Do they offer information of value to the people who visit the site? Are there some user-facing reasons why the sites are popular?

RE: Listing of all Google Indexed Pages
Using site:yourdomain.com in Google, and then going to the end of the results and telling it to show you all of the results, is a good first start. It should get you enough to get an idea of why there are duplicated pages.
The Moz crawl can also help you figure it out, as often with ecommerce you'll have URLs for sorting products by price, name, pagination parameters, etc. We'll throw up a flag when we see a bunch of duplicate content or duplicate titles.
Also look for the easy stuff, such as non-www doesn't direct to www. Fix that, and you've cut your pages in half.

RE: Hi, I have a doubt. If we want to hide unwanted text in a web page its possible with "" tag. And my question "does a search engine crawl those text? help me.
What you have proposed in your question is using the comment tag, which is generally meant for comments to someone who is reading the source code of the page and working on the HTML of a website. For example, identifying that the following section is the Google Analytics script and please don't remove it.
If you want Google to see the keywords, you need to show your users the keywords.

RE: Internal Search Results Appear in Google SERPS
Keep in mind that Google generally does not want to include search results in their search results.

RE: Do the bots crawl the top of the page first - directory listing question
Just want to make sure that you know Google's guidelines are against the buying of links to pass PageRank.

RE: Self linking article
My guess is that they do this because they get scraped, and scrapers also often leave in the links, but I'll ask and see if I can get an answer.

RE: Recommendation for Small Business SEO
Have you thought of instead spending $1000 or $2000 on an audit that can identify your current problems, and give you direction so your staff can work on correcting the issues?

RE: Does anyone know if there are any adwords guideline restrictions against naming a product with the term "Clinically Proven?"
Does AdWords say anything about needing to follow FTC guidelines? If so, that might affect things (need to make sure the FTC rules are complied by).

Can you say why you want to hide this text? If you could give us an example, it'll help us help you a bit more.

RE: Why'd Moz stop showing the list of users?
You're welcome! The fix was pushed out a few hours ago.

RE: Affordable SEO?
Have you considered contacting some of the people and companies on the recommended list, and ask if they can refer you to an individual who would be more in your price range? Many people in this industry do have a list of people they can refer out to if they're not the best fit for the job.

RE: Why'd Moz stop showing the list of users?
I think that's a bug and not a feature. I'll send a note about that to the dev team. Thanks for pointing it out!

RE: Mozscape Index Delayed? Why?
Hi!
We have published a blog post at http://devblog.moz.com/2014/03/the-future-of-mozscape-indexes/ that has some more information you can use as background and to pass along to your customers.

RE: What platform is it better to write my blogs
I'd take the domain authority of blogger out the this equation. That is one downfall of DA, is that it'll show a real high domain authority for a blogspot.com domain, even though in this case it's really the authority of the subdomain that matters.

RE: Multiply Sites / Back Links / i.p Address ?
Why not have just one site, with a page/folder for each city, and all of the strength can go into that one site? Also saves you from having to maintain over fifty sites each time there's a software update, or something needs to be changed.

Thanks everyone! Will check these out when I get a chance, prepping for SMX West at the moment.

RE: Keyword Research Competition
Are they making double the money you are? Like Tony said, the type of keywords matter a lot.
I get traffic for Bismarck waterjet from people in North Dakota looking for a waterjet cutter, but what they find is a page on my site that talks about using a waterjet cutter for the DKM Bismarck warship model. That's traffic my competitor isn't getting, as he doesn't mention waterjet on his page, but that traffic isn't doing me any good.

Wordpress shortcode or plugin for current time
In the footer of my WP site at http://www.strikemodels.com/, I have
"Questions? Call us at xxx-xxx-xxxx 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Pacific time or email [address]"
I've searched, but haven't easily found a shortcode where I can insert the current time for my time zone in this footer statement. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
The Do Not Disturb function on the iPhone has been a big help, but we've still had calls at three in the morning from someone in Australia on New Year's Day who didn't know how to look up time differences online.

RE: Matt Cutts - Guest posts are dead comment
I certainly haven't seen a dip in submissions to YouMoz!

