The Spam Score isn't entirely dependent on backlinks. We also calculate this score by analysing your site itself (the URL that you enter into Open Site Explorer) You can click directly on the Spam Score from within Open Site Explorer, and you'll see a list of reasons we've assigned a site a particular score - for instance with https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/spam-analysis/flags?subdomain=truckcare.com, you'll see some of the markers are 'Thin Content', 'Low Number of Pages Found', and 'No Contact Info'.

The general rule we have at Moz is that you shouldn't be concerned about anything that has a spam score under 8. Additionally, just because our tool has assigned a site a specific spam score does not mean it is impacting the site in any way. These are merely suggestions of things you might want to check out. If you haven't determined yourself that they are spammy links, then there is no action or further concern required on your part - looking into backlinks from sites with spam scores of 8 or higher would definitely be a good idea, just to ensure that you aren't being linked to from a site that is actually spammy.

To be fully transparent, our Spam Score metrics haven't been updated in some time, so they're not fully current. If you've made progress towards reducing the links from spammy sites going to your site in recent weeks and months, this likely will not be reflected in Open Site Explorer until our Spam Scores update. (Unfortunately, I don't have an ETA on when that will be - sorry about that!).

So, it's entirely possible that Google is no longer penalizing these sites and that they're not considered spammy by Google any longer. I know that makes our Spam Analysis tool not super helpful, since it isn't up to date, but I hope this helps to explain why you're still seeing those spam scores.

Unlike the rest of the metrics available in Open Site Explorer, the Spam Score doesn't update each month with the rest of the index update. The Spam Analysis section updates on a completely separate schedule, and much less frequently; usually around every 6 months or so. So it's entirely possible that you're seeing Spam flags that are no longer relevant to your site.

It's always best to trust your instincts: for example, if you know you've got contact info on the site, and we're flagging you for it being missing, you can safely ignore that warning.

So, the thing about the way we gather our rankings data is that we don't exactly 'assign' a keyword to a URL in the way you've mentioned. There is no way to change this keyword manually.

When we collect rankings data, we pull this directly from the SERPS, and display the precise rank, and specific URL, for any keywords ranking in the top 50 SERP results. If that keyword is appearing associated with that URL in your campaign, it means that this is how it's displaying within the SERP results - that URL is the one that "np - /google-structured-data-update/" is ranking for.

It's possible that Google hasn't registered the canonical tag for some reason - though, we Helpsters are not SEO consultants and are only here for Moz tool support, so there may be someone in the community here who can weigh on on what might be happening, or you could reach out to your own SEO consultant about this.

Unfortunately, this would be a result of our crawler's inability to work with Javascript. If your site is primarily Javascript, then the data you get back with regards to the crawl report won't be completely accurate because of this. There's no real work around that I can recommend for this one, since it is a technical limitation, but I did find some good blog posts and discussions in the Q&A about this when I searched our Help Hub. While the tools and data that rely on our crawl of your site may not return the best results because of that Javascript, your keyword rankings and link profile should work just fine.

You might also want to check out a few tools that are compatible with Javascript, like Botify or Screaming Frog.

Essentially, Spam Score is an aggregate of 17 different flags we set up to identify traits that correlate with measured Google penalization. The higher the number of flags on a link, the higher the chance that it's spammy.

The flags represent a wide variety of potential signals ranging from content concerns to low authority metrics. Since this is just based on correlation with penalization, rather than causation, the solution isn't necessarily to change these factors on your site, but it could be worthwhile to consider them.

Since the Spam Score isn't updated quite as often as other metrics, if you've seen a flag and determined that it is irrelevant after looking at your site, I'd say it's safe to move forward this way:).

One is that when you head to https://residentiallandlord.com/, the first thing seen is this pop up http://www.screencast.com/t/H2VuSaptQ - things like this prevent us from crawling/indexing site data as we can't move past those sorts of pop ups.

Another thing that could be causing us some trouble is the amount of Javascript on your site - f your site is primarily Javascript, then the data you get back in terms of Links/Crawls may not be entirely accurate because of this.

