I am in the photography and wedding industry going for local keywords and it is super hard to get quality links from anybody, because they are all my competitors. I am on the first page for a few of my keywords, but I am getting tired of being at #7 and want to get to #1 ethically.

Guide on how to transition you Google places listing to Google plus Places
I was wondering if anyone had a guide on how to transition your existing Google Places listing to the Google Plus local. I have a Google plus places listing for my business already and don't want to loose my reviews on my Google Local listing.

RE: 301 Redirect Questions
So if I do a 301 redirect with the new host do I have to take all the files from Intuit and host them with the new host or can I just transfer the domain name and do a 301 without transferring the files? Never had to deal with this before.
Both sites are on the first page for most of my keywords so I am good there.

RE: 301 Redirect Questions
The site is hosted by Intuit. I called yesterday and they said that because of the language it is written in it isn't possible to do a 301.

301 Redirect Questions
I have a site I built on a wisiwig editing platform that will not allow a 301 redirect. The site has already been remade and I need to point it to another domain.
To do the redirect, can I change it to another domain host that will allow a 301 or will that make me loose the authority of the site? I may not be able to move the content of the site.
Please help.

RE: Is this a google dance?
Marie, I totally agree with you I have a site I am working on that keeps going from 2 to 7 then to 3 then to 7. It is hard to know what is working and what isn't and if it is working at all. I guess I will just sit tight for a while.
I agree, just keep making good content and you can't loose.

RE: Link from Dmoz.org
Dmoz is great if you can ever get them to take your listing. I have 5 different sites I have submitted to Dmoz one of them 4 times and have not got one of them listed yet over many years. I have even read their specific directions for submitting very carefully with no luck. Also, all of my pages are on the first page for my respective keywords, most at #1 so my sites are of authority, Dmoz editors are just lazy. Submit once then don't worry about it unless you know an editor who can get you listed.
Also, if anyone else knows a full proof way to get listed by Dmoz, I would love to hear your helpful insight.

Best way to get more keywords to rank
I have a flash site and have been very successful at getting my keywords that are in my site title and also in the text of my page to rank well. What is the best way to get additional keywords to rank without increasing the text on your page.
Is it just getting more anchor-text backlinks pointing your site with the new keywords in the text?

RE: No Follow Blogs. Do they help with keyword density?
I definitely wouldn't guarantee blog commenting won't get you high rankings if you comment on quality do follow pages related to your niche. I have multiple sites that have first page rankings, some #1's with a great deal of blog comments. Not a practice I recommend as a full fledged strategy, but it is helping pages and rankings. As long as your comments are not spam and contribute to the conversation constructively they are definitely worth the time and you learn more about your industry along the way.

No Follow Blogs. Do they help with keyword density?
I know no follow blogs don't pass page rank or link juice, but do they aid in help with making your site know for a specific keyword when you use anchor text?

RE: How would you Oustsource Link Building if your budget is $200?
Ryan, I know this is an old post, but I think you may be able to answer a question I have about distributing content. I know that no matter how good your content is if nobody can find it, it's worthless. What is your recommendation for content distribution. I am currently using social sites (facebook etc) but those don't provide do follow links. What kind of content distribution services do you use or recommend?
Should I use article sites like Ezine Articles, and if so is there a cap on how many I should submit to for affective distribution?
Thanks for the help.

First 100 links for every new site?
Is there a rule of thumb I am unaware of or a place that others start to get links for every new site they create, something like the "first 100 links for every new site" regardless of content?
I know you always start building links around what the content of your site is about, but does anyone have a rule of thumb that you always start with links from certain sites regardless of the site content. For example for a local company: Google Places, Bing Local, Linkedin, Facebook, Localeze etc. etc.
I just want to make sure I am taking quality first steps for every site I start and was wondering if anyone could give me some good rules of thumb or resources.

RE: Using a Social Media Infrastructure
It is really just a way to distribute your blog content to social media networks you have been neglecting or you aren't currently feeding content to on a regular basis. Because i work with photographers, it does help the bottom line, because as we gain followers we generate more clients. Is it a magic solution, no. Was it worth the time to implement, yes.

Using a Social Media Infrastructure
I just wanted to share a technique I have had a great deal of success with called a Social Media Infrastructure. It has really increased the amount of followers on all of the social media sites I have been using.
The first link explains a Social Media Infrastructure and the second link is somebody using the social media infrastructure whom has implemented the technique much better.
http://kylelacy.com/social-media-seo-social-media-infrastructure/
It does take some time to get all set up correctly, but it has increased my followers a ton. I am not going to claim that it gives you all the links and as much SEO benefit as they claim, but it does give your social media some muscle.

RE: Need ideas to get do follow links from highly competative niche "wedding"
Do you think the best idea is to contact those on page 2 and 3 with quality sites and content, to band together to overtake those on page 1. Just trying to make sure i understand you correctly.

RE: Need ideas to get do follow links from highly competative niche "wedding"
Great idea. I currently need to focus on the site that needs some search engine love right now though. I will use your guide idea in my content creation.

I like the idea on statistics posts. I really like to create content and do about 3-5 blog posts per week then feed them to social media which has been helping.

Need ideas to get do follow links from highly competative niche "wedding"
I need to get high quality do-follow links and my target market/keyword is ‘Maui wedding’ and a few others. Because it is such a competitive market I am having a hard time getting links from local companies providing Maui Weddings (I know why because they are my competitors) and national companies sites aren't much help because they are trying to provide leads to their advertisers. I would like do-follow links from non-paid sources any ideas or resources you could help with would be much appreciated. Thanks.