RE: Meta description not showing as per view source on Google results
Often times, Google views the meta description as more of a suggestion than a command. They'll show a different snippet depending on your search query, and there's really nothing you can do about it. Same for the title tag, they'll even change what shows in the SERPs for huge companies like Apple.

RE: How can I easily give access to a freelancer?
Right now, there is not a way to have multiple users to the same Moz account, though that is in development.
One thing you could do is ask the freelancer what reports they would like to see, then run those reports, download them, and email them. They could also take a free trial and be able to set up a campaign for your site and see most of the same data (they just won't have historical data).

RE: Mozscape Index Delayed? Why?
Hi Nancys,
I'm talking with the engineering team to get a good answer for this. I know it's an unexpected delay, and on this end we're also frustrated that we weren't able to get one out in the normal four-week interval. I'll update this thread when I have more information.

Locking the question and directing people back to the earlier posts.
-
RE: Giving access to a new user
Unfortunately, we still don't have an ETA for that. It's a bit more complex than we initially envisioned, though we know it's a feature request that a lot of people want, and we'll all be glad when it's ready.

RE: Have you heard of any white hat methods for influencing Google's auto suggest/auto complete?
It's also against the Terms of Use of Mechanical Turk HITS. https://www.mturk.com/mturk/help?helpPage=policies (I've edited the list to include those most applicable to this situation)
<a name="#restrictions_use_mturk"></a>Are there restrictions or prohibited uses of Amazon Mechanical Turk?
You may not use Amazon Mechanical Turk for illegal or objectionable activities. Here are some examples of prohibited activities:
- spamming
- impermissible advertising or marketing activities
<a name="#violation_examples"></a>What are some specific examples of HITs that violate Amazon Mechanical Turk policies?
- HITs that directly or indirectly promote a site, service, or opinion
- HITs that violate the terms and conditions of an activity or website (for instance asking Workers to vote for something)
- HITs that generate "referred" site visits or click-through traffic
- HITs that ask Workers to take action to manipulate a website's behavior or results

RE: Since January 24 Open Site Explorer has not provided new data
Hi! We should have a release this Friday.

RE: What happened on the 14th of February?
Your pageviews might also be different now too. This happened to me, when I had a WP site and I had both a plugin for Google Analytics and had put the GA code in manually. I had real low bounce rates, and twice the pageviews I should have.
Be sure to make an annotation in GA to explain what happened, so someone else looking at the account knows, or two years from now it can remind you of what happened.

RE: How to get facebook likes, for a business that no one would like?
I'd look around at other Facebook pages for the same type of business. Here are a couple to get you started:
https://www.facebook.com/ulrichbarns
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Barn-Builders-Inc/111190548893280
https://www.facebook.com/artisanbarnsYou could use it as a place to showcase your recent projects, and help answer questions people may have. How does someone choose the right sized barn? What are the permits like in various areas of Colorado? What are some money-saving tips for keeping the barn warm in winter? Probably a lot of the same things you talk about on your website, but this also gives you a chance to interact with people. If you want to ask questions, I'd lean more towards things like memories of your favorite barn as a kid, what would your dream barn look like, which would you prefer -- a garage or a barn, etc.

There are sites that Google visits way more often than that. For example, you'll see Q&A questions on Moz indexed within minutes.

RE: 90% Traffic Drop...
Was there any work done to the site on that date? Could GA code have not been put on some of the pages? Could there have been duplicate codes that had been inflating the numbers that were removed? Do you have access to awstats or some other form of server log files to check for a corresponding drop there? Have your leads and sales changed?
Just want to narrow down that we are looking at a traffic drop and not a reporting issue.

RE: Text in my site is too little, what I can do to enhance the ranking?!
Hi Jim,
I'd suggest writing about each model. Not everyone can easily look at a floor plan and see what's neat about it. Is the house great for multiple generations because it has a mother-in-law apartment? Good for aging in place because there's a downstairs suite and accessibility features incorporate throughout? If this is for a builder, does the builder offer options such as turning that fourth bedroom into a library or home office? If there's a home office with a separate entrance for clients, point that out. Talk about how wonderful the kitchen is, etc.

