This is true. The average site will lose 6.1% as the new model "re-centers" Domain Authority. Thus, if you drop just 2 or 3 points, you really have nothing to worry about.

However, there are some industries which will be hit very hard - like link networks and link sellers. These sites can expect to see enormous drops in DA.

My guess is that Google is getting better and better at detecting false review data. There is a lot of academic research around this area, particularly in accounting fraud, where patterns created by humans to appear random do a poor job of actually representing standard data. A popular example of this is called Benford's Law where leading digits of certain data sets (like electricity bills) are more likely to be lower digits (starting with the number 1, for example). When people try and fake the data, they don't tend to follow this law.

Google has huge data sets on validated reviews and known-fraudulent reviews. If there is a way to detect unbelievable reviews, you got to believe Google is working on it.

That being said, this is probably the best reason not to start posting fake reviews... it's illegal.

The appropriate solution in this place would be to employ the hreflang tag to related the two geographically separate sites together. However, before you take that step, I would look to make sure the previous SEO company which created the .com did not point any harmful links at the .com domain which would make it inadvisable to connect the two sites together. Use OpenSiteExplorer to look at the backlink profile and use Google Webmaster Tools to authorize the .com site and look for any manual penalty notices. If all looks clear, go ahead forward with the implementation of the hreflang tag.

I can comment on Search Volume. You are right, at present the system only shows US volume data. But, any day now we should be rolling out locale-specific volumes!

I second the responses of those above related to increasing your brand. The strongest evidence of this weakness is that your domain, zotey.com, does not rank #1 for the keyword zotey. It appears that you sell testing supplies and list a number of "partners". Do those partners link to your website? Is there any way to reach out to them and solicit a link?

This is default behavior and you should keep it. It won't harm your rankings at all. I am not sure where the redirect is occurring in your install, but I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Unfortunately, we will not be including any kind of disavow. First, to be clear, spam score is not based on links but based on on-site factors. The way spam score influences your DA is getting links from lots of bad spam score sites, not your own spam score.

That being said, we can't offer a disavow because we can't confirm that Google has the same disavow. Otherwise, it would make it very easy for individuals to manipulate their Domain Authority.

However, as for negative SEO, our model DOES NOT use penalization. It learns what patterns of links correlate with rankings, nothing more, nothing less. Thus, negative SEO will only impact your DA insofar as it impacts your rankings.

Do the redirects point to the homepage or to the current URL? For example, does the http://myolddomain.com/styless.asp?jordan-12-taxi-kids-cheap-T8927.html redirect to http://newsite.com or http://newsite.com/styless.asp?jordan-12-taxi-kids-cheap-T8927.html

If it does redirect to the same URL on newsite.com, I would try using wildcard robots.txt entries to simply block the offending content altogether. For example, if all the spam is off the styless.asp page, you could simply block styless.asp?* in your robots.txt and prevent Google from ever crawling those spammy links.

However, if you are redirecting everything to the homepage, I think you will need to go back to the old webmaster and figure something out. While Google is great at detecting spam, once you are under a penalty it can be difficult to recover. No one is perfect, including Google, and you don't want to be one of their "mistakes".

I believe you might be able to use List Mode in ScreamingFrog to accomplish this, however it depends on ultimately what your goal is to check for duplicate content. Do you simply want to find duplicate titles or duplicate descriptions? Or do you want to find pages with sufficiently similar text as to warrant concern?

It didn't occur to me that you were more interested in duplicate content caused by other sites copying your content rather than duplicate content among your list of URLs.

Copyscape does have a "Batch Process" tool but it is only available to paid subscribers. It does work quite nicely though.
