I don't have hard data, but my understanding is that Google doesn't look at meta descriptions for rankings but they are important in helping CTR when they're shown in the SERPs.
From a user's point of view, if that's all one title tag, it looks fairly stuffed and spammy. Google has been known to show a title tag of its choosing in the SERPs if it thinks the one coded is too spammy.
When looking at duplicate content, we look at the code on the page as well as the text. If the only thing different between two pages is a couple of words, we're going to flag that as duplicate content.
The best suggestion is to write unique content that involves more than swapping out a few words.
We're accepting private questions until next Friday, and will answer all that we get. It may take a couple to a few days for a response, since everyone is trying to get in their last private question, but it's probably the best option for your right now.
We understand your frustration, and know that having to download the CSV to find the 404 errors isn't the most obvious solution. It is on our list of things to work on. We do have some upgrades coming in the future, never fear!

We have considered this. While I don't believe we have any type of solution in place right now, we have plans for a better solution in the future.
I haven't examined their technical SEO closely, but I love pinnaclepromotions.com for their usability. They also have a friendly page if you search for something they don't have (try 'pirate').
When I was looking for promotional products for a trade show, this was one of the most usable sites I found.

Keep in mind that is the toolbar pagerank of the home page. If you can get a link on www.wordpress.com that's great! But you're not going to get the same value out of brandnewsubdomain.wordpress.com.
Good reasons, and I'd also add that we could have crawled some different links as well. Be sure to look at your competitors and compare yourself to them. If everyone dropped three points with this latest index release (we had one this afternoon!) then you know it's not anything you did, but it's based on our index.
Have you verified your site in Bing's webmaster tools and looked to see if there are any messages in there for you?
Are you sure you're seeing PageRank on the Mozbar? We haven't included toolbar PR since about 2009. Are you seeing MozRank perhaps?
In addition to what Jamie said, we'd love to hear feedback about what is a good age to feature questions to help get older questions noticed, but have them recent enough that the user is still active in Q&A, still has a problem, etc.
What do people think about looking at the 50 oldest unanswered questions from the last 30 days? Or the last 60 days? Or last x many days? Any preferences?

You can actually check back in a day or two. A little bird told me we have an index update coming out very soon (keep an eye on the blog, we always post there).

It's hard to tell without more information, but I do have one idea. Perhaps the site: is including subdomains which are not included in the GWT count?
site:domain.com would turn up wiki.domain.com forum.domain.com and www.domain.com.
If GWT verifies www.domain.com, you wouldn't be seeing the wiki and forum subdomains.
Which one is higher?
Actually, there is a fair amount public from each site. Here are some of the partners that Twitter has where you can access this data (in addition to going through the API yourself) https://dev.twitter.com/programs/twitter-certified-products/products#Certified-Data-Products.
Facebook also makes available ways for a person to see and show off how many likes their page has, for example (see http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ for a plugin you can use). Here are a bunch of other things Facebook makes available through an API, either for getting data from or pushing data to Facebook.
I've seen other people talk about a dip then a bigger rise. I don't know from personal experience though, as I tend to monitor my traffic and conversions rather than rankings. How is your traffic doing?
I don't know what they use, but one tool I've used is http://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/. That tool can have false positives if there are a lot of quotation marks used in the text.
Could you ask them for even just one example of where it is said to be duplicate and investigate that?
Did you write the article, or have it written for you? Is there a chance that there is spun content involved perhaps?

I'm going through older questions and just ran across this one. I'm not sure that it's even called the one box anymore. I'm going to ask Miriam to jump in here with some tips and links for you that'll help you with what's current in local.
Google has said that the disavow tool should be the last step, after you've tried all other methods to get the link removed, rather than the first step. I'd do as Irving suggested for links that you do want to remove.
Matt Cutts says it's not something they're using right now -- it's in the patent, but they're not doing anything about it right now. Here's the video where he says it:

I'm not sure on that one. I agree that it looks like a great thing for users, and hope some other people chime in.
I cropped your photo to show just the area of interest (instead of the other browser tabs you had open, etc) because the image was being reduced too much to show what you were talking about.
So glad the API is working! And thanks for the compliments on the picture. Rudy Lopez, Jen Lopez's husband, took the picture for me. He's the one behind a lot of the pictures at SEOmoz and he does a great job.

We don't crawl from the sitemap, and actually just ignore your sitemap, so you don't need to do anything for us. We just start with the URL from your campaign and crawl based on that.
SEOmoz will crawl the site once a week. You can go to research tools and select a crawl on demand of up to 3000 URLs from a domain if you'd like a crawl sooner.
Is your website showing up if you do a search on the domain name? Is it showing up in any of the search engines? Trying to figure out here if it's an issue with it being crawled/indexed, or if it's an issue with not ranking but actually being in the index.

You can crawl up to 3,000 URLs per subdomain via our crawl test at http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test, which should help you out some.
If only we had Google's computer budget, or even their food budget, to throw into our server farm! We do realize that we can't cover everything and that for an audit you will need multiple tools. Keep in mind that Bing offers link information, even for sites you haven't verified in their Webmaster Tools.
We do try to crawl higher-quality sites and show some of the better, more meaningful links to you.

Christopher, our Q&A system sometimes is slow and multiple identical responses get posted on occasion. Heather was not trying to spam, it was our fault. We have a system upgrade coming next week that should fix this.
I have not used them, but a quick glance makes it seem like they're suggesting content from news feeds related to your subject. I imagine something you yourself could set up as well for free and a little copy/paste effort. Also, just because something showed up in Google News or on a news feed for Fox News doesn't mean it is viral content.
