Off topic, but those are some fancy digs! The local church and the community center next to the library were always good enough for my Iowa relatives. I have a bunch of family that comes from Battle Creek, and more that come from Des Moines. I had to take a look and see if I've been there before, but it doesn't look familiar to me.

RE: MOZ Not Picking Up Facebook "Likes"
OSE looks at Facebook likes for your page/domain, NOT for your Facebook page on the Facebook domain. If you look at it that way, does it explain the numbers?
For example, OSE shows moz.com has having a couple of thousand likes, compared to our FB page on Facebook.com that has 151,000 likes.
-
RE: Facebook "likes" not showing up in Open Site Explorer
How many likes does your page itself have in FB? We're looking at likes of your pages/posts, not of your page on the facebook.com domain.

RE: Significant drop in traffic
Hi Federico,
Could you give us a link for this? Would be nice to be able to quote it in the future. Thanks!

RE: Spam Penalty
This is the same question as http://moz.com/community/q/pure-spam-penalty. Closing this question, and asking that people respond in the other thread.

RE: Basic skills for correcting and tweaking SEO issues
Thomas,
You've shown great enthusiasm in this reply. If you could keep to answering the actual question, however, it would really help keep the answer on topic for the original poster. Thanks!

RE: Clicking on "Filter" on "Just discovered"tab errors out
I believe we are/have deployed a fix for this. Please let me know if you're still seeing this issue. Sorry about the problem!
-
RE: How do you get this?
I don't believe this has anything to do with Wikipedia. Google has been, in some cases, showing site/folder names in place of URLs for a couple of years now. There's a post on it at http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2011/06/google-experiments-with-removing-urls.html from 2011.

RE: Shell we provide dofollow outbound links from our website?
And once your site gets out there as a place with followed links, you'll have more spam issues to deal with than you'll want.
-
RE: What does the word false or true in front of Moz keyword analysis mean?
It means there was a bug in our system that I believe was fixed last night. So sorry about this!
-
RE: Using pictures from another domain
Egol echoes what I was going to write. Would you trust someone else with a major portion of your website?
What immediately came to mind was this MySpace incident with John McCain in 2007. http://techcrunch.com/2007/03/27/john-mccains-myspace-page-hacked/

RE: How to cancel a campaign
From your Campaign Dashboard, go to Manage Campaigns. You can archive or delete campaigns from there.
-
RE: 2 sets of stats for same site
One is looking at the root domain, and one is looking at the subdomain of www. I'm sorry I don't have a link handy for you right now (not feeling the greatest), but in short it's looking at metrics pointing to domain.com versus www.domain.com

RE: Any recommended hosting company?
This is a "how long is a piece of string" question. There's just not enough information to give you an answer.
Like Justian mentioned, what are you needs? Is this going to be a static wordpress site with five pages that gets updated every two months and expects to see a hundred visits a day? Is it an ecommerce site built on a particular platform that also has a forum and is going to have 20,000 visits a day, with lots of custom scripting?

RE: Site that's 301 redirected is ranking for brand
Have you used a server header checker tool to make sure that it's a 301 redirect? Especially one that emulates googlebot, to make sure Google is seeing that 301?
-
RE: Why are organic search results vastly different on Bing, Google and Yahoo Search
The search engines generally personalize your search results, based on a number of factors -- information from if you are signed in (even to gmail), your previous search history, and your location, for just a few. Different browsers would have different histories and different accounts, which helps explain the different results. Generally, try to use an incognito window of a browser to search, to help minimize personalization.
Bing and Yahoo use the same algorithm and index, so the results there should be fairly similar. Google uses a different a algorithm and index (and tends to have more pages indexed than Bing), so its results will be different.
If you haven't yet, verify your website in Google and Bing Webmaster Tools. They will help tell you of any problems that they spot with your site.

RE: Anyone else seeing completely wrong metrics for rank tracker?
We do have a known issue (http://health.moz.com/) that rankings are missing for some accounts. We are pushing out a fix for this. I'm not sure of the timeframe for the fix, but do know that it's not you, we're the ones who have messed up and it'll be fixed soon.
-
RE: Can you adjust the timeframe from weekly to monthly in the Dashboard Overview report?
In the Dashboard Overview, there's a timeframe that says weekly. You can change that to monthly. Is that what you were looking for?
-
RE: Different steps on the funnel competing with each other on the SEPR
If you don't want the second page showing at all, exclude it in robots.txt.

RE: Can we do Citation posting for national business?
Then there is no need for citation building for your NAP, as you are not considered a local business. One thing you don't have to worry about!
-
RE: Can we do Citation posting for national business?
I'm asking for a second opinion, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Your business is virtual and people don't come to your office to do business with you, correct?
-
RE: How can I get a list of all the links going out from my website
OSE and GWT are useful for links in to the website, but not links going out from the website.
-
RE: When I type link:mydomainname.com in Google I don't see any result, why?
You still have only a small sampling with those major brands. You're probably seeing more because there are more links to sample from for the big brands.
-
RE: Affect of dissavow upload on Moz DA
Hi! Moz can't access your Google Webmaster Tools or disavow file, so you won't see a change in DA by disavowing those links. Google will know about the change, but we won't. There's another thread asking for this feature, and we're discussing internally if anything around this is feasible, but any implementation would be a ways out right now.
-
RE: How to find internal pages linking to a URL?
If you download the CSV report, it should list the referring URL.
-
RE: When I type link:mydomainname.com in Google I don't see any result, why?
The link: command has been unreliable and has underreported links for years. Google's own help says it's a sampling of links to the site (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/55281?hl=en). To see more links (though they still admit it's a sample), verify your site in Google Webmaster Tools and they will show you some more links.
-
RE: Weird 404 URL Problem - domain name being placed at end of urls
It's often an internal link that's a bit screwed up that will cause this to happen. Look for a missing colon in http:, or something like that.
-
RE: .net has replaced our .com rankings - what the heck?
That could be, as a 302 is a temporary redirect. You'll want a 301 there.

