Splitting an expression or not ?
Hello,
I am wondering if to write and rank I should slipt my expression.
Example : "Alsace bike tour ", should I write a paragraph with keywords that match "Alsace" and then a paragraph with keywords related to "bike tours" or should I write something with keywords related to "alsace bike tour"
I imagine that when it is something that exist I don't need to split it for example " la loire velo" because it is a network of bike path in the Loire valley but for other things like above I do need to split it ?
An input on that would be great.
Thank you,

RE: Difference keyword tool and related topics
Hello Russ,
I have another question concerning content suggestions. If I get it right the content suggestions are "topic" that I should cover in my content. Let's take the keyword "Dordogne family bike tour" (one of my keywords). Moz content suggestions tell me the I covered Rocamadour. However, I also have Sarlat in my text but apparently content suggestion doesn't say I covered it ...
Why ? I have an idea !
I believe that in order to cover a " topic" you need what I would call "indicator words" that are part of the same semantic group as the "topic" I am trying to cover correct ?
For the world "Sarlat" it seems that I don't have any words related to "Sarlat", whereas I have words related to Rocamadour. Is it correct ?
How do I know which words are semantically connected to Rocamadour ? How do I know if it is the word, hilltop village, pilgrimage destination, Chapelle Notre dame, the Black Madonnna status , all of those words or other words that triggered the fact that Rocamadour is covered ?
Finally, does or do the words that trigger need to be in the same sentence, same paragraph or anywhere on the webpage is ok ?
Thank you,

RE: Co-occurence and semantic cluster
Ok I will try Yoast.
By the way I noticed some software surf 100 of pages to find the words whereas Moz limits itself in its content suggestions to the 1 st 20 results. Why is that ? is it because after the 2 nd page the words are totally off topic ?
Thank you,
-
RE: Co-occurence and semantic cluster
Thank you that is very helpful.
Now is there a toll that can tell me how many times I need to have a certain word ?
-
Co-occurence and semantic cluster
How do you find phrases that co-occur together and go in the same cluster.
I know that I can do keyword research via the keyword tool as well as other tools and even google related searches but I have the feeling it is very limited. Does anyone have any other advice or tools ?
Once you figure our the correct words / expression is there a way to write your sentences, does syntax have an impact ?

RE: How to rank a transactional query
Thank you for the detailed reply. I will start working on my value proposition and move on from there.
By the way what is the difference between a value proposition a topic sentence with a supporting sentence ?
-
RE: How to rank a transactional query
Is a great title tag the same as a great value proposition ? I have a hard time figuring out what a good one would be because in my industry everyone is terrible ... Either they have synonyms : Bike tours in France / Cycling vacations in France or they use words like Best Bike tours in France but honestly this doesn't want to make me click at all (but they still rank). Is it because they have a value proposition which isn't in their title tag but somewhere else on the page ?
If I come up with a good title that make people want to click, is google going to boost me even though this isn't something that people have in their head when the do a search for "bike tours France " ?
Concerning the content, all of us doing bike tours in France have the same thing, a list of different tours by destination. It is very hard to differentiate myself on this. Is I had something that nobody has on their page can it help me ? or to help me does it need to be something people have in their head or are looking for ?
Thank you,
-
How to rank a transactional query
I have a webpage about bike tours in France with a list of bike tours in France. I imagaine people don't want a big paragraph about what a bike tour in France is because this is a transactional query and not an informational query.
How do I go about ranking this page ?
Would a good title tag and good description be enough to rank that page ?
Thank you,

Structuring sentences after keyword research
Hello,
Once I have done your keyword research is there way to write other than "naturally" which is what everyone says ? Could someone explain what they mean by naturally. For example let's say my keyword is Piedmont bike tour, some of the words I find through my research are cycle, routes, piedmont, barolo, wine etc...
Is there a way to integrate those so that google understands what I mean. I imagine that google parses sentences for s reason and imagine that if I only sprinkle those words like in the sentence below it won't work.
Piedmont bike tour, cycle, routes, piedmont, barolo, wine all this is cool !
Thank you,

Can bad html code hurt your website from ranking ?
Hello,For example if I search for “ Bike Tours in France” I am looking for a page with a list of tours in France.Does it mean that if my html doesn’t have list * in the code but only that apparently doesn’t have any semantic meaning for a search engine my page won’t rank because of that ?Example on this page : https://bit.ly/2C6hGUn According to W3schools: "A semantic element clearly describes its meaning to both the browser and the developer. Examples of non-semantic elements: <div> and - Tells nothing about its content. Examples of semanticelements:
<form>, , and- Clearly defines its content."Has anyone any experience with something similar ?Thank you, </form>

