Hello David, my company that I work for has/had several Ebay accounts for different websites and one thing I always noticed is that when we linked our site, or the corresponding product in the listing it would hold power when searching for it. In other words Some of my listing that I put up that really never sold, I would make sure they were heavily optimized and would usually show up in search results. I also noticed that our on site sales would increase when I did this because customers would view our website after looking at the listing which lead to more browsing/buying. But as you said they dissapear after 90 days, and the selling items go away rather fast so it does become somewhat null in purpose. Cannonical Linking is the best way to go!
For your conundrum in Example B with the Calvin Green I would find out which URL version is dominant or has the most link juice and structure the redirects to that links. For instance, let us say [http://www.expressgolf.co.uk/shop/clothing/galvin-green/] is the dominant link I would have the copy urls pointing back to that one like so
I manage an Ecommerce Site as well, I had the same issue with the categories and what I basically did the same thing for each level of my site, categories that have the url ending in /1, /2, /3 and so on I would redirect to the first page to make that Url stronger.
Practically think about what Noindexing or Nofollowing would do, you would lose so much link power that you could harness, With redirects you can focus this power in a more effective manner.
Also I was snooping and clicked Golf Clubs which took me to this URL
expressgolf.co .uk/shop/clubs
Made me realize that you had "clubs" at the end, I would put Golf Clubs because when you do a keyword search for Clubs, Bars come up. Putting a Keyword in the URL can greatly enhance that URL. Just a tip if you want to utilize it or not friend ^.^.

I have given this issue a large amount of thought and the best solution I can think of, is something of the nature of Klout score will be used to determine social Authority. I feel that in the very near future Google will start analyzing social aspects and judge activity, audience, and things of that nature to balance out the social spam. This is just my theory on the situation, but I feel it would be very effective, because the other day I saw a G+ account with nothing but keywords in the description and a link to the website that showed up page 1 rank 1 for a keyword set. Fear not, you showed up to me on Page 8, for Google India.
Possibly you could have taken a Panda update hit. Practice patience and see what happens over the next few weeks and see if your ranking decreases or increases. Either that or the changes you made affected your rankings and Google moved you down.
With both assumptions you need to wait and see what exactly happens. If you continue to dance Google is trying to find a place for you, if you sit at that spot, then you need to figure out what brought you down and change it.

There really isn't any type of SEO training in all honesty. I read a post some time ago that to be a great SEO one has to want to be better. Justin Briggs uses the term "hustle" alot, and he often talks about being motivated with his work and that is the source of his skill. You have to have the curiosity to learn and dig for the information. Visit SEOMoz daily and read the blog posts, watch the WBF's go on Google and do your own experiments and see how the search engine works and before you know it, you will begin to understand how it all works. There was an exceptional post about scouring the lands for opportunities to guest blog or things of that nature however it appears to elude my reach. However guest blogging opportunities are EVERYWHERE! Literally everywhere! Go on Twitter and type in Guest blog, Guest Writer, Guest content and you will see a multitude of people in need of your blogging prowess. Search on Google for Guest Blogging:Keyword(<--for whatever industry,niche it is). One has to search hard for the gems. Sir Thomas is correct, Wikipedia is a non profit organization and can not help profiting companies in that manner. If you notice companies like Dell, and IBM have pages because of their historical significance. Couldn't the content or specific Niche the sites deal with also come into play, with the age of the domains? Considering some types of products require Age of the domain to be popular sellers? Also wouldn't the abandonment of the old site be a loss of resources since it is optimized? Just my brief thoughts.

I looked at some of the sites pointing towards you and it looked like all Article Submissions using a program. If you mean links for breadcrumbs, I would suggest doing something along the lines of submitting your site to specific Directories under business categories, or try to get link on holiday sites, or blogs. You have to place the breadcrumbs for the customer to follow, not Google. I possibly misunderstood what you meant by breadcrumbs if so, my sincerest apologies. Good luck on your quest for page one!

The nature of my problem is that I have optimized the site www.AmericanScooterStore.com for the keyword Mobility Scooters however my quest for page 1 has turned into trying to get any page on my website to show up for that keyword. I checked every page with the SEOMoz optimization checker and they all received A's. I there something I perhaps overlooked, or should I continue to wait and pray Google rewards me? I see a lot of people having problems with this, and if you realize a simple truth the rewards of Facebook with be plentiful. You can not directly market as you have figured out because people go to Facebook to have fun or be at a party. You can't be "That Guy/Chick" at the party that ruins it for everyone, you have to be suave, chill and relaxed to get the "prey" eating out of your hand. Do things like, take pictures around work, post them on the Facebook. During company events show your employees having fun, put faces behind your company. People will look at your company more with those simple signals of "Hey we are people" and "We like to have fun just like you". You should easily start to generate traffic if you target friend requests based of the Niche you are selling to. IE if I am selling pokemon cards my Facebook account would have pictures of me wearing my pokemon badges, or hanging out with friends at Pokemon card tournaments, or pictures of pokemon to get the people looking at my Facebook going oh snap these guys are legit. Then if they are looking to buy cards they will already have my company or myself in their head and will naturally go with what they are most familiar with when they look for a supplier of pokemon cards. It causes a slight loss of link juice which could add up to a big problem if multiple pages have this problem. Try canonical linking with this code.

