No, the tracking links shouldn't affect duplicate content issue. Google understands these variables especially well and won't take them to mean that they are separate pages.

In any case, I recommend adding a canonical tag to the final landing pages (www.domain.co.uk/area-covered/area-a & www.domain.co.uk/area-covered/area-b) so that any variation of the url gets indexed as the final urls.

DA = Moz. Much slower crawl rate and index updates so DA will take longer to update. Not to mention you only have 1 backlink in OSE so you really shouldn't be worried about DA. Your 301 redirects seem fine so everything should go smoothly. What more important is what your organic traffic is looking like.

I would noindex the categories or clean them up + optimize them... seems like most categories only have 1 post and the categories have more internal backlinks than the posts.

I would combine categories by brand or something and add a unique paragraph of text to the top with phrase(s) you want to rank for. Alternative is to noindex the categories which should help your posts rank - less duplicate content.

Canonicals should be enough but Google does mess up and the more clues you can give them, the better.

You can also manually tell Google parameter meanings (if you check out your parameter page now in search console, you should see all of the parameters they've detected for you - you can just change their meaning).

I don't see any harm in disallowing parameters via robots.txt. They will still be crawled and internal links followed, just not indexed in serps.

You should use the hreflang tag to tell google that each of these sites are the same pages but should be presented to users in different locations.

So you would have en-uk, en-us, en-au, etc.

If you implement those tags, you should be fine, If not, google will pick up on it as duplicate content.

Don't think its a red flag, just not getting the maximum benefit from having all of those images.

My guess is that Google doesn't have enough clues as to what the images are and treating them all as the same. All of them have the same alt text ("View Slideshow"), image file names are just numbers & surrounding text is the same for each listing.

I recommend optimizing your images (e.g. on http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/listings/347-varick-st-office-lease-2267sf image filenames would be 181-varick-st-nyc-office-rental-1.jpg and have alt text = Commercial Office Space Rental at 181 Varick St NYC)

P.S. Why does URL say 347 Varick st yet page description say 181 Varick st?

Go for it - should be fine. Google will deindex the other location (if it hasn't already) and yours will be the only version up.

Your sites wont get indexed because they are all exact duplicates of one another. Hence, Google indexes the .com but not the others.

What you need to do is link all of the websites up with a hreflang tag... this tells google that all 3 of these sites are the same, except you should display the correct domain depending on where the searcher is from.

Did you delete the pages that linked to 404s or remove the links to those 404s?

Google will recrawl your site and pick up on the missing pages and remove from their index. However, you should make sure that you remove all links pointing to those pages first!

In this scenario, I would set up mod_rewrite to create "Category" page for each specific model so you can rank for more pages.

e.g /model/Honda-Civic-Coupe/ would be a static page and you can canonical all of the other filters to their respective pages.

Hard to give answer without seeing the site... ideally, you don't use canonicals or noindex and instead have 1 page per product.

1. Canonical is better overall i'd say - as long as the two pages you are merging are (almost) identical

2. keep the follow, doesn't hurt and only boosts pages it links to

3. Again, tough to understand but sounds like you should use canonical (pagination basically "merges" the paginated pages into 1 long one so to speak, so if you have the same content over and over again, best to canonical)

Yes, having social bookmarking as your only strategy will not yield great results (probably just waste your time) but doing it as part of a larger promotional strategy helps you get a boost in rankings + is viewed by member of those bookmark sites. You get found by more people quicker which helps the promotion > engagement > rankings cycle start. (e.g. if you rank page 1 for one of your services, you are more likely to be found and link to/talked about.

Youtube videos are more likely to rank by themselves in SERPs with the video thumbnail. It is very difficult to accomplish on your own website.

Even still, if the videos are highly shareable, I'd keep it on the site so that you get the links (and not youtube). I recommend testing out both scenarios and see which works better (place a video on the site + upload the video to youtube w/ tweaked description and see which gives you more results).

It can be a part of your promotional strategy but shouldn't be the only piece (because you won't see many results). Social bookmarking sites have been a target for blackhat spam so their links have been devalued significantly by search engines. On the flip side, if you have a great product/service/article that people one these networks would want to see, I see no problem with promoting it through all of the channels.

There are thousands of social bookmarking sites but OnlyWire submits to the top ones so there is little risk in terms of getting penalized.