Can a Swiss mailing address hurt my ranking in the USA
Hello,
I have a US phone number on my website because all my clients are in the USA but a Swiss address on my website because I am based in Switzerland. I also registered my website on google my business with a Swiss address. I noticed that I rank fairly well (on the 1 st page for many keywords in Switzerland when searching from my location (Switzerland) on google.com but when I connect to adwords (choosing USA) or with a proxy in the USA to check my ranking I see myself nowhere on the 1 st page. Why is that ? is it because I have a Swiss address ?Is the fact that I have a Swiss address and I am based in Switzerland hurt my ranking in the USA ?Thank you,

Google is a definition engine / Question answering engine
But what do you do to rank when you sell a product and people don't have questions and none of the companies that rank on your keywords answers questions...
Let me give you a few example.
Title tag for example :
People want to know what is it and then have question about it
What is the maximum number of characters ?
How do you write a good one ?
Etc...
How to remove stains is another example :
Please want to know how to remove all the different types of stains, (ketchup, grease etc..)
But what about when you are a online business and want to sell usb keys , rent bicycles https://www.spinlister.com or even sell a software to do A/B testing on your website https://bit.ly/2a6cBuF
Can someone explain me how those people mentioned rank without giving definition or answering questions... because according to me they don't do any of that on the pages that I mentioned.
I look forward to your reply.
Thank you,

RE: Related Topics what is this ?
Could someone help me with that ?
Effect digital to answer your question, I am talking about both. Are related topics things appearing in related search queries on google front end ? and are they also what is in Moz back end ? By the way in the back end Moz doesn't call it related topics anymore, they call it content suggestions.
What I am really trying to understand is are those suggestions just words to include or is topics to talk about in depth. Imagine I do a "bike tour in Alsace"(France) and Moz in its content suggestions tells me Alsace wine and cycling holidays.. what do I need to do with that ? become the new wikipedia and develop in a paragraph about Alsace wine and talk about the different alsace wine, the grapes etc... or just include the word Alsace wine in my content with other words about the Alsace region that Moz recommends such as Colmar or Vosges so that google understand that I am talking about a bike tour in Alsace ?
Thank you,
-
RE: Related Topics what is this ?
My question is just what are related topics ? is it what someone would type in google when doing a search.
If my keyword was USA would the related topics that i would need to include in my page about the USA
History, Geography, topography etc... because it is what people type also with the word USA ?
Thank you,
-
Related Topics what is this ?
Is this questions people have about something.
For example : for the keyword Title tag would a related topic would be the length because people look for the length of a title tag ?

Informational query
Hello,
In an informational query can the answer people are looking for have multiple intent or will it always have 1 intent ?
For example New York, the intent is probably where ?
On a longer query such as "Provence bike tour" what is the intent ? Where, what, Why, How to, when ?
Thank you,
-
RE: Can I cover any topic(s) or are they some required ones
Thank you for your detailed reply.
-
Can I cover any topic(s) or are they some required ones
Can you talk about anything (any topics) when you write about something or is google expecting to see certain topics ? Let me clarify, let's say I do "bike tours on the island of Corsica"and bike through villages that none of the companies ranking on the 1 st page ride thru. Can I still rank as long as I write good content or do I need to cover at least some of the topics covered by the companies ranking on the 1 st page ?
Thank you,

RE: Vertical bar pipe separation in content
That is correct Robert. My question is about content.
An example would be
I love golf | My girlfriend and I play golf everyday | In the evening we have dinner at home | etc....
-
RE: Can you rank without 10 x content
Ok so if I am as good as them I will get to where they are but not above them if m understanding is correct ?. If i want to get an edge I got to create something slightly different or more valuable. Thank you sharing those insights,
-
Vertical bar pipe separation in content
How does google view vertical bar pipe separation in content ?
For example I want to create highlights. If i write something like that
Sentence A | Sentence B | Sentence C | Sentence D |
Is it considered the same paragraph or different paragraphs ?
Thank you
-
Can you rank without 10 x content
If I create a page about a "Normandy bike tour "and present the same things (pictures, hotels, dates, day by day itinerary, clients reviews, map) as my competitors can I still rank ?
Or do I need to add something totally that my competitors don't have on their webpages to rank and compete ?
Thank you,
-
RE: Pillar pages and blog pages
Thank you Miriam. I can't agree more with what you said. See that Normandy isn't a pillar page. I guess the best approach is to create blog bags that are more general that cyclists might be interested about. For example, the best cycling shorts in 2019 and so one.... Is it the way you would go ?

