your server logs for these 5xx errors responding to our user agent "rogerbot" to check if you see it on your end? If you want to send us an email to help@moz.com, we can take a look into your specific example here, so we can make sure we have access to report on your site properly.
thanks!
Hey Elaine! You can disable the push to GMB feature within your Moz Local account by navigating to manage accounts
https://moz.com/local/bulk/connections/gmb/manage and then uncheck the "overwrite listing details"
As far as the SEO implications of creating a new GMB vs un-suspending an old one, I cannot speak to that, but I would like to look at the state of your Moz Local account. Is it possible for you to send us an email the help@moz.com from the email account that houses the Moz Local listing so we can take a look at whats going on?
thanks
Hey Steve! If you have specific questions about reported site crawl issues, you can shoot us an email to help@moz.com. However if you are looking more for someone to show you how to fix them in Magento, you would need to reach out to Magento support or an SEO consultant to work through the issues as we unfortunately don't offer consulting. Feel free to reach out to us at that email if you need assistance with the Moz toolsets.
thanks
Hey! We were experiencing a slight bug but the engineers put through a fix so all your data should look accurate again. if you have further issues, please shoot us an email to help@moz.com so we can help out!
thanks
hey! Can you send an email to help@moz.com with this request?
thanks!
Hey Charles!
The scope of the two tools are different, Site Crawl has a much higher limit of pages that can be crawled, with you plan we look for up to 20k 200ok pages, where On Demand Crawl is looking for only the first 3k pages that return 200 ok status.
Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else.
hey Scott!
Traffic actually cannot be measured without the use of Google Analytics, returning traffic for SERP results is not possible within the tool set unless you had GA account information for all those sites.
You can track traffic in a campaign by adding your own Google Analytics, but it would be specific to your site only.
There are 2 ways to connect your Google Analytics to Moz Pro.
I've got a guide that talks through some troubleshooting which I think might help.
Hey, thanks for reaching out.
Sorry you are having issues accessing parts of our site. We would need more information on the connection refused. Is it a cloudflare error or something we are generating? If you could please write into help@moz.com with more info, so we can help troubleshoot.
thanks!
Hey Roman! This is possible with the use of our API and Google Sheets API for you to write results to a Google sheet. That would require a developer to build that functionality for you but its definitely possible. Here are some resources if you wanted to try it out yourself.
Google API documentation: https://developers.google.com/sheets/api/
Moz API documentation: https://moz.com/help/links-api
Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else.
Hey, thanks for reaching out to us!
The best way to accomplish this would be to use the Keywords by Site tool and then navigate to ranking keywords. You would not be able to bulk upload these, you would need to run each domain separately. This will return keywords ranking for URL and search volume. For linking domains, you would also need to run a separate search in a different tool called Link Explorer. That tool focuses on link data.
The tool also will not bulk import keywords and then export suggestions for each keyword, you would need to run a keyword query for each keyword to get that data back.
I hope that to answer your questions, if you need further assistance, feel free to send us an email at help@moz.com
hey, Dave from the Help Team here.
The 430 error seems to be a result of shopify blocking our bot from accessing those pages temporarily. We have seen instances where this clears up after the second crawl, so keep your eye out for your weekly campaign update email in the meantime.
The good news is, that your human visitors will still be able to access your pages to do their shopping, phew!
Thanks so much for letting us know. We'll track this issue and look into a fix. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you at this time.
Hey there!
can you send an email to help@moz.com with your account credentials? We will help you out.
thanks!
Hey, thanks for reaching out!
If the listing you are seeing on directories is unmanaged and a close match to your listing in Moz Local, then there is a good chance that is the listing we are going to try and claim. If the directory does not have a close match, we will create one on your behalf.
Which ever direct partner listings Moz Local is managing for you, we will update automatically based off the NAP information that you signed up with so there is no need for you to go to each directory on your own, it is an automated process. Hope that helps to clarify, let us know if you need anything else!
Hey, thanks for reaching out to us!
With On Demand Crawl, you can sort by crawl depth, either in the UI or in the CSV export. This should give you the hierarchy that you are looking for. The higher the depth number the deeper the crawler was on your site. I hope that helps to answer your question, let us know if you need anything else.
Hey Brett!
Are you referring to refreshing a keyword list? You first need to select the keyword checkbox and then hit refresh. If they are not selected, they will not refresh. If you are encountering problems, even with these instructions, please send us an email at help@moz.com so we can assist you!
