We have had a few crawl hiccups lately. Some reasons why this happens are at https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-why-isn-t-my-site-being-crawled-you-re-not-crawling-all-my-pages and if that doesn't work, please do go to http://www.seomoz.org/help and open up a ticket with us.

RE: Image Asset pages shown to have Page Authority
Open Site Explorer does not report page rank. PA is Page Authority, is that what you're asking about?
-
RE: How do you build domain trust and authority ?
Are the sites relevant to your site? Will they be useful to the users of the other site? Are these links paid?

RE: Are there discrepancies between GWT and SEOMoz?
If I remember correctly, Google is doing an average of all of the pages that rank for that term. So if your privacy policy ranks in 20th position for your company name, that gets factored in. I think that's how it works, but could be wrong. It should be a place to start looking for information though.

RE: Increase number of pages crawled
Hi! I am guessing that you're referring to SEOmoz only crawling one page of your site? The list of possible reasons for that is at https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-why-isn-t-my-site-being-crawled-you-re-not-crawling-all-my-pages. If none of those are applicable, go to the help hub at http://www.seomoz.org/help and contact our help team and we'll work on figuring it out with you.

RE: Here's a hard one! Why isn't my profile picture displaying as an avatar iin forums and blogs?
Hi everyone, profile pics should display on Q&A now, effective the next time you log in. Thanks for your patience!

RE: Recovering from Programmers Error
I don't have an answer for your traffic, but I've had similar experiences with developers. I ended up using Code Monitor from Pole Position at https://polepositionweb.com/roi/codemonitor/index.php. I had it monitor the contents of the robots.txt file for the live site and all dev sites. Once a day it would check the file for any changes, and email me if there were changes, so I had a max lag time of 24 hours to be notified that the devs had done something again.

RE: Competitor Keyword Rankings
Keep in mind a site can rank for a ton of keywords that no one ever searches for. Our business ranks first in Google (above Wikipedia!) for the string [Fast Gun, Treaty, and Big Gun styles of RC model warship combat] but I can tell you nobody has ever come into my site with that exact query.

RE: Article Marketing and Penguin
Is the existing content on the site worth of links? Will it attract quality links? Depending on the quality of the content, you may have a tough time building links.
If you're able to tell a little about why the client can't put new/updated content on their site, we might be able to help brainstorm ways to convince the client that it needs to be done or compromises that can be worked out.

RE: Would having the same paragraph on every product page be bad?
Keep in mind that with an image, you're taking away from some of the accessibility of the text for anyone with a visual impairment. I don't know if the OP's target market is racing wheelchairs for people with only lower leg impairment who are in their 20s, or if the target market might be one that you should be concerned about having the site be more accessible by a screen reader.

RE: Can penalties be passed via 301 redirect?
Thanks for clarifying! It is always helpful to know whether a statement is based on personal experience/experience of others, or based off of something that Google has said in their official communications.

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for your response on this older thread! I'm interested in knowing more about your sources for this 100% claim. Could you share with us some more background about your answer?

RE: SEOMoz Tool Bar
I've never heard of that happening before. If you've had it happen, the best thing to do is contact the help desk at seomoz.org/help. What can happen is that if you're doing a bunch of complex searches, or in a location with many people on the same IP, Google can throw up the captcha at you and prevent you from searching for a bit. I've had this happen when I was going lengthy queries with several advanced operators, and have seen it often at search conferences.

RE: Usable to set up campaign because site cannot be
Thanks for answering this Ryan. This is the best thing to do in this case. Our help team will be back in the office on Monday and be able to look into your account and figure this out with you. Thanks!

If you download the CSV report, the source page will be listed there.

RE: What happened to the SEOmoz Term Extractor Tool?
Hi Brian,
We no longer have the term extractor tool, I"m sorry to say. I'm asking around for alternatives. Someone a while back mentioned Wordstream, and I've also seen people mention using Google AdWords and putting in your URL for it to look at terms.

RE: Can I combine SEOmoz Campaigns.
Agreed that the best response is to go to the help hub at http://www.seomoz.org/help and use the contact button to get in touch with our help desk, and we'll see what we can do from there.