RE: Moz Staff: History + Watch List
I'm meeting with one of the Q&A project leads this afternoon, and will show them this question.
For monitoring a thread, if you click Email Updates, you can get an email each time there's a new post on the thread, without having to make a post yourself.
We don't have a way to show you which threads you've visited, but we do show you if a thread has new answers when you're browing the list of questions.
-
RE: Do interstitials hurt SEO?
This question is over three years old, and the person who made this reply is no longer a Pro member. If you have a question on a similar subject, it's probably better to start a new thread after all this time. Thanks!
-
RE: Rank Tracker - above 50
We only report the top 50, as it usually doesn't make much sense to report beyond that. Whether you're on page six or page ten, there's still not going to be too much traffic.

RE: Looking to hire an SEO/Reputation manager
This forum isn't generally used for requests for services, though it does happen on occasion. There are actually some individuals on the recommended list.
It could be that the question doesn't have enough details for people to send in a good proposal. It makes a big difference if your three branded keywords are related to a Cash For Gold site, or for three variations of a high schooler's name who is attempting to get into college and wants bad tweets pushed out of the way.
-
RE: Looking to hire an SEO/Reputation manager
A quick side question: do you realize the entire newpeakmedia.com site is blocked from indexing in robots.txt?
-
RE: Reporting social media metrics
True Social Metrics offers some free tools. Jen writes more about how we use it at Moz at http://moz.com/blog/social-engagement-metrics-that-matter.
-
RE: - Truth ? ''link building isn't considered a suitable way of promotion as per recent search engine updates''
I'd want a few more details. Most blog posts and press releases have links in them. Social bookmarking is all about links. Google has also gone against press releases just for links, as well as blog posts just for links.

RE: Link building for a non-linkable site?

RE: Any coupon codes for SMX advanced 2014 for Moz subscribers?
Yes! The code is SMXA14MOZ and it's case-sensitive.

RE: If I have a moz pro account is moz local free?
Moz Local is a standalone product, and the price doesn't change with whether or not you have a Moz Pro account.
-
RE: How to get links for boring niches/industries?
Could you interview them instead, and then pay someone to transcribe it? Talk with them, get the information in person, record it (perhaps even on a smartphone), then pay a transcription service or under-utilized staff person to transcribe and then a content person to polish it up
-
RE: How to get links for boring niches/industries?
For accounting, I think there are some big firms in the last ten years that would disagree that nothing interesting happens.
In all cases, I'd start with the person who answers the phone and answers the email inquiries. What questions do they get all the time? What information do they send out by email? How much of that can you put on the web, to both draw traffic and to ease some of the phone calls and emails you get with basic questions?
Someone can order concrete, but how much hand-holding do they need to choose which type of concrete to order? How do they know how to judge how much to order? If it's for a pathway to my front door where two people live, do I need a different mix than if it was a sidewalk at an elementary school that has 800 kids? What about permeable concrete that lets rain go through?
What size forklift do I need? What considerations do I need to take into account when ordering one? Are there some that are too high for common garages? Do I need any training to use one? What if I need one for just an hour to unload a unit of plywood, can I get the delivery person to wait while I unload so they can take the forklift back? What happens if the plywood delivery is late and you end up serving lunch to the forklift delivery person? (this paragraph is all based on personal experience!)
Those are more for content than link building, I realize. For links, perhaps a local real estate agent has a column about DIY concrete driveways and could recommend your client as a reputable company? Could they sponsor a little league team and be sure that the team has a link back? If they're a member of the BBB or trade organizations, be sure to get links.

RE: Does making a copy of website harm my SEO?
You don't want a copy of your website out there. Ask your developers to block that demo server in robots.txt, and consider putting a password on it as well just for extra security.

RE: Landing pad
Hi Cesar,
Do you mean landing pages? We don't provide the ability for you to make your own website/pages via Moz Analytics. Can you elaborate a little on what you're looking for?
Thanks!

RE: My report only says it crawled 1 page of my site.
Here's a replacement post with some of the same information at http://moz.com/help/pro/why-can-t-rogerbot-crawl-my-site. You can also send a note to the help desk at help@moz.com and we'll help you figure out what's up.

RE: Can I pre-select which citation services I want to set up with Moz local.
Not at the moment, but that is a feature request we've heard from users and we will consider adding it in the future. Thanks for your interest!

RE: Robots.txt issue for international websites
Is it showing that for every page, or only some pages? If so, which types of pages? What's the contents of your robots.txt file for the US site?