Thanks
Hey! Dave from the Help Team here,
Most discrepancies in keyword rankings are caused by the way Moz is querying Google and other search engines. Our process completely strips personalization from the query. This means that it's more representative of a national average for all searchers in the country, but it also means that you may not be able to reproduce these exact SERPs within your browser because your location is factored into your search results.
One of the SEO experts in our community offered a really great explanation of this difference here.
If you are seeing some big discrepancies that don't seem to make sense to you, please shoot us an email at help@moz.com with some examples, we would be happy to take a look for you!
thanks
Hey Brett!
I responded to the open ticket we had about this, let me know if you need anything else
thanks
Hey Oleg, Dave from the Help Team here
Currently we do not have discovered and lost metrics available via the Links API, however it is something we are working towards having. Our Help Hub shows all the current metrics available, here is a link:
https://moz.com/help/guides/moz-api/mozscape/api-reference
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
Hey, Dave here from the Help Team!
Can you send us an email to help@moz.com so we can investigate?
thanks!
Hey Erik, Dave from the help team here,
HTTP is best, adding the protocol isn't even necessary, we will auto default it.
example.com will end up http://example.com
Hope that helps!
Hey, Dave here from the Help Team!
Jumping in to answer the technical question, you can definitely use the meta robots tag instead of a disallow directive in your robots.txt file. I would like to point out that Meta Noindex is something we report in Site Crawl so you would see an influx in that issue category but you can mark them as "ignored" as you see fit.
Hey Brett, Dave here from the Help Team.
I think the issue here is that we don't have results that specific for the keyword "r22" based on broadly related topics or synonyms so I don't think that feature will be ideal for that keyword unless you stick to including a mix of sources for suggestions. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions
Hey Jason, sorry for the inconvenience!
Rank tracker was never really intended for daily keyword rankings, which is the reason you had to do the tedious manually updating and even then there was some caching involved. I will certainly pass along your frustration with our product team. Let us know if you we can do anything to help make this transition easier!
Hey! Dave from the help team here,
If you are trying to track just a handful of specific URLs, probably your best option would be to export CSVs and filter out what you want to see. You cant create a custom PDF report to show just specific URLs. You can set it to show like "top 50" performing URLs or in page optimization you can have it show specific keyword/URL rankings. Hope that helps, feel free to reach out to help@moz.com if you have tool specific questions as well!
Hey, Dave here from the help team
Results can vary if you are using different search engines, or tracking locally/nationally. Also if you are verifying in google, you will not have the same striped non personalization that Moz uses to collect rankings. Can you send in an email to help@moz.com with your examples so we can take a look at whats happening?
thanks!
Hey, Dave from the Help Team here,
Can you send in an email to help@moz.com, we will be able to get you taken care of!
Thanks
Hey Marc, thanks for contacting us!
So one thing that might explain the discrepency is that MozBar reads on page elements, where the crawler is looking at the raw source code. Can you send in an email to help@moz.com with some example URLs that we can check out?
thanks!
Hey, Dave from the Help Team here,
We can certainly help you out, can you send a quick email to help@moz.com with your billing name and last 4 digits of the card that was charged so we can locate the transaction?
thanks!
Hey, Dave here from the Help Team
Sorry for the trouble, this is a known issue with the MozBar. Our engineering department is working on a permanent fix, but I do not have an ETA at this time. Let me know if there is anything else I can assist with!
thanks
Hi there — thanks for writing in and sorry about the trouble.
This is definitely due to the way we collect this information for our link index, and it is actually expected that we won’t find every page and link, because we aren’t looking for them all. When we collect this data, we’re looking specifically for the most valuable links and, rather than crawling your entire site or every site, we collect this by starting our crawler on a few highest ranking sites and letting it perform a breadth first search to see what it finds.
For each page that we crawl, we first collect each of it’s links before following these and collecting the details of each page that these link to and so on. There’s a set limit of links that we’ll crawl per page and pages that we’ll crawl per site so it’s expected that we may not follow every link on your site this way.
Generally, we recommend using a wide variety of backlink tools to get the most illustrative picture of how your site's backlink profile looks. OSE and Ahrefs index differently and have different purposes. Ahrefs is good for quantity while OSE is great for finding higher quality links. Domain Authority is our own proprietary metric that is closely correlated to Google rankings, so our customers often use OSE to research influential sites to build links.