You can absolutely download your current list of keywords to a CSV - all you would need to do is head to your specific campaign, and over to the 'Rankings' tab. Scroll down, and just above 'Tracked Keywords Overview' to the right you'll see a little 'CSV' button:).

Yes, this could absolutely be the case! Given that the Spam Score is generally only updated around every six months or so, I would take the results you're seeing with a grain of salt. It's still good to look at the flags to see if any might be relevant but if you've determined that they're not, I wouldn't worry. The Spam Score is really just a guide to help you to adjust your site to be as good as it possibly can be - it doesn't necessarily mean there is anything you need to change.

Sam from Moz's Help Team here! I took a look at your Site Crawl results and your site, and I believe this is a result of our crawler's inability to work with Javascript.  Any client side loaded content will not be rendered to our crawler as we are only seeing what is rendered by your server.

Our crawler works by parsing the source code of your site, looking at HTML elements.  If your site is primarily Javascript, then the data you get back with regards to the crawl report won't be completely accurate because of this. This data is updated much more often, you're right! About once a month actually - you can see our most recently updated schedule here as well as some more technical metrics on our Mozscape API Updates page. You can also see when the last and next updates happened on the Open Site Explorer (OSE) homepage at any time.

Just a few points on how we compile our index:

• We grab the most recent index.
• We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
• We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled ~130 billion URLs

The idea here is that we're focusing on the highest-quality links we can find, coming from the most prominent pages of authoritative sites. So, while you may not see every link for a site within our index, we're aiming to report the most valuable ones available.

Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for many reasons - including the crawl-ability of sites, the number of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories (so, given how new your site is, I wouldn't worry too much just yet - just remember to focus on consistent/quality link building so that we're pointed to your site during our indexing process).

When we collect this data, we’re looking specifically for the most valuable links and, rather than crawling your entire site or every site, we collect this by starting our crawler on a few highest ranking sites and letting it perform a breadth first search to see what it finds.

For each page that we crawl, we first collect each of it’s links before following these and collecting the details of each page that these link to and so on. There’s a set limit of links that we’ll crawl per page and pages that we’ll crawl per site so it’s expected that we may not follow every link on your site this way (so we won't always find all available links internally or externally).

Generally, we recommend using a wide variety of backlink tools to get the most illustrative picture of how your site's backlink profile looks. OSE and Ahrefs index differently and have different purposes. Ahrefs is good for quantity while OSE is great for finding higher quality links. Domain Authority is our own proprietary metric that is closely correlated to Google rankings, so our customers often use OSE to research influential sites to build links.

The best workaround I could offer would be to export the full CSV of anchor text, and then to sort within the CSV directly for 'get free high quality hd wallpapers'.

So, a couple of things - when you disavow a link through Google, it doesn't actually remove the link, Google just stops putting SEO weight into it. So our crawler will still find the link. Unfortunately there isn't a way in Link Explorer to "disavow" a link yet so we will still show it.

Disavowing a link doesn't take it away from our tools, so they will still appear as backlinks to your site. The fact that Google disregards them in relation to your site does not take them off the sites they are on, so best practice is to approach the webmaster first and request the link be removed. If you get no response then disavow with Google:).

I also want to note a couple of things about your DA drop in general - overall, seeing your DA drop is a fairly common problem and can be attributed to a few things:

1.Links we previously discovered are now marked as lost.
2. You've earned more links, but the highest authority sites have grown their link profile even more.
3. The links you've earned are from sites that we haven't seen correlate well with higher Google rankings.
4. We've done a better or worse job crawling sites/pages that have links to you (or don't).

It's a bit difficult to isolate the exact cause of what happened without your own SEO consultant or developer being able to take a dive into this, but you can definitely read more specific information here if you'd like to understand more about the process:).

Something else to note is that on March 5th, we rolled out an entirely new DA calculation method, which affected the DA of many sites. You can read more about this update here https://moz.com/domain-authority-2.0.

No, the Google+ page that you link to within the Moz Listing won't necessarily sync with Moz Local.

Is the problem that we aren't locating the Google page in general via the Check Listing tool, or that we seem unable to sync from the Google My Business tab on the left hand side of your Moz Local dashboard?