Pillar pages and blog pages
Hello,
I was watching this video about pillar pages https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db3TpDZf_to and tried to apply it to my self but find it impossible to do (but maybe I am looking at it the wrong way).
Let's say I want to rank on "Normandy bike tou"r. I created a pillar page about "Normandy bike tour" what would be the topics of the subpages boosting that pillar page. I know that it should be questions people have but in the tourism industry they don't have any, they just want us to make them dream !!
I though about doing more general blog pages about things such as :
Places to rent a bike in Normandy or in XYZ city ? ( related to biking)
Or the landing sites in Normandy ? (not related to biking)
Is it the way to do it, what do you recommend ?
Thank you,

RE: Can I rank without links
Thank for sending the information about Brian Deans Skyscraper technique. I checked his article and video and this is great but very difficult to do in certain industries like mine (the travel industry). In the travel industry, you don't answer questions or solve problems, like you do in seo. In the travel industry everyone wants the best deal but nobody is going to link to you other than journalists that work for travel publications when the decide to write an article about traveling to Tuscany and you do tours in Tuscany and you are famous (because if you are not they won't talk about you) and becoming famous requires lots of money !
Creating blog article is a good idea but nobody is going to link to me (at least I think) if I write about the best restaurants in Florence. First it isn't related to my industry (travel industry) and does anyone link to that ?
Just trying to find out what do write about to get the interest of people.
Thank you,

RE: Title tag and user intent
Thank you for the information. So from my understanding I will still appear with the word explore but maybe a little lower than if I had Burgundy bike tour only in the title.
-
RE: Title tag and user intent
Hi Matt,
Thank you but I am not sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean that it will be difficult to rank for "Burgundy bike tour", with "Explore Burgundy on a bike tour " ?
Should I replace my title by Burgundy bike tour | Explore Burgundy bicycle tour ?
-
RE: Can I rank without links
That makes sense. My question now is what is the best way to earn links without asking ? Create blog pages ?
Thank you,

RE: Evolution of rankings over the course of time
Hi Matt,
Do you usually climb at once from let's say 3 rd page to 1 st page one day between that 3 to 6 month period or is the climb something that is almost invisible gaining 2 to 3 spots then not moving then loosing then gaining again ? is there a partern or not really ? Thank you,
-
RE: Does you page need to be unique to rank
What difficulty score do you consider too competitive to rank without links ?
Thank you for your replies they are very helpful.
-
RE: Evolution of rankings over the course of time
Hi Matt,
Thank you for the information. How about blog pages ? If I create a blog article today (brand new page) will it also take 3 to 6 months or is it faster because it is a new page that never existed before ?
-
Evolution of rankings over the course of time
Hello,
Has anyone got experience on how rankings behave to climb all the way to the top once your do a redirect and change the design and content of your page entirely ?
-
RE: Can I rank without links
On competitive keywords ? are you sure ?
is the delay to rank longer in that case ?
-
Can I rank without links
Let's say I have great content. I have a great website design (easy to navigate for user) that answers their questions but I have no links. Can I still rank on on a keyword that has a difficulty score of 24.
I imagine that I can that google can't penalise me for not having links.
Does it mean that without links it will take longer to rank than with links but that google with rank me at some point ?
Thank you,
-
RE: Does you page need to be unique to rank
Thank you but just one more thing.
On competitive keywords you say it takes something additional, what is it, other than content and overall look and feel.
and by the way what do you mean by competitive keywords. Do you look at the difficulty in keyword explorer ?
Do you mean for example that with a difficulty of 13 I can rank just with content and no links to the page but I get to 20 or 25 I need links or traffic to that page otherwise it will be hard to rank even with good content correct ?
Or can I rank on a competitive keyword without traffic or link and just excellent content but it will just take more time ?
Thank you,
-
Does you page need to be unique to rank
What I mean by unique is :
Let's imagine I want to rank one "seo ranking factors."
In order to compete do I need to have (in terms of design) that is totally different than everything out there or can I rank with a page that is presented in a very similar way than everything out there but with different content.
Thank you,

Title tag and user intent
I am just wondering if I create a page that present different e-bike kits and my title tag tag is "the best e-bike kits in 2019", will I rank on "e-bike kits" and "best e-bike kits" or on just "best e-bike kits" ? It seems that user intent can be tricky and sometimes a title tag can make all the difference.
How about if I write "Explore Burgundy on a bike tour "to rank on "Burgundy bike tour", will I rank or is the user intent different when I write explore (meaning I am looking for something self guided instead of guided)
Thank you,
-
RE: Matching user intent in my blog
So as long as the questions are in the related searches at the bottom, in the search bar at the top google or in Moz keyword tool I am ok correct ? and like you said if I am not an expert on pregnancy and biking lets not talk about it because it is a YMYL kind of answer.