RE: Since January 24 Open Site Explorer has not provided new data
Hi Lawrence,
We try to update OSE 1-3 times a month (we aim for a minimum of once a month, and are often able to get more frequent releases out). There was supposed to be a release yesterday, but we had issues with that index. We should have an index released in the next week, and the next one a couple of weeks after that. We really do apologize for the delay, and thank you for your patience.
-
RE: SEO Question
This is one flaw of OSE, that domains like wordpress.com, blogger.com, weebly.com, etc. have high domain authority that don't necessarily have any influence on the subdomain in the eyes of the search engines.
Also in OSE, make sure that you're only looking at links to the subdomain, not to the root domain (which would be all of weebly.com).

RE: Traffic dropped suddenly
Hello Hasit, and welcome to Moz!
This might be a tough one to diagnose without someone spending a decent amount of time looking at your site, your analytics, your backlinks, etc, but the Q&A community will do what we can to help.
First, can you give us a URL at all so we can look at the site?
When the major site redesign happened, do you know if any redirects were put into place so that people still got to the right pages if URLs changed?
Is the site verified in Google and Bing Webmaster Tools? If so, are there any notices there about any actions taken on your site, or problems crawling your site?
Your traffic has dropped, but from which sources? In your analytics, look separately at traffic from search, direct traffic, and referral traffic. Did you have some links that were bringing in good traffic, and those sites removed the links? Is the traffic down from all of the search engines, or just one search engine?
Have there been any other general changes in the marketing of the site, or in your industry as a whole? Maybe TV advertising stopped, so fewer people were looking for your site, or email newsletters stopped, or paid spend was reduced in AdWords?
-
RE: Text in my site is too little, what I can do to enhance the ranking?!
Are you prohibited from writing more text? What does the site sell / what is the goal of the site? Can you write more about the images?
-
RE: My campaigns are all missing and can't access archives
We had a DDOS attack this morning, which made things all kinds of crazy. If you're still having this problem, send a note to help@moz.com. Thanks!

RE: What is a good tool to use to create SEA reports in?
This is more towards SEO than PPC, but you might find some useful things in the blog post at http://moz.com/blog/storytelling-through-data-a-new-inbound-marketing-seo-report-structure.
If you do a search for ppc reporting template, you might find some things that will help, especially if you add excel as a search term. Here's one that's several years old, but may still be helpful. http://www.shimonsandler.com/monthly-ppc-performance-report-template/

RE: How to fix this URL?
Moz isn't able to follow Javascript. If you disable javascript, you won't be able to get past the home page on your site, and you'll never get to http://ravisharrma.com/home.html. We have some more info on that at https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-Why-Isn-t-My-Site-Being-Crawled-You-re-Not-Crawling-All-My-Pages-

RE: Tools like Followerwonk for Facebook and G+
I believe the Followerwonk team has said FB is an entirely different beast from Twitter because of all of the privacy involved, and it'd be real hard to do something similar on FB.

RE: PR2 vs Page Authority 65
I'm not assuming anything, but wanted to just make you aware of how we calculate things.
-
RE: PR2 vs Page Authority 65
Moz currently doesn't have any type of spam score when looking at the DA of a site, so that could be another factor -- Google has dropped the toolbar PR because of spam, yet we don't take that into account.
-
RE: Remove Google penalty or make a new website, Which is better??
One reason you may be getting different answers is that a good evaluation of your situation may actually take several hours to dig in and find out what is going on, the cause(s) of the problem, ideas for solutions, etc. This may be a case where it would be good to contact an expert (we have a recommended list you can find in the footer) and ask for some help. You don't necessarily need to hire them to do all of the cleanup work for you, but it'd be a great place to start from in having confidence to know what to do.

RE: Blog Networks
This question is probably best to ask in its own question, rather than appending on to this one (as it's about a year old). If you can add some more context, that'd be really helpful. Thanks!

RE: Are MOZ Analytics dashboards available for other timeframes than the week just gone?
Hi! I wanted to drop a quick note that monthly reporting is now available. Thanks for your patience!
-
RE: When will MOZ allow you to pull data by a specific date range?
We're releasing the monthly reporting right now, and it'll be available to everyone within the next couple of days.