If it's the first option, here's a list of the criteria for the sources that will enable us to validate your listing:

• The name, address, and phone number (NAP) listed on the page must be an exact match with the listing in Moz Local.
• The primary phone number listed must be a unique local number or a toll-free number.
• The business must not be listed as a “service area business”. A service area business displays with the street address being hidden, as well as the listing not being surfaced through the Google Places API (which is where we pull the listing details from).
• The listing must be verified by postcard. As a note, it may take a couple days after the postcard verification process for the listing to be available through the Google Places API.
• The listing must be completely searchable through Google Maps, with the full NAP listed correctly.

Sorry about the trouble there - so, the thing to keep in mind here is that we do take 301 redirects into account in terms of our index updates, but for us to update any 301 link, we would need to re-discover the old pages to be able to follow and update the metrics. This is not likely common for sites with lower authority since old links are not continuously shared on new pages/articles/blogs.

Link Explorer works solely through link discovery and crawling. For every link we index/crawl, these links are not guaranteed to be re-crawled.  In order for our crawler to update metrics to reflect the new domain, it would need to recrawl the pages linking to your site and discover the links which redirect.

The discrepancies between the DA or PA of your old domain and new domain are probably due to the previously externally discovered links that haven't moved over just or haven’t been discovered. I hope this helps to explain - definitely let me know if you have any follow up questions!

So it looks like there are a couple of problems here - one is that Javascript is used on the page, and if the link follows the Javascript (which we aren't compatible with), this might be tripping us up. That said, it's more likely the formatting of the link that is preventing us from reading it accurately: http://www.screencast.com/t/6qP2w8WDoWY - it looks to be more like some kind of email redirect rather than a typical link, so in this case, it looks like an issue primarily with the formatting of the link in general that's preventing us from picking it up as a follow/no follow.

So the thing is, for us to update any 301 link, we would need to re-discover the old pages to be able to follow and update the metrics.

As our index continues to grow and links are rediscovered, links which have changed should be marked as “lost” for the original domain and “discovered” for the new domain. In order for our crawler to update metrics to reflect the new domain, it would need to recrawl the pages linking to your site and discover the links which redirect.

The discrepancies between the DA of your old domain and new domain are probably due to the previously externally discovered links that haven't moved over just or haven’t been discovered. I hope this helps to explain - definitely let me know if you have any follow up questions!

Top Pages is simply counting up the links we found to you, to show the most frequently used URLs, so it looks like in your case that includes some image URLs. There are a few other threads I found that discuss this which may be helpful for you:

So, in terms of the scores overall - we don't do a very good job of explaining what success looks like with Moz Local, and I apologize for the lack of clarity. When a particular location's Listing & Accuracy scores are sitting above 85%, that location's consistency is incredibly strong! The difference between an Accuracy score of, say, 94 and 100 is basically an imperceptible increase in terms of the SEO benefit. Now the difference between 65 versus 85 has a colossal impact, undoubtably, but scores going above 85% are _slam dunking _on their Local listing consistency already. In those cases, making it up to 100 would have little added effect.

Regarding the ranking - the thing to note here is that it is not only listing accuracy that has an impact. So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more.

If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index.

You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages.

Sorry for the confusion! The "Check Listing" tool is populated with all of the various NAP (name/address/phone) matches that we could find out on the web among all of the different directories that we report on.

So, while we can't amend that list directly, the process of submitting your accurate business information to each of these directories will inherently work to consolidate the list. Additionally, going through the "Duplicates" section of a listing and closing extraneous listings can also aid this effort!

When selecting a listing to purchase, you'll want to start with the most correct "Verified" listing available; those are the ones whose information is being pulled directly from a verified Facebook Places or Google Maps page. From there, you'll begin correcting and assimilating listings to that chosen set of correct NAP info. Seeing multiple "verified" sources will indicate multiple Google/Facebook listings, which you would have to close or remove directly so you have one result for each service. This is where we "import" your NAP data from to submit to our data partners.

After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more.

If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index.