Make a LinkedIN group centered around your product/products chain and don't promote your business, just talk about Marketing and SEO tactics, be friendly. Hello and Welcome MozFriends!
so I watched the WBF this morning, and I got the idea of making Keyword Tiers for a site like so.
Site
Products- wheelchair, Powerchairs, Hospital Beds, Lifts, Lift Chairs
Specific Items- 16" wheelchairs, 4 wheel power chair, Patient lifts and such.
The Keywords for the Front page would be very general not referencing the sites specific items at all. Like Medical Equipment, supplies things like that.
Keywords for products would be the Manufacturers names, and the category name.
Specific Items would have specific keywords to draw an audience that has a goal and is searching for that specific product.
So my theory/experiment is this. Instead of making the whole site generate traffic for one type of audience, I am making certain tiers for certain audiences. The higher up in the Site Hierarchy the more global the keywords are designed for. It may just be complete and utter non sense but I would like to hear any thoughts on it if it works.

Maybe they will recognize duplicate content in the comments and not index all of them just the original, at least I hope that is what happens. Either way it is great that they are.
The suggestions you made are a good start, however why not something that involves humor in that field like a short comic strip. PICTURES have to have pictures of the people who work their, when they are working, when they are out and about. Pictures are critical for social media it tells the followers that the company is real and the people exist. Good luck on your quest good sir!

So I have been working on my a certain site for a client, optimizing it and such making it SE worthy. Without my knowledge about a month ago he launched two sites that are exact clones of the Ecommerce site I am optimizing. I mean EXACT alt image text, URLS, EVERYTHING! My Alexa rank started jumping back up, my google analytics was showing a fraction of the traffic I was receiving. I just learned about these two other sites and it makes sense because I have two copies of the site out there with the only difference being is the logo image on all 3. I need to know how I can rectify this without taking down the other two sites as my employer refuses to do so because he feels they are a necessary asset. Thank you in advance Friends!

Organic means if an organic organism entered data into a search engine that prompted a response from the search engine that resulted in the query bringing up the said site creating "organic traffic". It is hard to figure out if traffic is ever organic unless you watch every organic entity input the data that causes traffic on your site. So the difference from organic data would be a non organic entity, machine, or device inputting data into a search engine that resulted in the search engine causing traffic on your site. Perception is key to this friend.

I would make a blog that shows some of the car panels being used in restoration projects or repairs to build up a type of "fan" base. Like Kingsford does here http://www.grilling.com/sports/ , they have a blog type that does nothing but promote human interaction with their product. Just me being outside the box, but why generalize your pages with all the terms, instead of making certain pages devoted to certain search terms so that you do not have to worry about awkward content placement and Keyword atrophy on your page. IE Keyword string A correlates to page A with subsidiary phrases that promote Keyword String A, so that you make sure you get all the aspects of the Boston Dental field. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Yes it is an Ecommerce site, and I did not actually have a hand in creating it. It was kind of put in my lap after it had been out for a few months and I was told to make it look pretty. Thank you for the tips I truly appreciate it.

On my website I've optimized our content to match the keywords I have selected for the site. I constantly am Re-writing articles, reading SEOMoz on tips and tricks how to make link juice flow. Yet only one of my keywords ranks decently, the rest never show up. I have the hardest time getting traffic to my site, and sales after that. Maybe I am implementing something incorrectly or there is something I am not doing.
If you have any tips or anything to give me I would gladly accept it, any criticism is also appreciated.

I feel Google no longer wants people to build links in the manner of the great bringing up the meek, but more of the meek making themselves individuals with their content and uniqueness so that people cause natural traffic. I think Panda is more about making an Organic operating system over a silicon hive mind that ranks people based off of their involvement with already established sites. This is just my opinion but I feel it is for the better, because it actually makes it easier to optimize a site if one take the initiative and has to the discipline to do research and hop on social and economic trends with great content which will gain all the organic users. Then again I could be entirely wrong, but I like Pandas and Google Panda ^.^