RE: Viral content for kitchen cabinet and bathroom vanity retail sites (separate sites)
A collection of pictures of the most extreme bathrooms, the most odd things people have used for sink bowls, the longest bathroom vanity, etc. For kitchen cabinet, one thing that would be helpful is an educational page that I could refer to as I start to remodel my kitchen (we just closed on our house yesterday, so I haven't started looking yet). If you had a great page that explained all I ever needed to know about cabinets and explained all of the terms that the other sites assumed I would just know, that would be something that would last a long time.

RE: What has happened to my page rank
If your traffic, conversions, and rankings haven't changed, I wouldn't sweat losing a few green pixels on a toolbar.
-
RE: Does 301 redirect cause penalty
Diane, the OP is talking about 301 redirects of entire domains, and I believe you've been 301 redirecting missing URLs from all one domain, correct?
-
RE: What has happened to my page rank
Toolbar page rank (which is the PR that you're seeing) is only updated infrequently and doesn't necessarily reflect the internal Page Rank that Google uses. More important questions are:
Have you had any warnings or notices in Google Webmaster Tools?
Has your traffic from Google changed?
Have your conversions changed?
Have your rankings changed?

RE: Crawler has stopped crawling my website
We are having a problem with our crawling tool right now. If you could go to http://www.seomoz.org/help and click the red button on the top right to submit a ticket, that will let us know that you're having a problem and help us to track things down faster. Thanks!
-
RE: Pages Crawled: 0 ?
It does look like we're having some troubles. The best way to report a problem with the app is to contact the help desk rather than Q&A. If you could go to http://www.seomoz.org/help and click the big red "contact our help team" button at the top right, you'll be taken to a screen where you can let us know that you're having a problem. That'll help us to be able to track it down, and contact you when we have a resolution. Thanks so much!

RE: Why won't my home page rank for branded terms?
How many copies of your home page do you have? Have you run a duplicate content check with SEOmoz?
http://www.lipozene.com/?attachment_id=765
http://www.lipozene.com/?attachment_id=1129
http://www.lipozene.com/?attachment_id=1130
http://www.lipozene.com/All are copies of your home page. That might be one problem there.

RE: Does PR 7, PR 8, PR 9 links help really?
Or if the website has notes saying to contact them to advertise or buy links, or if they're part of a network with a footprint that's easy to detect (do a search for 'build my rank'), etc. Any number of ways.

RE: Keyword Difficulty Tool not working?
Hi everyone!
We're sorry for the problems here, and we're looking into it now. We also discovered that our handy new Help Hub page does mention our help desk hours of 7am to 5pm Pacific Time, but we forgot to put that it's just Monday through Friday. We are often around on the weekends to respond to things, but not as fast as on a weekday, and we apologize. We'll also be updating the help hub real soon so our hours are more clear. Thanks for your patience!
Keri Morgret
[edited to make clear the hours are for the help desk]

Hi Fiona,
I'm following up on older questions. Did these two answers help you, or are you looking for some more feedback still?

RE: Franky hope you like instructions on how to seo image below
It looks like it's part of a local result to me. I'll have our local expert come in and make a couple of comments, but that's at least where to start looking for more information.

RE: Google doesn't rank the best page of our content for keywords. How to fix that?
Rand wrote a post about this at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/wrong-page-ranking-in-the-results-6-common-causes-5-solutions that may help you out.

RE: Half of my backlinks just disappeared!
You've got the right approach there. We do our best to look at the web like Google does, but we don't have quite the resources they do. We do have to make tradeoffs between getting an index out in a more timely manner and getting one out that has a lot of data. The bigger we go, the more problems we run in to. This last index was about half the size of the previous index, which would account for much of that drop. So sorry to scare you!

RE: Here's a hard one! Why isn't my profile picture displaying as an avatar iin forums and blogs?
It is a known bug that profile pictures aren't showing up in Q&A, and we're working on it.
Roberto, the profile page doesn't show Q&A questions, but it should show when you've commented on a blog post. Let me know if this isn't the case for you.