Sure, it could match the search term and move around to display in serps but it won't help with ranking. The other downside is now instead of a complete message (which is the goal of a meta desc), you are letting G decide what parts to show and may not get your message across as you would like.

Ideal scenario is using the keywords within the max meta description length. No harm in going over, just not the best case scenario.

In that case, I would ask the hospital.org to canonical to the new site, not redirect.

Recently had a similar case but in reverse... microsite was ranking really well for a term that they wanted ranking for their main website. We set up canonicals from microsite to main site and the main site started ranking for the term within a week.

What is your goal here? What is on the businessname.com? What is in hospital.com/businessname/?

Off the bat, I think canonicals will be involved.

1. If you want to deindex all PDF files, I recommend using the x-robots-tag in .htaccess - https://yoast.com/x-robots-tag-play/

2. If the PDFs are pdf versions of existing pages, I would set canonicals to point to the URL you do want indexed (#2 on http://moz.com/blog/htaccess-file-snippets-for-seos )

This ^. Also, are the meta descriptions unique for each page? If they are the same, they would probably be ignored.

To add to what the other's have said... EMD's work better for churn and burn/ranking for a single keyword. If you plan on building a online brand/long term website, use a more branded domain (unless the EMD is real sexy).

Might interfere in the beginning but once you send enough brand signals to the domain, it will be picked up as a totally separate entity (especially since it isn't electronics related).

very bad. you are better off not using the hreflang tag at all then... you'll just be confusing search engines.

www.example.ca/testing.html should have:

301 signals to search engines "hey, this page has permanently moved to this new location so whatever signals you had for this page, send over to the new location and ignore any content on the old url"

So be sure to set your 301 redirects at the server level (via htaccess on Linux or via IIS on Windows servers) if you plan on deleting the page. I know yoast SEO plugin has an option to redirect to another page in their settings for the post/page (in this scenario, you wouldn't delete the post/page).

Yes, you should 301 redirect to the new pages. Otherwise, you will lose all of the authority you built to your old pages.

Even though the page is private, Google will continue still visit the link from any links on the web/history of crawling.

Its 1000 images per page. So you can have a sitemap with 50k urls and up to 1k images for each url.

Easiest way is to incorporate the images into the URL sitemap.

Is it worth it? If you have many images that are well optimized for specific target keywords, then yes. You can drive a lot of traffic from image search when optimized properly.

I don't think the SEO plugin will assist with that but there are a number of plugins that will help. I recommend https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/

Sitemap should contain every link that you want indexed and ranking in search engines.

So the more specific a sitemap can be (actual articles vs just the categories), the better.

Are you sure? On https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6033080?hl=en&ref_topic=6033084 it says: "No need to submit a change of address if you are only moving your site from HTTP to HTTPS."

I dont think you are given the option to select the same domain for change of address in GWT.

Looks like you are doing everything right (set up 301 redirects, updated all links on the site, updated canonical urls) - just need to force the crawlers to parse those pages more. perhaps crawler is hitting its budget before it gets to recrawl all of your new urls?

You should also update your sitemap as it contains a bunch of links that look like: https://www.gomme-auto.it:443/pneumatici/estivi/pirelli/cinturato-p1-verde/145/65/15/h/72

I recommend creating several sitemaps for different sections of the site and seeing how they are indexed via GWT.

The plugin doesn't affect any H1 tags at all.

I'm guessing that you are inputting the SEO title into the wrong section. Name you post whatever you want regularly (this will be your H1), then scroll down to the Yoast section and change the field called SEO Title (which will only change your title tag).

If its doing something else, then the problem is with your theme.

Without looking too deep into it, the authority is most likely coming from the domain level, not the subdomain.

So the majority of the authority would only be passed if your particular page was linked to from their domain. If they can link to/301 redirect to your new domain, that would pass most of the authority.

Use your own domain and start building authority to it.

Reasons:

1 - Its your site. If you decide to leave remax and create your own dedicated RE website, you would be off to a great start

2 - Much prettier/professional URL for marketing in both online/offline marketing initiatives

3 - If the old domain 301 redirects to the new domain, all that authority will pass over

Keep the hreflang tags but add your own layer of verification.

Look up the visitor of the country and redirect to the proper version of the site.

Google looks at hreflang as guidelines and sometimes doesn't follow it perfectly.
